***Official John Fetterman thread*** (1 Viewer)

Just a reminder for those against "win at all costs" - Fetterman had his stroke BEFORE the primaries. We're watching a win-at-all-costs strategy in real time.
It was 4 days before the primary. Not sure if Penn has mail in voting but many likely didn’t know or had voted.

If Oz wins it was the ultimate gift to Republicans in the Senate.
They have had mail in for about a month.
If that was for the Dem primaries as well many people would have voted already or weren’t even aware of the stroke due to the timing.

I got that from the Philly Inquirer. Don’t know about Penn election laws, but it would make sense, that is how it is in Michigan.

Apparently it’s not about the person but the party here. Weekend at Bernie’s comes to mind aka joe.. Let’s elect someone to the senate that struggles to form sentences or conherently answer questions he knew was coming and had a pre-scripted answers. So Fetterman doctor, his wife, his staff, the media indicated Fetterman has no issues. The debate clearly proved otherwise so they’re all lying..

And sadly he is STILL a better candidate than the snake oil conman.

If you truly despise everything about Oz, you should be absolutely irate about the Democrat Party putting Fetterman up against him.
Pretty disgusted with both parties across the board as I'm sure most of us are.
I literally hate every one of them. So much corruption. The thought of pulling a lever for any of them makes me sick. I just got my automatic Colorado voter registration in the mail and I threw the packet away.
I agree with all of these points. A very big problem I have is Team Blue will never let go of 3 and 4, so nothing heals and we don’t move forward as a country. They vote for inferior candidates based on this logic. it will happen in the midterms and it will happen in 2024. Team Red has to move on from Trump ASAP also. The tail wagging the dog is very frustrating to the average voter.
You have to consider that our democracy was very lucky to escape with a transfer of power. As former federal judge and Republican testified before the January 6th Committee:

"I have written, as you said, Chairman Thompson, that today, almost two years after that fateful day in January 2021, that still Donald Trump and his allies and supporters are a clear and present danger to American democracy. That's not because of what happened on January 6th. It's because, to this very day, the former president, his allies, and supporters pledge that, in the presidential election of 2024, if the former president or his anointed successor as the Republican Party presidential candidate were to lose that election, that they would attempt to overturn that 2024 election in the same way that they attempted to overturn the 2020 election, but succeed in 2024 where they failed in 2020. I don't speak those words lightly."

When those potential allies proudly identify themselves during their political campaigns, they're disqualified and I instantly become a one issue voter.
And little is being done to solve this as it’s in legal red tape. I honestly think the D’s like it this way as they can always play this card.
How the #### anyone would "let go" of 3 and 4 is beyond me.
So what’s your solution? You get to storm the capital after the 24 election, then declare we are even?
Dems wouldnt have to storm the capitol. Democrat protesters get let inside. They get to corner politicians in elevators. Sit right on the floor, etc.

which I say thank you. and let the investigations begin. since there will be no legislation passed. with a do/know nothing president.

You guys are voting for Hershel Walker so let’s slow the roll on win at all costs criticism  ?

More for Norville but what would the process be here? This was very unfortunate timing and circumstances. Not sure who would even take the spot if Fetterman decided months ago to step aside.
I'm not criticizing win-at-all-costs - I don't like it but I understand it. I was pointing out that was a very odd stone to be casting in this particular glass house.

If that was for the Dem primaries as well many people would have voted already or weren’t even aware of the stroke due to the timing.
True. An now early voting has started - before the debate and before many people could see with their own eyes Fettermans condition.

I'm shocked they let him show up for that debate. Here's the thing, anyone knows what several questions were going to be such as: What qualifies you to be in the Senate? What are your views on fracking? The answers we got were his rehearsed answers. This was beyond an auditory thing, he was mentally incapable of memorizing a script. Hoping the best for him in his recovery, the man on stage last night has a ways to go.

if you think fetterman is bad wait two years with Biden out of the basement and his decline continues.

Also in hindsight, it might not have been a good idea to engage Oz in a twitter troll war online. If he'd stuck to policy questions and promoting his candidacy, he'd be a lot more sympathetic. right now.

My father had 3 strokes. All 3 were different and all 3 recoveries were different. Some people never recover, some die, and some make complete recoveries.

The media that we are supposed to trust…

What's this mean? We're supposed to be excited for a Trump wannabe?
You don’t have to be, and that’s your right. Right now, I’m far from excited about what’s going on.
Agreed. Even on the right, how many people are really going to be excited that Tuesday night and be pumped that Mehmet Oz is going to the Senate? He's a vote for a side, which is better than a vote for the other side, which is really what many of these races have become.

I don't understand how anyone can vote for Fetterman after that debate. His responses/positions on certain political topics are going to keep us in an inflationary environment for a long, long, time. He's going to be a Senator-squad member. Oz was dead on accurate when he said Fetterman is a radical progressive.

His response on his flip-flopping position on fracking (energy independence) was a crash course in what to look for in a person that is lying.

His stance on crime is so bad that the Democratic nominee for Governor (Josh Shapiro) is now running ads DISTANCING himself from Fetterman on crime. And the FOP from Braddock where Fetterman is touting his great accomplishments have endorsed Oz.

He wants to continue the same border policies we have now which are an abysmal failure and extremely dangerous to the American people. We need to fix that ASAP.

But even if I agreed on every political position he had, his physical and mental state are disqualifying to be a Senator. He's unfit to do the job duties and I'm not expecting some miraculous recovery in the next two months when the job starts and America doesn't have 2 years to hope he can make a full recovery. His reluctance to release his full medical records is a major red flag that his condition is a lot more serious than he's leading on and the debate was just proof that he's not all there.

Voting for a guy who is not physically or mentally capable of doing the job because you don't like the other guy got us Biden. That has been an unmitigated disaster. To do it again is just foolish.

Pretty easy to understand: I am voting against Oz than voting for Fetterman.

Had the GOP put up a candidate that wasn't a Trumper I would probably be voting Republican, third party or simply not vote in this senate race.

Just had a conversation yesterday with a friend of mine who is a die hard liberal (paraphrased):

Friend: What do you think of Hershel Walker?

Me: He's embarrassing to me and I can't believe dude is running. I wouldn't vote for him.

Friend: Not only does he pay for abortions that he's supposedly against, that dude has got some mental issues.

Me: No doubt. You'll get no argument from me. Speaking of mental issues, what do you think of Fetterman? Did you watch the debate?

Friend: Oh, there's nothing wrong with him. He only just had a stroke. He'll be fine and using that against him is below the belt.

Me: You serious, Parker?

This is what we are up against. It's a cult.

Anyone else noticing how "ableist" is becoming the lefty insult du jour?

Examples of ableism in a Sentence

Recent Examples on the Web Burns' comments before the interview, and the focus on Fetterman's health, sparked accusations of ableism against Burns and the network.— David Faris, The Week, 14 Oct. 2022

Committee hearing, meetings with dignitaries, debates on the Senate floor, speaking with constituents, meeting with lobbyists. Speaking, listening and processing what's going on are a minimum requirement for a Senator. Fetterman can't do any of those things at a level that he will be required to. You can insult me all you want, I'm calling a spade a spade. The guy isn't capable of being a Senator. I don't care how blue your glasses are, this guy is an absolute disaster waiting to happen.

You can call Oz anything you want. A carpetbagger, a snake-oil salesman, a Trump clone. But when he spoke in that debate, he had stories from the people he met on the campaign trail and potential solutions to issues that were important to those people. Will he follow through with those solutions if he gets to Congress, I don't know. But I do know he's at least capable of doing the basic job requirements of speaking, listening and processing. You might not like Oz or his policies, but at least he fit to serve.

The pathology of this level of blind partisanship should be studied in a lab. This guy is an invalid and the fracking answer alone should be enough for most voters. After watching some of the Oz clips/answers, if he were running as a Democrat most on the right would be calling him a socialist.

The left/MSM‘s ability to pivot so quickly and completely change their narrative is unmatched…the fact they act like they are not biased is impressive as well.
This ignores the obvious, over-the-top bias in conservative media. If you want to accuse traditional media having a liberal bias, fine. But don't act as though it's worse than conservative media. That's silly.

This whole thing is such a horror show. Why does everything need to be so screwed up?

It should have been McCormick and Lamb on the ticket. Everything is so broken.

Really don’t want to fall for your deflection game and go down the rathole and away from the topic…I will leave it as the obvious is right wing media usually tells you who they are and the MSM does not.

Oh, now it's discrimination!

Fair enough - those of you criticizing Herschel Walker are then racists based on your own logic.
I laughed at that hot take the other day. I’m against Fett because of his disability? No I was long against him for many things, starting with his stance on crime.

I guess I shouldn’t be concerned, it’s not my state, amirite?

That's not my experience. Fox's motto for ages was "Fair and Balanced".

When you are going up against the likes of OZ that supports a former POTUS that tried to lie, cheat, and organize a mob to remain in power, it IS win at all costs. If he had a backbone and stood against the traitor instead of embracing him and actually lived in the state perhaps I would have considered him as a viable candidate.

Oz doesn't give a damn about Pennsylvania, he is only here now because Toomey was stepping down -- it could just as easily have been Ohio or West Virginia
You realize your apparently biggest issue with Oz isn't based on the truth. "During an appearance with U.S. Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., in Philadelphia Oz said that if he were in office, he would have voted to certify Biden’s win — defying Trump’s push at the time, which later led to the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

“I would not have objected to it,” Oz said, according to Yahoo News.
“By the time the delegates and those reports are sent to the U.S. Senate, our job was to approve it. That’s what I would have done.”

don't understand how anyone can vote for Fetterman after that debate
I gave you one reason yesterday. You ignored it
Sorry must have missed it. What was the reason?
Abortion

Yup...always knew it was an important issue to the left just didn't realize there is not a close second.
The right's been after controlling a woman's uterus for over 50 years -- now they caught the car --for most of that single issue crowd, Trump was/is their savior who helped deliver.

Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a CNN medical analyst and interventional cardiologist who has treated several high-profile politicians, said the debate was “difficult to watch.”

“Fetterman’s residual neurological injury is substantial,” Reiner said. “Much greater than his campaign has led the public to believe. It’s more than just processing hearing. It’s incredibly sad to watch.”

Well two things I really don't understand.

1. How does a person living in Pennsylvania root for the Cowboys. If you live in the East you got the Eagles. If you live in the West you got the Steelers. If you live in the middle, they usually root for Washington. If you live in the northeast you might root for the Giants. Rooting for the Cowboys? C'mon man.

2. Oz's position on abortion is he would vote no on any federal legislation. That would leave the issue up to the state. So the more important races for PA voters concerned with abortion wouldn't be the US Senate race but the PA House and Senate. But all those races really are a non-issue since Josh Shapiro has nearly a double digit lead in the Governor poll and any changes the PA legislature would/could try to make re: abortion would be veto'd by Shapiro. So yeah, I can see someone using abortion as a reason to vote for a vegetable candidate for the US Senate, but I don't understand it because the reality of the situation is that it won't change abortion access in Pennsylvania.

He was endorsed by Trump and said that if Trump is the nominee in 2024 that he would support him.

I won't vote for Oz because he supports a guy that tried to steal an election, organized a mob to attack the US Capital during certification and then sat back and watched it on TV for hours without lifting a finger to stop it.

Trump is the biggest threat to our democracy and the number one issue is to keep that un-American traitor out of office. I know that not everyone feels this way but that is where I am at.

The obvious answer is to have a Dem in that seat to keep the simple majority in the Senate.
