WIsh we did more FBG stuff. I have grouped with Amish Boy enough lately, but ain't got me none of Maelstrom nor Broadway G.

Gamerboy and I got him all finished up with 14.15 last night and ready for Moria.

If any other FBG's need help, let me know. I am pretty much just doing mark quests and Annu rep quests. Maybe an occasional BG farming run of Udunion.

Been busy lately, not going to have a whole lot of normal hour time until next week. I'd like to get a couple guys caught up on the books some time. I did just miss getting a kb on Maelstrom a few nights ago while I was on my creep. :hifive:

Been pretty busy lately myself, but I've been spending a little more time out in the Moors lately on Maelstrom and Gwaran, and, like BF2, I'm not a stranger to dying ;) :towelwave: The nice thing about the Moors is that you can pretty much come and go as needed.I've been playing on my Warg a bit also, Maktrm. Almost got all his passives, and almost to rank 4. Need about 20K more DP to finish the passives, and 3/4k infamy.

Also been leveling my Burg, Addreoryn. In the North Downs, so if anyone is doing any mid-20s to early 30s quests there on anyone, look me up.

I'm sure I can find some quests to do - I didn't finish in Forochel or Angmar, so I may have to go finish some of those off.

Regarding a Lotro review, while you can find things to do that take longer than 2 hours at a time, most things can be split into relatively small time chunks. As MC said, the population as a whole on Gladden (and across most servers, I believe) is fairly mature.

The graphics are really nice, although I really need to do an upgrade so I can really crank it up.

Worth playing? Pros/cons

Well, biased here, but definitely worth playing if you are interested in Middle Earth at all. The PvE side of things is very well done, especially for small group content. Raiding can get a little stale at times, but there is all kinds of different things to do to keep things fun. The end game (lvl50 for now, lvl60 in about a month) content can get repetitious currently, but having the Moria area and the new instances coming out with that should help that quite a bit.

Population?

Really depends on the server, Gladden is low-population, but where most of the FPGs that play hang out. If you are looking for high-population servers, check the Lotro forums for each server to get an idea of the server's identity.

Well supported by developers?

Yes. Turbine has done a very good job with this game, and continues to add a lot of free content updates, including entire land areas.

Quality of patches/expansions?

Patches are generally well done, always end up finding a few bugs that need to be fixed, but nothing usually too serious or game-breaking. The first expansion is coming out in a month, some people will hate it but most will love it (from my experience in the beta.) Turbine is changing the combat mechanics, which will probably end up making the game a fair bit harder. That was needed though, as it was really too easy in some ways.

Outlook for the future?

Pretty rosy. There is lots of content in Tolkien's world left to explore, Turbine has lots of money/partners to continue developing the game, and they tend to keep their games running for a long time, even after active development is done.

Sorry had to bail last night Maelstrom. My son was having those night terrors things and I had to help settle him down. Can take a while.

Thanks for the group. It was fun. Have to do it again.

BTW - I have my minst at lvl 28 and he is in Esteldin if anyone wants to do some quests.

No problem MC, it was fun. My burg is ~28 and in Esteldin also, so maybe we can figure out which quests we have in common and knock a bunch out one night.

Cool. Let me know when you want to run them. If there are harder quests, we could also do one of our 50's to help with those alternately instead of trying to raise a whole fellow. :pics:

Now that I've got 5 50s I've got nothing but time if you guys ever want help with your mid-level quests. Deeding gets awfully dull.

Grats on the 5 50's. I got my 4 then just died. lolWorking on my minst now, have him almost to 30 now.

Dang Broadway, 5? Gratz on that. It's probably in this thread somewhere, but what are your char names?

I'm still at 2 myself, working on the third, although I have a sig warg at rank 4 as well (working towards rank 5).

anyone that played WoW and played LOTR?Could you compare them for me?I played WoW and am curious about LOTRTIA
I played 2 toons in WoW to about lvl 20, so I can tell you but my experience is very limited in WoW, but have been in LOTRO since beta.
I too played WoW to level 20 with 2 characters and after the 30 days, I decided there was too much walking and I didn't have the time.Is LOTRO any different? How many add-ons have been released since the 1st one?

The Mines of Moria is the first paid expansion to be released, but since it was released, there have been 2 HUGE areas added which are all free, let alone new quests and areas. Free content added since release has easily added 33-40% total area to the original area, when you consider new instances, quests, areas, etc. They support the game very well and crafting is a very viable option to get great gear if you do not have time for raids, which I generally do not.

Played WoW from its release for about 6 months. Tried it again about a month ago, and quit after getting to level 10.I haven't played a MMORPG where walking wasn't tedious, this one is no different, especially going through multiple characters. They do have instant travel to the 3 starting locations right off the get go, which is nice. And there are classes that make transportation less of a hassle.Graphically, LOTRO blows WoW out of the water, if you're into that. It also helps that there is an actual known storyline, history, etc. that surround the game play.

I have said it before, but if anyone wants a buddy key, I would be happy to send you one. Just PM me your email address for me to send it to.

I will say this as well, since our WoW experience is about the same. I really liked the story in LOTRO better. The players seem more mature as a whole, which has also been mentioned a few times here.

LOTRO:

Gant - 50 Min R5 PVMP

Area - 50 Champ R3 PVMP

Gurkha - 50 Cappy R3 PVMP

Pollard - 50 Hunter R4 PVMP

Imhullu - 50 Burg R6 PVMP

Sarnur Trolls with all of them! Balrog kills with all of them but Area.

I considered playing again a few weeks ago but my account got perma-banned because I listed it on an auction site. Didn't even give character names....

You could say someone you upset posted the auction to grief you :excited: Seriously though, is there any kind of appeal on that? If not, that really sucks, I know how much time that took.

Got my minst up to 32 and has a ton of fellow quests in Dol Dinen and North Downs. Who has a 50 and wants to run me through them?

Actually, I would happily do a 50 exchange for those quests. :goodposting: I could easily run 2-3 of you with guys around 28-32 through all the fellow quests in that area with my hunter or other alt.

I appealed and played ignorant, but they didn't seem to care. Well, it's not a perma-ban, so 2036 the ban is lifted, so I'll catch ya'll then.

Speaking of NQ, I am playing Destruction on the Warhammer server that NQ plays Order on.

I'm playing the COD V Multiplayer Beta. It's kinda nice.

just a note:

GoGamer has LotR:Shadows of Angmar for less than 5 bucks, it's the full game and a free month to the best of my knowledge. I will probably bite to just give it a shot. At worst, it's one cheap month - which is usually the best anyway.

Gladden sounds hella gay. Isn't there a Dark Lord Sauron the Destroyer server or something like that?

There's nothing gay about Dan Gladden

Feel free to join Windfola or Nimrodel. :blackdot: There are maybe 2 cool sounding servers (Firefoot and Arkenstone) but they had to stick to LOTR lore for the names.

:blackdot: Looked back at the beginning few pages and there are a LOT of FBG's that intended to do this that never joined in.

K, whoever has a Minstrel, give me a brief run down on class traits you equip, tips, etc. Got mine to 34 at this point. Due to MoM coming up, there are thoughts of taking medium armour to 50 and beyond now, as well. Thoughts?

If you plan on mostly soloing and only doing groups when necessary stick with medium armor and equip these class traits for extra DPS:Unrelenting - stuns enemies on critical Piercing cry hitHerald Hammer - doubles damage with Heralds StrikeLight in the Dark - increases damage of Tier 1 & 2 balladsFocused Performance - Decreases chance of disruption when casting a heal (an alternative would be Powerful Voice)Medium Armor Use - Since I only use light armor I equip Powerful Voice which reduces cry cost A good damage burst is hit the mob with Heralds Strike and then pop Noble Cause which then allows you use Herald's Strike 3 times without a cool down plus get a small group heal with each Herald's Strike. If you have Herald's Hammer trait equipped and a decent weapon you can do a lot of damage in a brief time (for a minstrel). I usually wait until I've taken at least some damage before using this combo so I don't "waste" the heals. For fighting "bigger" mobs this is the strategy I use:Start with Echoes of Battle - the flying swords DOT skillfollowed immediately with Call to Orome - this does AOE light damage and also a buff which makes you melee combat more effective Piercing cry and hope for the stunTier 1 BalladTier 2 BalladTier 3 Ballad of War buff which improves melee damageTier 4 Anthom of Valar Now use the Heralds Strike and them pop Noble Cause followed by 3 more Heralds StrikesI like to use the Call to Orome skill whenever it can be cast for the damage and the buff.If you get into serious trouble drop out of Warspeech and go into "turtle" mode. Don't cast any skills except self heals and only do damage with the auto-attack. There are some lvl 50 Minstrels that have soloed Skybreaker an Elite Master Drake with 20,000 Morale using this method. When I'm the main healer in a full fellowship especially for CD, Uru, Rift, BG etc I equip these traits:Subtle Movements - gain less aggro when healingLife Singer - reduces power cost to cast healing skillsSmooth Voice - changes 1 tier 1 & 2 ballads to group buffs (this allows you to get all the way to tier 4 casting with out doing any damage to mobs and just buff the group)Battle Hymn - your Anthem of Valar skill also increases the in-combat moral regen of the groupFocused Performance - Decreases chance of disruption when casting a healYes, I do a complete retrait when I go from solo to fellowship and vice versa.

Yeah that combo you talk about is pretty much what I have done. Love the HH and Noble cause combos to early heals.

So Joe, you gonna look at medium armour again with another 10 levels looking at ya?

Welcome back weekend from the 6th to the 10th if anyone wants to log back on and give it a try.

Update: Installing the game now. I got the special edition from GoGamer for $5 -- I guess this means I get free stuff.

I don't like healing and, generally, tanking since both often involve looking at the interface more than looking at the game itself. (I remember having a funny mod as a holy priest in WoW that would fill the WHOLE screen up with raid health bars + dispellable debuffs - you couldn't even see the fights)

So, thinking about making a hunter now since they are ranged DPS, which allows me to have a nice view of things. Unfortunately, there are many like-minded gamers out there, so I fear there is probably a class distribution of like 50% hunters and 50% all other classes. :bag:

Hunter is certainly fun. That is my main. The tank class is the guardian. The melee DPS is champion. Captain is sort of a paladin, like character. Lore-master is crowd control with decent DPS.You might try burglar. Everyone that plays them loves them for all the diverse skills they have.Just join Gladden and I will hook you up.

I'd consider a champion. You can easily solo your way through the game with either of those classes. Champs are great for farming traits or money down the road. The downside is that the champion is not a great deal of fun in PvMP and they lack the fun of the other classes sometimes. Hunter is fun and it's easy mode in PvMP for the most part. You can level pretty well as a hunter but there are some tough stretches where the mobs hps and damage gets a little ahead of your bows but even then it's not a big deal.

Got my minst up to 47, 1/2 way to 48 and about 1/2 way through book 10. Really want that Calenglad's Shield.
