Where in the movies did it say that Captain America would eventually pass the torch to some other superhero?

Why can't people understand that comic book readers have no place in this thread?  They should have their own thread since the comic book world is completely different from the cinematic universe. I mean, sure, Cap passed the torch on to Sam at the end of the movie, but other than that there is literally nowhere else in the MCU that even references him passing the torch on to Sam.  Jeez, people...
Don't mean to pile on, well maybe a little, but the "passing of the torch" is a common theme in this movie. This movie marks the end of the Iron Man, Captain America and Black Widow era, the first group of Avengers for the MCU. The next phase will feature the next generation of Avengers - Black Panther, Spiderman and Captain Marvel, who literally carried the torch (the gauntlet) in the final battle. Cap handing over the shield was in line to the theme of this movie.

The movie was too long in general but I cant find much about it i dont like. I'm not paying to go see it in theatre again. That said Def getting it on disc and looking forward to watching the whole saga in one viewing
Think there's any chance they package IW and Endgame in one set?

I know I will get blasted in here for this but I honestly don't remember this at all.  I am guessing it happened when I went to get ICEE refills for my kids.
there were 3 recommended times to pee during the movie... Ratman showed up moments after the first one.

IIRC, it’s going to be a horror movie

yes that is correct.  It looks very un Xmenny.   It has been in production for a long time. The original release date was April of 2018.

The first trailer was released all the way back in 2017.

Looks like they missed the April 13th 2018 release by just a tad.

I saw what clearly seemed to be Magik, Karma, Mirage & Wolfbane so I'm guessing the other dudes were Sunspot and Cannonball.  I could see Belasco creating that type of horror illusion or even Mirage's powers being manipulated to give it more of a horror vibe.

The looooooong postponements do not bode well for the quality of the film but the willingness to delay for so long, hopefully to make things right, gives a little hope.  I would love to see them nail this one and somehow work it into the greater X-Men universe (and future MCU)

Do you remember Antman's van in the storage facility in San Francisco?  And the Quantum Tunnel in back activates and Antman comes flying out. And holds up a sign written on cardboard for security guard Ken Jeong to see?

That was because there was a rat walking across the dashboard of the van, stepping on the controls for the tunnel and activating it, which brought Scott back after 5 years in there.

Ratman is the 1 in 14 million chance for everything to work.

Nope, it had to be when I stepped out.  Thanks!

I'm sure this has been covered, but I'm too lazy to read through all this.

How did Hawkeye's wife keep her phone charged and her plan active for 5 years?
She called from the home phone? I mean his family was dusted at the house, so assuming they reappear the same spot, the home phone would be right there for her to use, as long as Hawkeye has the same cell number to call.

One more question about Cap and Falcon please.  How can Falcon become the new Cap when he's just a regular dude without his falcon stuff?  Cap was super powered and able to go toe to toe with Thanos, the Falcon dude would have been crushed like bug.

Although for some reason Black Widow and Hawkeye can handle themselves against super powered baddies.

Not sure it was mentioned in here or not, but Marvel's use of their female characters in this movie was terrific.  The scenes with Pepper Potts as Rescue could have went wrong in a million different ways, but good gosh that was great.  Also thought her end scene with Tony was legitimately touching.  That Black Widow self sacrifice, Valkyrie's scenes with Thor...but dang I was edge of my seat double fists in the air with their use of Scarlet Witch, very glad to see her use her powers more effectively.  I really dug that they didn't go Mary Sue with any of their characters, everything seemed earned and real.  Excellent acting, writing, and direction there.  Bravo.

Who knows. Maybe they’ll show him getting his ### kicked and then he hands it off to Bucky. Wait and see.

I think a lot of what made it underwhelming was Thanos.  They did such a remarkable job with him in "Infinity War" there wasn't much room left for him to grow.

It was a good wrap-up to this phase of the MCU.
I liked Engame a lot but I agree with this, and it's why I think Infinity War was much better.

Infinity War was so good largely because Thanos was such a great villain, who was almost an anti-hero in some ways.  He also always kind of had the upper hand and had lots of great dialog to go with his swagger.

In Endgame they just made him a boring, bland bad guy who was just there to be the evil guy with an army at the end.  He was also always kind of playing from behind and never really that believable of a threat except for the couple of seconds where he had the gauntlet again.

It was a picture of her when the number popped up on Hawkeye's phone?  Is she the only one who uses the landline?

Captain America is a symbol

Cap didn't exactly go "toe-to-toe" with Thanos. Even when he got Thor's hammer he still got pounded.  As did Thor and Iron Man.

There are tons of ways they will be able to power up Sam Wilson to hold the mantle of Captain America.  It will be interesting to see what they opt for.

I disagree, with Thors hammer he banged around Thanos the goodest.  While he still was defeated he actually hurt Thanos.

And that leads me to another question, while I get that he can wield Thor's hammer because he's worthy, how is he able to summon lighting?  He's not the god of Thunder.

Mjolnir is forged by Dwarven blacksmiths, and is composed of the fictional Asgardian metal uru. The side of the hammer carries the inscription "Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor."

is lightening a power of Thor?

So for us casual fans--where do they go from here? I mean is there another like really super bad guy that everyone has to come together yet again to beat. Like "Thanos? Thanos? That guy used to park my car. I am (insert really evil guy's name)."  And away we go......

I am trying to get my wife to watch War so I have an excuse to go see this again.

A lot depends on the willingness of the audience to forget the previous stabs at Dr. Doom or Galactus.

It's not "Whoever is worthy shall be able to wield Thor's Hammer"

It's "Whoever is worthy shall possess the power of Thor"

Tons of options. Tons of them.

You don't need to threaten the entire Universe to make the next Big Bad a compelling threat.

He checks a lot of boxes except he is lacking in name recognition.

Galactus is the ideal option but you really need the FF for that
Most Marvel non- Spiderman villains don't have the name recognition. Even Thanos. Only one who does is Dr Doom.

If you go with Galactus as the next major bad guy, you can have build up movies where the heroes have to deal with the Heralds.

he is the God of hammers!

So that works with the next Black Panther movie, if they include Namor, adding the Silver Surfer to that mix would mirror the comics pretty well IIRC.  Been many years, but I seem to remember Namor going up against or with the Silver Surfer in the comics.  So setting up Galactus from there would work.
