In fact, Ms. Clinton’s emails have endured much more scrutiny than an ordinary person’s would have, and the criminal case against her was so thin that charging her would have been to treat her very differently. Ironically, even as the email issue consumed so much precious airtime, several pieces of news reported Wednesday should have taken some steam out of the story.
That's from the WaPo op ed obviously.
I think what put steam
back into this story was the news that Hillary's team deleted her emails
after the subpoena, after her press conference, after the NYT ran its story exposing her system.
Another thing that emerged was that the person who did the deletions was given immunity after he lied three times in interviews.
And there were the FBI notes about some of Hillary's statements which contradicted just about everything she told the people for 18 months.
Now this
should be it. The problem for Hillary has been this constant unraveling of her representations. Now the notes are out, the report is out, Comey has spoken and testified.
The
only thing which could possibly extend this story is as the thousands of responsive documents which Hillary deleted are rolled out if there is anything explosive in them, which - again - contradicts what Hillary has been representing about Teneo, the Foundation, her access to contributors, and her conduct as SOS.
I do think the timing of this is odd. I don't think the Lauer townhall went particularly well according to this. The reason this op-ed was felt necessary was that recent, new information has come out.
I think the other points that WaPo makes about there being no comparison to what Trump poses as a huge problem is elected is true. However that should not keep the press from reporting facts to the people and they should not be "adjusting" their reporting to affect what they think will be the possible outcome of the election.
I totally agree with a lot of the claims about Trump, I feel like I felt them before much of the country or press felt them. But it bothers me that the press and maybe many citizens feel that the press should adjust its reporting according to who is running and how they feel about them.
Report the facts, all the facts, about both candidates and let the people decide.
