Hey Cow. Are you still slogging on with my old Hunter account?
Nope, last login was August.
Is it purged, or can it be picked up again? I'm about to get my own office at work... this is one of the few games I could probably play there.
I am sure you could pick it up again.
Is the login info the same or did you change it? And why are you Minsc now?
Different. I can change it for ya.I am Minsc until Friday because I sort of attacked LHUCKS in a not very excellent way, though it was quite humorous. I got the TO in the process but brought him down with me. :football:

FWIW, Maelstrom is now a GM Tailor, so let me know if I can make anything anyone needs - light/medium armour. I don't have a ton of the single use recipes or shards. And all the recipes call for Exceptional Hides.

Also, I have a complete Rift Set on Maelstrom now, if anyone cares.

No Quarter seems like good people, Mad Cow. I've talked to some of them from time to time, and grouped with different ones for different things also. I definately thing that being part of a good kin as you get toward the higher levels (heck, even at the lower levels) makes a large difference in the enjoyment in the game, IMO.

I also currently have GM Tailor, Woodworker and Weaponsmith and will have GM Metalworker by mid this coming week. About 1/2 of the way there with ore.

When you are ready for your lvl 47 armor, let me know.
Hey Mad Cow... with my new system less than a week away (I hope), I was thinking of installing LoTR and seeing how it is. I'm wondering if it's a leveling treadmill like EQ, DAoC, and WoW were. I actually like how Eve works skill learning and how skill learning is the key to flying bigger and better ships. I really don't want to play a kill, loot, rinse, repeat, level, train, kill, loot etc type game right now. Also, how are the quests? With young kids, my playtime chunks are small and I tend to play solo alot and would want to be able to quest solo. Thanks in advance.

Not MC, but my take is that there are a fair number of "there are too many of monster X, why don't you go kill 12" type quests in the game. But except for the deeds/traits, there really aren't too many of those types of quests that are obnoxiously long. There are quite a few unusual quests also. The thing I like about it is that it's fun to do things in the LotR world. As for playing solo, it is definitely a game you can play solo and have a good time with. There are some quests that require more people, and even some of the solo quests are quite difficult by yourself. But you can play up to the level cap and never have to group up. I would recommend at least grouping up to do the Epic book series of quests though, as those are the "main storyline" of the game, so to speak. You can sit down to this game and only play for short periods, although it definitely has the "only 1 more thing and I'm done for the night" aspect to it.Feel free to give me a shout in-game if you see me, I'd be more than happy to help anyone from FBGs there if I can.

It is more like WoW in advancing than it is like EVE. I did like Eve's approach, as well. However, the quests are very good - many reviewers like the quests more than WoW's, and yes, you can do a lot in chunks. Try the 7-day trial and see what you think.Jump on Gladden server and I will show you around.

Will do. Are you a GM Woodworker? I just recently discovered how to use different instruments for different effects with my minstrel  I would like a good Drum for some solo quests. IIRC you gave me a Theorbo that I will be using in groups and raids.
Yep, I am GB WW - drums then? I will look at it.

Well,

I created a female elf hunter named Madelyyn (named after may daughter Maddie). I'm learning the ropes in n00b land but I do think the graphics are superb (I have the HD graphics installed). Any of you FBGs that see me online feel free to give me a shout. I'm gonna goof around with this while my Eve dude is learning alot of skills that aren't adding to the playability of Eve at the moment (learning branch skills).

So far, I like the interface, pretty intuitive.

My 7- almost 8-yr old son created an elf champion tonight. Gonna run him through some stuff little by little. Might create an elf minstrel to help in the noob area.

I will add you to my friends list DPR and give you a shout. Would love to be your personal armourer - weapons and armour and jewelry, I can do it all now. The only major skill I do not have YET is scholar, but will be working on that one, too.

How late you play, DPR? You pick up some quests to knock out later?
Hey MC,I played until just after midnight (PST) and am paying for it a bit today. I ended up making about 130 silver from the loot off your kills which was as almost better to get than the exp. I am a couple of finished quests from lvl 10 which I'll work on tonight (although tonight is a limited game night, I have to get up at 5:00am to go to spin class :lmao: ). I ended up jumping back to Cel-whatever (the Elf names are giving me fits) to finish up some things there and then I'm gonna pop back to Thorin's to quest there. I am also on the verge of hitting the 10+ area which I almost stumbled into by accident last night. Thanks again for the stuff, I can't wait to get into some lvl 10 armor and use that sweet lvl 10dps bow. It's better than any lvl 10 store bought stuff, that's for sure.:lmao:This game is going to be a nice way to fill time while I'm training up for better ships in Eve. They both have things that make them fun (and boring), I could see getting tired of either of them by themselves (being a long suffering EQ, DAoC, WoW, etc player I get bored fast of the repettition of missions/quests/grinding) but they are both different enough that I think they'll keep each other fresh.

Yeah, they both have their strong points. I will forward you some cash to keep you rolling, as well.

Since you play, WoW, the big conversion to keep in mind is that in LOTRO, 1 gold = 1000 silver, whereas in WoW, it is 100 silver.

Yea, that came as a bit of a shock to me. I opened up the window expecting to see a gold in my bag and bam... 150 silver (I had 20 silver before you went all wild kingdom and murdered every Bear, Lynx and Orc in a five acre circle).

Thanks... right now the mechanics seem to make sense but I may ask you some geographical questions or for some hints on a quest or twelve. :goodposting:Actually, question #1: WTF is a lute for? I have one, and can play it, but does it actually do anything for me? Also... how do I play it. I equip it and then stand there looking like a #######. What's the story? I think I want to channel my inner Joni Mitchel. :banned:

Instruments are purely RP in nature except for Minstrels. For minstrels, many of the instrument types offer some benefit to the minstrel. Lutes offer reduced threat, Drums offer extra ballad damage, etc.

I'll add ya and look for you also. Shoot me a message sometime if you need light / medium armour and MC isn't available. For the lute, equip it in the ranged slot and type /music - then you can use your keyboard to play. There are a lot of good help to be found on the LOTRO forums regarding the in-game music system. Not that I am any good, but I remapped my number keys and the qwerty key row to be like a piano (black keys on num keys, white on qwery row).

When do Hunters, if ever, get to wear leather? I'm still stuck in cloth.

Lvl 10 now, with a new bow, new dagger and new armor. Thanks MC! BTW, still no dual wield. It must come at 12 or 14.Almost to 11 but last night was very limited playtime and damn, I spent most of my time running between places.

Didn't get on last night, doing stuff with wife. I will try tonight. I know she hasa show she watches tonight.

They always seem to have problems getting their books updated - they say this is an unrelated issue (hah), and that they are working on it. Still down, it's definitely on Turbine's end.

Book 12 was cool, 3 very nice rewards that I can think of that I will use.

And who would have thought that the new outfit system would be so popular? Crossdressing is rampant.

You're gonna have to fill in this n00b on how to use that new outfit system. On another less than pleasing note... why the #### are there lvl whatever elite things wandering around by themselves in lowbie land that have 990 hit points? I'm going around working on killing 4 more ranged goblins and I see this one dope walking down the path. As I had been doing with every other lvl 9-11 mob in the area I target him and attack. Imagine my shock when I realize the ******* has 989 hit points. Needless to say I suffered my 2nd death in LoTR at that point and it put an end to my night. I was like... :boxing:   :shark: :topcat: :own3d: :censored: :bs: :lmao: :ptts: Just thought I would vent.Another weird thing... picked up dual wield last night when I hit 14, but it shows as a lvl 10 skill. Same trainer I had been going to as before so I wonder if it has anything to do with the deeds or things I had done/not done previously. :shrug:Damn Valentines day... gonna keep me off the computer all night. :lmao:

Bump...

Mad Cow: You guilted me into playing  Got to 18 yesterday (from 15), learned some good stuff, and died a few times.

Can't wait to try on the new lvl 21 gear.
