***** Official KTCK/1310 AM "The Ticket" Thread ***** (3 Viewers)

I'm amazed the Stars are kicking tail with what I consider mediocre talent. I was prepared for a season of Stars "rebuilding" and I was completely wrong. I've had to stop needling my cube farm neighbor about Lettin' In, he's been awesome between the pipes. On a selfish note I like it better when the Stars are tanking so the tickets are cheaper when the Blackhawks come to town.As for the Ticket, I've been tuned out for about 3 weeks or so. It seems every time I turn the radio on it's either a Ranger post mortem, a segment about how the Cowboys aren't that bad/good, or the Penn State scandal. I understand the Penn State scandal may be news and it kinda involves sports, but it's total kryptonite for me. As soon as it comes on my radio gets shut down for hours. I can find plenty of things in my own life to be sad/angry about, I don't need to hear that. The Ticket's seemingly wall to wall coverage of it is disappointing IMO.
you can get seats 1 or 2 rows off the glass for nearly all home games for less than 50/ea. That is nuts. I don't know anything about hockey but it's fun to watch as long as you are close
From where? It's been awhile since I've purchased seats but I'm pretty sure face value down low is at least 2-3x times that.I like going to games but they've always seemed pretty overpriced to me.

was able to get 3rd row seats twice last year for less than 50/ea. Others up here are reporting similar success just showing up at the stadium at game time. Even stubhub is possible at that price. Plus so few people go if you can just get in the section you can often move down.

I scour Stubhub, eBay, and Craigslist continually each season for ticket for the Stars vs. Blackhawks. The best I've ever found was 3 rows off the glass for $85 each, and that was a couple of years ago. According to Stubhub for their March 16th meeting there are 4 seats in row C for $125 a seat. After those are gone the next available seats are $175+. I have also never just showed up at a stadium hoping to buy tickets, so maybe that is where the deals are.

Going to the Stars game Saturday. Suite seats that were won in a contest.

Willing to buy a beer for anyone at the game. Will be sitting with my parents and will need reasons to move around the arena.

Well yeah, that game is 5 months out. Best prices on SH are 48-72 hours prior to game. Then using that information walk the perimeter of the stadium. Tons for sale. Just set a limit and keep shopping till you at least get a lower. If you have to scam a lower seat then do so later. This works for Mavs as well.

Talked to a guy at the home opener against Chicago this year who got last minute suite tickets outside for $75 each, which seemed like a pretty good deal.I would imagine that with the Stars playing well and there not being any NBA that tickets will be relatively high. May try the game time scalping purchase sometime, lower level for <$50 would be nice.

When we go to the games it's a family of 5 sporting Blackhawks jerseys in a sea of green. Trying to bump to lower seats would go over like Mary Turco resigning with the Stars.

suit yourself. I wasn't aware Turco wasn't a star still.

I knew he was gone. Jere Lehtinen is back and playing goalie now.

I know most people know this, but if you don't, Bob Sturm crushes game analysis for all Cowboy games. It honestly moves into sick geek/nerd/freak area, but stays pretty easy to read.

White Elephant Day Results - Will be on Dec 7th I think.

Morning Drive:

Producer: Killer

Ticker: Sean Bass

Host 1: Norm Hitzges

Host 2: Corby Davidson

Yuk Monkey: Bob Sturm

10-Noon:

Producer: Tom Gribble

Ticker: Donovan Lewis

Host: Gordon Keith

Noon-3:

Producer: Danny Balis

Ticker: Donovan Lewis

Host 1: George Dunham

Host 2: Mike Rhyner

Afternoon Drive:

Producer: Fernando

Ticker: Rich Phillips

Host 1: Junior Miller

Host 2: Ty Walker

Yuk Monkey: Dan McDowell

Morning and Afternoon Drive do nothing for me. Love Gordo getting the solo slot and Noon to 3 could be a real walk down memory lane with Danny, George and Mike.

Anyone see Grubes in his Christmas sweater with a girl in a matching sweater.

He got him a nice piece there. You can see it on Dan's twitter feed (@bracketdan)

I don't know enough to post in the NBA thread, but what is not to like about this Maverick team:

C - Haywood (Mahinmi)

PF - Dirk, (Custodian, Wright)

SF - Odom (Marion, Brewer)

SG - Carter (Terry, Jones)

PG - Kidd (Roddy B)

Depth, length, multiple scoring options on the floor at all times. You could get really small at times with Dirk at the five, or get really huge with Haywood, Dirk, Odom, Marion and Kidd all on the floor at the same time.

It does not contain C - Howard in it? Actually, not much to dislike. I think I am going to actually appreciate a shorter season in which the games will mean more.

Mavs made his short list of 4 teams he will sign long term with. I easily see him here next year to pass the torch from Dirk to him.

Ohhh... that Howard. "Why would we want Juwan Howard?" It's been a long day.

I'm digging Gordo and Doocy in the mornings, Doocy is a perfect fit with Gordo. All I want for Christmas is for them to own the 3 - 7pm slot and kick Mike & Corby to the curb.

Doocy probably makes 4x what a radio host makes and works maybe 1/10th the hours.

Listening to Gordo kick Doocy in the crotch for three hours is great, but you can't make that a permanent fixture. From what I've heard, they've barely touched on the Cowboy game. I love that, but a "real show" just can't get away with it.Removing Gordo from the D&M show would also make me sad. Like "no funeral" sad.

When Gordo gets more time, I love it, but I agree, you couldn't handle it everyday. I wish The Rant was back on Saturdays, that was just the right amount of Gordo in the lead spot.

What do we conjecture a person like Corby makes right now? $200k?
I would say that is the right ballpark, maybe more. I could see Rhyner making more of course, but I don't think he makes as much as he did in the past. I think all of those Day 1 guys had really good contracts back in the day.I once heard that Rhyner and Greggo were pushing a million dollars a year, but that could have been just BS.

Just read that Greggo's pay in his peak was $500,000 per year.

met Demarcus Ware at Academy yesterday when he and his wife randomly stood behind me at the check-outthat was cool
"Hey Demarcus, I was listening to the little ticket and they mentioned that while you're piling up good stats they can't ever recall you making an impact play at a critical moment. What's the deal? And does it smell like updog in here to you?"

2011 was pretty good for the little Ticket.

Mavs win the NBA Title.

Rangers go all the way to a WS Game 7.

Typical Cowboy drama filled season.

Even the "pesky" Stars are worth spending a segment or two on.

Killed in the ratings and moving to a new studio in Victory Park.

I still will hope for a major show mixup in 2012, but have to give them credit for being the best thing to listen to locally.

Don't TCU kids have enough money without having to deal drugs??

Also, how many people lost their jobs due to the fact that the signal was not coded for the purpose of ratings for two weeks, giving the Ticket a 0.0?

The encoding thing is hilarious, their dynasty like #1 rating streak reset to zero because someone forgot one detail. IMO it's slight payback for having to deal with their crappy signal all these years.
