Maybe Sayid is on the list and the Others have said they can't hurt/kill those on the list. Much like MIB and Jacob, they need convince another on the list to kill Sayid.

this is kind of where I am. I follow the threads and enjoy the theories, but I don't think I can keep playing the guessing game. I'm just watching it for what it is at this point and I'm waiting to see the outcome.

I disagree. I'll go back and rewatch, but what I got from it last night, they just wheeled her in hysterical, they say something to Ethan, he turns around, and busts this knowledge out like he's been her doctor all along. There was then a momentary "What the hell?" glance from Kate and Claire both, but then they forgot it and moved on. I could be wrong, but that's what I saw. Kinda reminded me of The Shining, or something. "You're my doctor, and you always have been."

As I said I loved the show but that epsiode was awful because not only did it barely move the plot ahead (as someone else said earlier it could have been done in a two minute conversation not an entire ep) and for the first time since Jack's "tatoo" episode I was bored....even forwarded parts on my tivo which I have never done!
Did not expect such a stinker in the last season when they should be addressing real issues/questions - this has Sopranos let down writte all over it!!!

Well, we DID only see the wife half of that couple... The husband split before they got there. Still a chance that he's someone we know.Although, I figured it would have been someone from the island or that we'd seen in a previous flashback/forward.

I didn't think that. But when the police came in to the hospital room, I'm surprised that the detective wasn't Ana Lucia's mom, or that the patrol officer wasn't Lucia's former partner.

Same here on both counts. Expected to see more cameo's, although the Ethan one was good. I expect we'll be getting little cameo's like that probably every episode in the L AX reality.

Great episode last night. Most likely filled with a bunch of clues that we cannot piece together yet. Watch, listen and observe. Free will is the way, to not being lost.
Thought it was slow too and I've never cared for the Kate/Sawyer angst stuff either, but I was kind of expecting it to be slow this time after the 2 hour premier last week. Mac from Always Sunny was pretty jarring too. And no surprise at the end that Claire was the one setting traps.
I do love how they are at least trying to tie some of those early episodes and questions together. Sayid being infected goes back all the way to season 1 & 2 with Rousseau's backstory and the time flash with Jin we saw last year where the rest of her team went into the temple and got infected. Not too mention the "infection" that was mentioned time and again with Desmond in the hatch or when Claire started to remember when she disappeared.

It sure looks like Claire is "infected" by Danielle. Sayid certainly didn't act like Sayid when he was being "tested". He's taken much worse abuse and barely winced. Why is he now whimpering like a little girl? Is he infected by Alex (or possibly Charlie) who might react that way?

"The sickness" surrounding the events of Rousseau has always been a loose thread, imo. I've never known what to make of all that, but they are beginning to explain it.

We have three data points of references now with the first three episodes. We have "seen" how many references to things that happened on the island that now happened in "real" life time? Point is, get ready for more of these references that are going to pop up now that the island is presumably not in play anymore. Further point is, What Happened, Happened, and Dead is Dead. We have seen everything happen in the "real" life time line all ready however we have not seen how these events happen. With that in mind we have more questions that pop up. Who does Jack save from the island? Could it be Locke or might it still be Ben? Does Kate still raise Aaron or does Claire? Does Sawyer still meet Juliet off island and fall in love? Do Jin and Sun still have a baby since she was impregnated on the island? This season is not going to answer questions but tell us that everything that has happened has already happened to the Losties AND that no matter what kind of questions there might be, answers do not tell the whole story. Going back to Danielle's message through the radio and how many iterations that cycled through. Maybe that is how many iterations Jacob and MIB have been fighting it off on the island.

i just really dislike the direction they are going with this... too many new characters... too much flash sideways.... too much weird crap with these new temple people... too much sawyer/juliet stuff.... the writers had said we might be let down by all of this... put me in that camp for now.

Not argung the point about the drop off to episode 2 - in a normal show in a normal season. This was supposed to be the "roller coaster" ride as each show was going to be face paced towards a conclusion. The "how can they cram so much in just the episodes that remain?" The "producers can't show a single frame becasue each frame is so revealing!"And then waste 55 minutes last night.And expect 2-3 more like last night.

Give him his own show, and dispense with the rest of this nonsense.2) I realize that the obvious non-communication to move the story along has been around since the beginning, IMO it's a product of shoddy writing through and through. Which is a shame, because obviously it's a pretty great concept for the show. Everyone's always clamoring for "answers", and honestly I don't care how quickly or slowly they're revealed, I just want the way in which they're reached to make logical sense.

This is funny because I am getting the sense that you must be told everything in order for things to have any kind of conclusive ending. As far as communicating goes, think about the characters asking all of the questions that have been arisen in discussions that have not been on screen to have taken place when the camera is not on them. Must the characters ask and answer every question on camera in order to have the writers be good writers and for the show to be a good writing? The answer is "no". The writers have taken liberty that the viewer is going to assume that most questions have been asked an answered already albeit not on camera. Is that too much to believe? Or, is it in the common belief that these characters are borderline re(slowed down)tarded to not ask common questions? I will take the opinion that these characters have gone through the Q & A's behind the scenes. Take that approach and the show becomes so much more than what is on the screen. However, the show appears to be about "free will" to a point so you and others that must be told everything have that right. The show is as good as ever and the puzzle is getting put into place at a pace that is on par.

Not sure but a knife is a much more primitive weapon than a gun is. Might have something to do with it. Kind of like, Ben could not kill Widmore with modern technology but if Ben had something really primitive, which might not exist anymore, he might be able to kill him. Perhaps Jacob/MIB aren't the same type of being.I'm not sure bullets bounced off MIB. When the Mercs were shooting at Smokey bullets had no effect, so perhaps as he transforms into Smokey, he's immune to bullets.ETA: IMO, MIB isn't "using" Locke's body for anything. Locke is dead and his body is on the island. Many of us here are of the belief that if there's a dead body on hte island, Smokey can then use his "magic" to appear as that person. Not actually inhabit the person and possess that person's now-deceased physical form.To back track a bit I was wondering something. I'm trying to think back to when Sayid was "caught" by those Iraqi people in London and they were torturing him, to get him to admit to being a torturer. I'm pretty sure he screamed then, as well.
I also recall Sayid also being “electrocuted” by Danielle when she had him prisoner and him screaming in pain. Interesting the Danielle also used a similar form of electrocution on Sayid. I wonder if she knew about the “test” the Dogan was using.
Speaking of which, WTF is up with that test. Sprinking ash/powder on someone’s torso, blowing it off and then burning him with a hot poker? What, exactly, does that test?
