I'm going to take a little time to get to know these guys and give them a chance to live up to Skar's big plans. So far, I have been impressed with their knowledge and think that could help, but they seem to be consumed with camping the rare items and I don't see them taking any time to help us out, despite their "promises." That's fine, I don't think any of us want anything given to them, but that was their recruiting pitch, not ours.

Baron and I just went back to Pilum. I invited 3 guys to a fellowship (they were in the area) and they pretty much blew me off. I wasn't planning on getting on their ventrillo server anyway, and their kinship chat sessions were getting on my nerves. Anyway, I probably didn't give them a fair shake, but I liked our cozy kinship so I'm "home". Of course, we'll still fellowship with all our FBGers, no matter what kinship they are in.Shawn, can you promote me back to officer in Pilum in case I run into someone who wants to join?

I'm going to do better than that.

I might just jump back to OOTP too then. I briefly joined Remnants of Doriath and they are small, but very willing to help each other advance. Alros and Fathom are 2, along with a girl from Germany named Lucine, but I have always thought that if we stay in Pilum, I would return without exception.I have almost reached a point where the advancement is painfully slow (200K between levels) and so am ALWAYS willing to help you guys through.I am also about to start up my captain - Minsc - and would enjoy help/friends if anyone else wants to roll a new one.

 Thank you sir!

I'm going to stay on Logos with Imhullu but I'm leaving the rest of my guys in OOTP. I transferred leadership over to Kewleo. These logos guy are heavy into PvMP and I'm planning to spend a lot of time doing that and there's strength in numbers in pvMP.

I will be back to OOTP later today - I will be on a LONG time tonight playing.

I think we need to schedule a power leveling session. We all group and hit a bunch of quests for you guys.

Kinda wanting to finish up all west Angmar quests so I can just stay east on Carn Dum and such. However, if ANYONE needs help tonight, send me a tell and I can be pretty much at any point in the map in about 5 minutes.

I will eventually get into monster play, but I still have a ways to go in the "regular" game.

I hear today that they have launched the open beta for Quake Wars. I may just have to leave middle earth to check that out. I need some rocket launching action.

Never mind. My system doesn't meet the required specs for the beta. I blame Mad Cow.
Jeeebus, what are they? What is that site where you can check game specs against your computer automatically. Also, you have a link for the beta?

I read that the beta was only going to be offered through FilePlanet - paid members first and if there was enough spots, then free members. Not sure if there is another way to join or not. There are 60,000 total spots available.

Official Site (I believe)

I didn't see on there what the specs required were.

Here's the link to join:

Greetings all. Just wanted to check in with my FBG/OOTP friends. It's been a couple of weeks since I moved over to a new kinship (Drunken Hobbits) and while I miss the tight-knit nature of a small guild, DH is a pretty solid group. They aren't really selective about who they invite in so the total number is huge (over 100 now) but there is a solid core of regulars and they are fantastic about helping out. Most of the "regulars" are in the mid to upper 30 levels with a good mix of classes and races. I've gone from lvl 17 to 29 since moving over there with pretty sporadic play. The other advantage to a bigger group that I've found is they have a kinship "bank" setup to shop for receipes, armor, components, potions, etc.

Anyhow, just checking in to say hey and I hope you guys are all doing well in the game and in real life. If you ever see Merinurk online, or need a healer for ANY quest....from really low level stuff to alts to upper level stuff...send me a tell!

Very good to hear! Once I get leveled up closer to where you all are, I am sure we'll be able to hook up on a somewhat regular basis. On a different LOTRO thread, have any of you been doing any of the summer solstace events they are putting on? I haven't really had a chance to check them out and I'm just wondering if there are any that are enjoyable/worthwhile/fun, etc.

I got my drink on in the pub crawl, but nothing else.

This game is not for fun, it is a second job. Thanks for the rings by the way, very nice. I see the ancient jewelers tools are bumping up your crit rate.

OK, let's set a date for a level up event. I come down to wherever you guys are and we crack through a bunch of quests for ya.

Should be level 50 within the week. Hit 49 last night. About 200K XP to 50.

Halfway to 49 here. Too much raiding, not enough leveling for me. Too bad I spent all those hours on Assalamu, I'd have been 50 for a weeks now. Here we are fighting (overstatement) Thorog last night.

Thorog

Not the lack of progress on killing him.

This guy does about 3K per breath if you are in the line of sight.

He also causes a fear that if not removed in 10 seconds causes you to basically explode and kill anyone nearby. You have to have Cornhuith pots ready to fight this guy.

I hear he is bugged pretty bad. Chatting with Caeden last night said they got him down a bit, and it bugged out. Don't know if that was the same time as you were there.I have been farming the Nan Gurth instance with a group of guys like Caeden, Malcore, Fenore, Stonegaijin, Alros, Fathom, Spaz, Ferth, Drunkshiplantersn and such. All good guys, all from different kinships. We all love da loot. :lmao:

Sure are. Those tools are not only a single use recipe that requires a difficult to get unique item, but they were a crit themselves so there isn't a single Jeweller tool in the game than that. I got very lucky that our main armorer critted those for me.The only better rings in the game are critted versions of the single use etched beryl ring recipe. Unfortunately, they require Gnashmaw which is a pain to farm.

Yes, was with Caeden last night. We were going to be the first on Gladden to kill him. Thorog isn't bugged, our final strategy bugged him out. Basically we all hid out of LOS and once our tank died, and Thorog had aggro on us but couldn't see us, he flew away and we couldn't get him back down. Finally, we did, but after we gave up and the raid disbanded. I just don't see how any one kills him. He deals far too much damage far too quickly for minstrels to handle. However, a group on Windfola beat him, so it can be done. In this case, it's purely about the right strategy. Brute force can't beat him.

I've also been spending a lot of time in the Ettenmoors. I'm almost Esquire and I have just about 1 star.

PVMP is a really great symbiosis in this game.

Players can play as monsters to complete quests to earn destiny points. most quests are repeatable with a 2 hour timer.

Destiny Points can be used to build up your monster OR buy exp buffs (and others) for your regular characters.

Monster's by and large are anonymous so noone knows which toon's monster sucks and which one doesn't. As such, monsters take enormous risks attacking players.

Players earn reknown by killing monsters, particularly the ones who take big risks, and get cool titles and stars.

Rinse and Repeat.

Did I post somewhere in this thread and ask about the game compared to World of Warcraft?Too many pages and I can't find it. :jawdrop:
It is a lot less cartoony, and the people playing tend to be much more mature both in attitude and age. I have grouped with a lot of guys aged 25-40 or so and all are fun guys to talk to.

Thank you for the answer.I played WoW for 29 days and canceled my account and sold it on ebay for $80. had 2 level 20 characters.I played Dungeons and Dragon online and canceled my account 25 days in because I didn't like it.I played Ultima Online on and off for 7 years and haven't played in a couple years.I don't know if I have the will or the time to put towards a MMOPRG. :P

I played WoW very sparingly, but really like this for the community, at least on our server, and the story.Never played the other ones.

I was finishing up a deed in Barrow Downs this AM killing barghests and saw a group asking for help with Lalia. I thought what the heck, told them to invite me. First fellowship message is "woah mama!" We cruised through that pretty well and I went on my way. Kinda fun to give a little lvl 50 surprise to groups wanting help.

Deeds are why it is taking me so long to level up... I have all of the Ered Luin deeds done and all of the Breeland deeds except for two in the Old Forest ;) (kill trees and find all of the flowers)

If I get a deed to kill 120 spiders then I will spend time and walk through the area and kill spiders as I go to make sure that I get the deed done.

I know I could concentrate on more on leveling and should have deleted some of my old quests that got me only 33 exp to complete but I can't make myself delete quests :bag:

To me deleting quests is leaving some of the game unfinished ;) :bag:

LOL. Determination. I did the exact same thing, except it was with Bone Man.

Just thought I'd let everyone who was with Lenore last night. After you all left I went into the Ettenmoors to raid and take all of the camps back. Lenore was in the raid and so was a few of my kinship leaders. One of them said, "does this ####### Lenore guy ever shut up?"

Well, deeds give you exp and so does killing the mobs to get there, especially if you do it when the deed opens up. No shame in that.

I think it was Fenore, but regardless, that dude is a tool. He's a knowledgeable tool, mind you, but a tool nonetheless. He affectionately refers to Pork Johnson as "the #### archer" and Baron as "duck".

You're right, Fenore.

Played PvMP for about 2 hours last night. Got in a little raid action with about 16-20 freeps vs about the same creeps. Had some huge battles. Got my first rank of Footman and current record is 289-3. Lots of fun and very different.

Best part of the night was when we had condenses down to 4 freeps in 1 fellow and I was just wandering solo. Ended up in the Isen mines and saw a creep. Attacked but all of a sudden started getting hit from behind by another creep (both were orcs - Problemchild and Ultramax). Fired a few back and they retreated out of the cave to regroup. Laid a multi-trap at the entrance and hid. Heard the trap spring, started laying into him, the other creep advanced thinking he would take me and boom, other trap got him. Between the third trap and my rooting Rain of Thorns, I solo'd the both of them.

I could get into this.

Throw in to the mix the fact you you can't be killed essentially and it's fun. Can't be killed of course because of the change to DF making it instant. Most monsters don't have a chance of killing a level 50 freep solo and even with two. I have about two dozen solo kills in Hoarhollow killing new monster players who attract aggro from some of the signatures or elite NPCs there and I run in and join the fight while they try to flee. ####, if I had a bow I could own that way.My stats
