That was before they got dropped into the ocean. There wasn't a whole lotta water waiting to pour in if they opened the door on the plane.Um, they can open the door. Remember they went in there and locked the door, which is why Ward kept yelling at them to open the door.No but he dropped them into the ocean in a big box without any signs (that I could see anyway) of getting out. He's clearly torn by his loyalty to Garrett and his feelings for the SHIELD gang but I'm not sure there's any coming back from this for him now. He basically left Fitz and Simmons to drown in the ocean.Unless they pull a "There's a secret way to get out of this big box that only Ward and us knew about" bit in the finale I think he has to go at this point.notice he didn't kill them. After dropping Fitz and Simmons into the ocean they have to kill off Ward now, don't they?
I don't think Fitz and Simmons are gonna drown for what it's worth. I think they will get out of the big box somehow.
Like I said, I don't think they're gonna die. And they absolutely have dropped tons of hints that Ward's conflicted and I think they could go the route you say in the second paragraph. But even if he does die a hero's death or somehow turns for the good or something along those lines, I think dropping Fitz and Simmons into the ocean was the last straw from a logical character progression perspective in my opinion. It's gonna take some clever work by the writers to turn Ward into someone who doesn't now deserve to die. I don't think just helping the group in some fashion in the finale is gonna cut. He's crossed way over the line at this point.
