The more I think about this show, the more I like it......to the point that I'd stack it up against any of the MARVEL movie releases. It might not have the flash or be as grandiose.....but it has much better characterization and atmosphere. And that's not even selling the characters in the movies short as many of them have been on screen (thru the different films) for about the same time as Daredevil (about 13 hours). It's just that good.....and will get better with the addition of The Punisher next season

To me the most amazing thing is that they took arguably their most toxic franchise thanks to the Affleck film and made it not just decent but a hit.

This is why I don't accept the '####ty movies are ok if you turn your brain off' argument from certain movie fans. Sure, it's not fair to compare a TV show to a movie, but the show demonstrates that it's possible to combine 'cool stuff' with great writing.

I agree with that to a point......but I think television is easier to have great writing. You have way more time and (IMO) there aren't these excessive financial expectations looming over the heads of the creators/writers...so to that, I think that the movie creators did about as well as they could do in regards to triangulating story - marketability - hitting whatever demographics they were required to hit.

 
Finally finished. Overall I thought it as fantastic, but here are my nerdy gripes:

Would anyone accept a blonde Superman? How about a red head Batman? No. No they wouldn't. Then what's up with a black haired DD? Ok, super minor. Actor basically killed it so I came around even though I heard his Irish accent at least once per episode.

Speaking of casting... Wesley and Leland also did great jobs, but why not cast those characters smaller? They were the same height as Kingpin. It isn't hard to let casting help you make someone look bigger. Just watch a Tom Cruise movie. I think this took away from how big Kigpin could have looked.

Foggy finds out the secret before Karen? WTF?

Last episode: Kingpin doesn't do that kind of ####. He gets away through courtrooms and loopholes. No big Joker style escapes. Just let the lawyers delay the trails and eventually get off by bribing jurors or on technicalities. On that note, he should have never ended up in prison. Helpfully it's just until he posts bail. That last scene with him staring at the wall was cool though.

Surprised they subbed in that molester dude as his first act as a vigilante instead of his father's killers.

Some stuff I really liked:

The way they showed instead of told stuff was awesome. Daredevil has a lot of inner monologue in the books to explain what he's doing (listening for heartbeats, hears the metal of a gun being cocked, a knife leaving a holster, etc...) Loved how the show just gave us the heartbeat and the sounds.

I was really worried they weren't going to be able to pull off his acrobatic fighting style, but they ####### nailed it.

Ben was great. I think he had more to offer this series, but I'll take it.

Looks like they are inferring we kind of have a post Born Again Karen Page right from the beginning. Those hints were cool.

Hints... Love the eater egg stuff. The link Acer posted covers 4 of them. Another one is Leland. He is a villain in the books. He casually mentioned a son right before he died, so that is an opening for Jr to take up The Owl.

Another Easter egg is you can see Potter's blueprints for his Gladiator suit at one point.

Potter and Turk were great. Potter maybe a bit over board. But cool.

Stick was ####### perfect.

Yeah, Turk was the black guy that set up the Russian hits and got chased down the last episode. Can't wait to see him get thrown through Josie's window.

Potter is a great character. More schizo than ####### in the books, but his idiot savant thing in the show worked well enough. You can look him up for more spoiler details. His Betsy thing is a great story. As is his relationship with DD and Matt.

 
Just got done binge watching it. Really enjoyed it a lot. D'Onofrio was sensational. Great casting all around. Missed the Elektra reference but I'm not a big comics guy so I probably missed a lot of stuff. Looking forward to Season 2, especially with Bernthal in it. He's long overdue for another really good role in a TV series.

 
Still haven't finished season 1. It just seemed boring after awhile with a lot of slow parts in the show. Maybe I'll give it another chance.

The Elektra reference was easy to miss. In the flashback to them one drunken night in college, Foggy mentions that at one time Matt chased a hot Greek girl, which is assumed to be Elektra Natchios.

 
Can't stop watching the new season.  I like the way they're handling the Punisher and Elektra so far. He's the mirror to show Matt how close he is to the edge, and she's the drug trying to lure him over.

So made the mistake of watching Jessica Jones with my wife--- which means it is taking forever (literally months for us to find time to get through the shows). Do I need to finish the Jessica Jones season in order to get everything from Daredevil season 2? I know they are all intertwined.

So, either I

A. just go watch the rest of the Jessica Jones season then deal with a butthurt wife for watching without her, even though I can tell she is not really into it, I think just watching to give us another show that we watch together

B. I wait for the snails pace we are getting through Jessica Jones to finally get through it before watching Daredevil season 2

C. Just watch Daredevil Season 2 while slowly getting through Jessica Jones

What say the FBGs?

 
They absolutely NAILED the portrayal of the punisher.

Episode 3. Holy hell. Wow. Perfect. Straight from the comic.

And ####### is Elektra hot.

:rant:    got through episode 2 yesterday, just into episode 3 (the first, pre-intro music scene).  Loving it.  

 
Just finished.  Amazing season.  Going to be hard to top.  Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle was the best casting ever.  He is absolutely the best Punisher actor.  I know that isn't saying much.  When you watched him play Shane of TWD you just knew this guy was going to nail it as Frank Castle.

 
The punisher scenes are brutally awesome ...the prison cell fight blew me away...and i loved when he first sees the signature punisher skull on his bloodied white shirt...perfect

 
Finished the season last night.  So brutal, but so incredible.  Lots of implications for next season.  

Dammit, a whole year?!???  I have to wait a whole damn year??!!??

I really liked Season 1 but I liked S2 better.  Punisher and Elektra were great.   

There were a lot of head turning cringe-worthy scenes - especially the torture of Stick.  yikes.

 
I'm through 3 episodes and I think it's been great so far...  looking forward to getting through teh rest based on teh reviews here.

not a fan of torture scenes though...  so I'm not looking forward to that as much.

 
5 episodes in.  Pretty damn good.  One question and please put it in spoilers if it is a game changer.

I am 5 episodes in and they have yet to show how Matt M. "sees".  They did it in the first season and the way they presented it was cool as hell.  Do they do that again in season 2?  little disappointed they havent gone that route yet.

 
Pretty predictable final episode but what an awesome season.

question for those who finished season 2:

Did the Hand dig up Electra to bring her back or is she already immortal and she got out on her own?

I don't know how to get the spoiler thing to work.  I got the idea it was the second.  Though it could have to do with Black Sky.
