Not much talk of late. The announcement was sort of interesting. I'd like to go out to that game. This probably burns Greggo up.
I agree on both counts. Possible FFA gathering??I want Greggo back on the radio, and I want it outside the Ticket. I really enjoy listening to BDH when I can on Live 105.3 and I think Greggo could benefit getting back on the air, but out of his comfort zone. Will be interesting to say the least.

Finding myself flipping stations in the afternoon if the Hardline is doing a segment run by Rhyner. Need more Danny.

This novelty would probably wear off pretty quick for me, though.

What was the announcement? I was out of town.
Instead of the Charity Challenge or whatever the football game was called, they're doing a baseball game at the Dr. Pepper Ballpark. No ringers, all Ticket staff. Gordo's even playing.
I guess I could have looked on the web site. This presents an infinite amount of shtick opportunities. Chin music. Bean balls. Bench-clearing brawls. Bad-hop grounders and pulled muscles aplenty. Any speculation on pitchers?
I've heard Corby talk about pitching, but nothing confirmed, that I know of. I wonder how many fake mound charges we'll see.
I'd like to see a Nolan/Ventura re-enactment.

Incidentally, I think Rusty's managing the Hardline.

Best moment in Ranger history.

Sadly, one of the only memorable moments in the club's history. Unless you count the Canseco fly-ball-off-the-head.

They should create bronze statues of those two moments and put them in a little garden in center field.

Someone should get a mannequin, dress him up in a Ventura jersey, take him to the Ballpark, cram his head between Nolan's arm and side on the centerfield statue and take a picture.

This novelty would probably wear off pretty quick for me, though.
It would have to be in the right situation. I could actually see him ending up over at Live 105.3 in some sort of capacity. He would fit in with the BDH, Russ Martin, Puggs and Kelly crowd.

I totally disagree. He was carried by his counterparts who always made up for his mistakes and ignorance. :FatDumb&Stupid: is no way to go through life Greggo. He has been given too many chances and that is why he will probably suffer.

At least BDH had talent (gift of gab and humor) and connections. Who would Greggo pull as far as guests? That is what the public is looking for. Good interviews are key to an average show and he cannot even pull that off.

Don't get me wrong. It would not be his own show. He would have to be part of an ensemble.

We all know "that wasn't the question"

According to two local radio industry sources, Greg “The Hammer” Williams is deep into negotiations for a permanent gig at ESPN 103.3 FM -- negotiations that are so serious, in fact, that sources say Williams will be at the station’s Arlington studios this afternoon at 3 for an off-air tryout/interview. At the same time, his old frat buddies over at KTCK-AM (1310, The Ticket) will be yucking up another “Why Today Doesn’t Suck” segment before commencing his old show, The Hardline. It’s good to hear Williams is healthy and stable enough to both consider going back to work and to be considered for a position. Not that long ago, if you remember, we were all atwitter about him merely functioning as a human being. Though we're still not sure if Williams wants this job, or if ESPN is ready to hire him. (With ESPN recently landing Michael Irvin, being anchored by Randy Galloway and forced to air national programming in the morning, the best guess is a weeknight show for The Hammer.)The sources indicated today that it's more like a free agent making a second visit to a prospective team. As for Williams, he’s being as ambiguous as ever. “Stay tuned” is all he would say when reached by Unfair Park this morning. The juiciest part of the possible scenario: Williams’ rumored potential co-host. Would you believe ... Nate Newton? Friends, start your proposed show names ... now. --Richie Whitt

Some people should simply rest on the laurels of their once greatness rather than continually try to disprove they are has beens. The Hammer had the perfect gig with the Ticket as he was riding on past greatness in a show that idolized him. That won't fly at a new station, let alone a station that is a rival to the beloved Ticket. I give him 1 or 2 years before he plummets completely into obscurity.

Huge train wreck potential. No straight man? This thing will careen off into the ditch hourly. Show name? The Dime Bag?

As if The Hammer and Nate were not big enough messes on their own - now they may be partnered? I give it 6 months. 3 months of te novelty and then 3 months of bailing water as the show sinks. It will be worse than the Jen Engle show which was TERRIBLE.

Engle thought she was the women's version of cowherd or something.

The stammering and stuttering will be horrible. I will admit, I'm a Greggo homer, I like the guy. I like the idea of giving him a weeknight show. It tends to be a bit more relaxed atmosphere which would be perfect. But Nate is about as bad a co-host as the guy could have. I would give him a Bob Sturm clone and just let them get sportsy. I would make it a 2 hour show max, allow for a ton of talk during Cowboy and Ranger season and fill it with guests during all other times.

Speaking of filling, do you think Nate Newton could fill his van faster than Greggo could empty it? Hypothetically of course...

My absolute favorite thing on the Ticket is Cobra talking to Shaq. Pure gold.

If Shaq treated me like he treats Corby, my head wouldn't fit through the door.

Hammer: Wood wood wood wood (Roscoe P. Coltrain laugh)Nate: Aww...mannnnHammer: Do you like your gig?Nate: Why ya'll wanna be hard on big Nate?Hammer: Nothing good happens after 2:00 AMNate: Aww...mannnnRoll infinite loop. Hammer's back-porch country witticisms and Nate's unitellgible babble. Nothing bad can come from this. Honestly, I kinda liked the Hammer but he is certainly cut out to be paired with a straight man. He's more Dan McDowell than Bob Sturm. Two of these guys in the same booth? I hope for Greg that it works but based preliminarily and just on the surface it looks like the radio version of The Titanic.

Can I go into the NCAA Bracket talk and smack talk about how great UT-Arlington, my beloved alma-mater, is and how they are going to shock the world, IF, I did not watch one game this year and didn't even know they made the tourney until I saw the scroll on ESPNews while trying to see Tiger Woods highlights?

How does Norm keep a job?? This golden gem came from the old one today during BAD radio crosstalk:

Norm: "Speaking of black people... did you see Tiger Woods play this weekend?"

Bob had the best comeback:

Bob: "Ummm, did you see the race at Bristol??"

Yes. Yes you can.

Alex Gordon seems to be feminine hygine bag
No kidding. It cracked me up that he wouldn't meet with the Ticket because he was afraid he would kick someone's ###. :lmao: At least it will give people a reason to watch Rangers-Royals game. I can imagine there would be some very creative signs in the crowd if the Ticket decided to encourage people to do that sort of thing.

Here's a link to the mp3 for those who missed it.

Gonna be a long summer round these parts. Mavs free-falling. Stars fading. Rangers are the Rangers.
:lmao:
Go FC Dallas? Go Desperados? Go Cowboys Off-Season Weight Training?
Hook 'em Horns?
I went to Baylor. :sadbanana: :bag:
Thought you were an Aggie, for some reason. Good season for little Baylor.
Yeah definitely getting things going in the right direction in basketball. Let's see if we can keep making progress, and then make some progress on the football field.
