To back track a bit I was wondering something. How come Jacob was killed by a knife but bullets bounced off MIB inside Locke's body? And how did MIB use Locke when Locke 's body was on the beach ?

Or, maybe, quite possibly, Ben and Widmore time traveled as well at some point and saw each of their time lines years ahead of the bedroom scene thus making Ben and Widmore know that they do not each kill each other because they are around, in their time lines, many years later. This would mirror Sawyer's and whomever else was in the boat during the rainstorm since they did not die in that future, essentially they knew they would survive other things. Juliet did not die until the "present of 2007. Maybe Ben and Widmore die in 2015 or something so they know they cannot kill each other in 2007.There are many more time lines being toyed with than just the 815'ers here. Each person has a different time line that each is involved in with different outcomes for each. In reality, there is no one time line for a group, even a group of two, but multiple time lines with one person each having one.

As I said I loved the show but that epsiode was awful because not only did it barely move the plot ahead (as someone else said earlier it could have been done in a two minute conversation not an entire ep) and for the first time since Jack's "tatoo" episode I was bored....even forwarded parts on my tivo which I have never done! The problem I have is that the writers are supposed to be winding things down during the final season but instead we have more characters introduced that we have no clue about and when Jack asks questions to get answers from them they play the whole "secret" game and don't tell us anything about them. Now I am willing to give the writers the benefit of the doubt and hope they close the loop on things by the finale, but the more stuff they keep adding to the story at this point the more unlikely that is going to happen.

This is funny because I am getting the sense that you must be told everything in order for things to have any kind of conclusive ending.

Quite the opposite. I'm not one of the people that clamors for "answers." I'd almost rather some things go unexplained (the Numbers, for instance).

As far as communicating goes, think about the characters asking all of the questions that have been arisen in discussions that have not been on screen to have taken place when the camera is not on them. Must the characters ask and answer every question on camera in order to have the writers be good writers and for the show to be a good writing? The answer is "no". The writers have taken liberty that the viewer is going to assume that most questions have been asked an answered already albeit not on camera.

It's not just that important answers (given by characters) aren't shown, but the characters themselves do not explain things when there's no reason not to. That is poor writing. I realize the "cameras" aren't going to be there for every bit of information. That's fine.I've been re-watching The Wire lately, and one of the key plot points of Seasons 2-3 is the growing rift between Stringer and Avon, and Avon ordering that D'Angelo be killed in prison. We know that Stringer's ordered it, and when he finally reveals to D'Angelo that he did it, there's still a big emotional payoff of seeing Avon cope with it. I wonder how the writers of LOST would've handled something like this: We'd probably be led to believe that D'Angelo was killed via suicide, McNulty would never have gotten suspicious, Bell would've always been shown playing dumb, and we get the BIG REVEAL where *dramatic music* Stringer reveals he's the killer. But the big reveal isn't as interesting as the machinations of Bell ordering it, keeping D'Angelo's mom at bay, being questioned by the guy who he contracted to do it, etc. That's great TV. LOST, on the other hand, loves the "Big Reveal", to its utter detriment.

Is that too much to believe? Or, is it in the common belief that these characters are borderline re(slowed down)tarded to not ask common questions? I will take the opinion that these characters have gone through the Q & A's behind the scenes. Take that approach and the show becomes so much more than what is on the screen. However, the show appears to be about "free will" to a point so you and others that must be told everything have that right. The show is as good as ever and the puzzle is getting put into place at a pace that is on par.

I'm trying to think back to when Sayid was "caught" by those Iraqi people in London and they were torturing him, to get him to admit to being a torturer. I'm pretty sure he screamed then, as well.

I also recall Sayid also being “electrocuted” by Danielle when she had him prisoner and him screaming in pain. Interesting the Danielle also used a similar form of electrocution on Sayid. I wonder if she knew about the “test” the Dogan was using.

Speaking of which, WTF is up with that test. Sprinking ash/powder on someone’s torso, blowing it off and then burning him with a hot poker? What, exactly, does that test?

One of the fatal flaws of this show, IMO, is that people don't communicate with each other in a realistic manner. Shoddy writing, IMO.

I agree that if the characters would actually communicate with each other we could get some things resolved. But, characters not communicating what is going on is a mainstay of all types of entertainment. You could make the same complaint about characters in nearly every book you read, TV show you watch and movie you see. It is one of the main ways writers get things to happen.I don't like it, but it is all over the place.

I'm worried this season may turn out similar to Battlestar Galactica's last season. There were so many things that needed to be answered and the audience knew they only had "x" amount of episodes left to tell the story. Anytime the writers did an episode that setup something else or explored new plotlines or characters, many in the audience didn't care about it. It often seemed like filler or just a waste of precious time.I have more faith in the writers of Lost since they've always maintained their storyline was planned out from the beginning and many of the episodes in hindsight do seem to have been laid out that way.

These types of shows are called a "tease". Overpromise and underdeliver. When the final episode airs, and they've answered pretty much NONE of the big questions, I guarantee you J J Abrams will say something like "Well, it was really about the journey, about experiencing the world of lost for 6 years, not getting answers to your questions. But if you want some answers, there might be a comic book or movie with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!"You can even bump this post after the series finale airs. You'll see I'm right.

Well, I've been saying for quite some time that EVERYONE in this show is evil. There are no good guys. I think all of the losties have murdered someone. They are utterly selfish. I mean think about how evil and selfish it is to drop jughead into the Swan hatch construction site. Maybe they think they are changing history. But did they EVER have any consideration for the fact that they are ALL committing mass murder by killing everyone else on the island? We see it sunk to the bottom of the ocean. NOT ONE of the losties ever said, "hey wait, what about the rest of the inhabitants? Maybe we shouldn't set off a nuclear weapon???" That's terribly, terribly sociopathically evil.Its actually in character for this group of whack jobs to not communicate. To communicate with each other would actually demonstrate they care about someone besides themselves, which they ultimately prove they don't, time and time again.I mean if I ran the temple and the losties showed up in my temple, and I knew they had just committed mass murder, I'd have them all shot too before they kill me. The only reason the samurai guy didn't was because Jacob said not to.

Although, I figured it would have been someone from the island or that we'd seen in a previous flashback/forward.

Well, we DID only see the wife half of that couple... The husband split before they got there. Still a chance that he's someone we know.

I'd be shocked if the husband is not someone we know. It's a stretch of a plot to say the wife simply forgot to call Claire to cancel the adoption and the writers have to know this. I think they just could not find another way to bring the story together and introduce the husband later. If they had no plans to introduce the husband later it would have been a far more plausible plot for Claire to arrive at the house and discover that the husband or both the wife and husband had just recently died in an accident. That's way more believable than someone forgetting to call a 8month pregnant lady traveling from Australia , probably at their cost, to deliver them a new baby. So I think we absolutely see the husband later and he's someone we already know.

I think the Sawyer stuff laid down in this last episode is going to prove important in his actions going forward this season. I don't see that stuff as filler at all. Unlike other shows (Heroes) where the characters would flip flop their motives and actions from show to show, Lost has been very good with character development.

If they plan on doing some interesting things with Sawyer in the next few episodes (working with MIB?) it is important for them to show WHY Sawyer would do it. Which is what they potentially laid out for us.

For those commenting on communication and the actions of the Others being all over the place....try this. Substitube "The Others" for "Jacob" and just assume for a minute that their actions are guided by him and they are doing exactly what he is telling them to do. IE: DON'T tell anyone the secrets about the island.

You are assuming they would do it to communicate better with Jack, but it is reasonable to think they have been specifically told NOT to do that.

If you substitute "Jacob" for "The Others" when trying to rationalize their actions, I think it is reasonable to say that we don't really know what his/their motives are.

His motives will likely prove to be the basis for the entire show and might only be revealed at the end. I don't see any reason to rush to get there and if lesser inconsequential mysteries along the way are left unanswered so be it.

questions answered:1. what happened to Claire2. what the "infection" was (read: Rousseau was infected, her crew was not necessarily infected)3. closure to Sawyer/Julietand that's not including the alternate reality stuff (Claire/Kate getting reconnected, Aaron being the baby's name even though I'm pretty sure Aaron as a name was all from Charlie, etc.) and Sawyer was planning to propose, the reason Kate went back (or more on that), etc...there were tons of answers, they just weren't sexy answers...

We don't really have an answer for what happened to Claire. Apparently she was "claimed" and that its a very bad thing to happen. But we don't know what it means.

well, yeah, they were only partial answers... but we know whatever happened to Claire also happened to Rousseau and is now happening to Sayid...

And tell me Im not the only one who thought we would see some people from the island open the door when Claire went to see who was adopting the kid?

Although, I figured it would have been someone from the island or that we'd seen in a previous flashback/forward.

Well, we DID only see the wife half of that couple... The husband split before they got there. Still a chance that he's someone we know.

I'd be shocked if the husband is not someone we know. It's a stretch of a plot to say the wife simply forgot to call Claire to cancel the adoption and the writers have to know this. I think they just could not find another way to bring the story together and introduce the husband later. If they had no plans to introduce the husband later it would have been a far more plausible plot for Claire to arrive at the house and discover that the husband or both the wife and husband had just recently died in an accident. That's way more believable than someone forgetting to call a 8month pregnant lady traveling from Australia , probably at their cost, to deliver them a new baby. So I think we absolutely see the husband later and he's someone we already know.

Just spitballing for fun here, but one of the running jokes in the first season was there were 2 Steve's or something like that. I remember there being a joke about one of the Steve's cosing up with another female passenger from the plane even though that Steve had a wife off the island.

Ben was made the leader of the Others despite the Others knowing the water would change him in some manner. Have they learned about the water because of Ben's evil? Why was Rousseau taken to water? Why was Claire? Was anyone else? Was having Ben be the leader part of the MIB/Jacob struggle? Overall, I just enjoy the show and try not to worry about answering questions. But I do find the above interesting.

Id bet it was intentional...very little like that is just a mistake.Id have to think they knew the date of the original flight pretty well.
