Not much respect being given to the 2008 NL Wildcard winners. Even the Reds and Astros seem to be getting more love. Yes there are quite a few question marks, especially on the pitching staff. But I think this offense, a little older, a little wiser, will put up a ton of runs

Can Gallardo and Parra offset at least some of the loss of CC and Sheets?

Will the bullpen be able to close games?

Can Billy Hall return to '06 form after Lasik surgery?

Will this be Rickie Weeks Breakout Year?

Can Corey Hart put together a full 6 months?

Either way, the past few years have been exciting with meaningful games in August and September

I just got yelled at by the old lady. Shes in bed and I yelled "GT FO" as he swung at that one. Dude can rake for a pitcher He was a bit shaky to start but settled in well and has worked the offspeed stuff.

Suppan will be fine (and by fine I mean he'll frustrate most Brewer fans and pitch like he did yesterday quite often). He's going to give up runs but does have some value on this staff as a 4/5. At the end of the year, he'll be 10-10 with about a 4.90 ERA. That will be serviceable IF (and a big if) YoGa, Parra and Bush are all over .500

The bullpen worries me a bit too. Not much we can do about it now.

No fishing. She is now "afraid" of this place. (If anyone is going to opening day in Milw. area, we will be at Long Wong's on Bluemound at 10am stat... ) Despite the name, it's a cool bar.I agree on Suppan. Mitch Stetter had zero command while pitching to the Freddie Lewis last night. He was wild inside almost hitting Lewis with his first pitch and outside with a WP later in the at bat. It's not like Lewis is Ryan Howard. He's unlikely to hurt you badly with a mistake, but Stetter couldn't throw a strike.

Stetter is the only LHP reliever on the squad. If he can't get mediocre lefty batter out, it'll hurt the entire bullpen.

It sounds like they're chalking it up to first time jitters. He did really well in spring training so hopefully that's the case.They optioned RJ Swindle in March so there is another option if it really comes down to it.

But at any rate, Gallardo pitched an 8 inning, 11K, 2-hit gem to seal the sweep of the Bucs. And he sets a Brewer record for most home runs as a pitcher with his 4th career longball (2nd this year).

CC who? In all seriousness, as much as I'd love Parra to come around sooner than later, Bush has really gained my confidence and Looper has been quite solid. We'll have to suffer the mediocrity of Suppan unfortunately, but even he has picked it up lately. I think they are going to feed off each other. Parra just needs to find some semblance of control.

Agreed 100%. Parra dealing early tonight....The bats are coming around, the staff is eating innings, and Hoffman has looked well in his first week back. I am optimistic.

I wasn't very impressed with the Brewers signing a "washed up" 40 something reliever. When he was hurt before the season even started that only solidfied my opinion. I'm glad I was completely wrong about that move. I hope he keeps it up since he's been absolutely phenominal so far.

I know, but from what I understand to be what people say about Gamel, he could be a Braun/Fielder level player... and as good as Weeks is, I'd take another Braun or Fielder over him...

Braun was also a "defensive liability" when brought up too......

I'm really tentative about Gamel at 3B. Love his bat and project him as high as anyone. I see him as kind of combination of Robin Ventura and Mark Teixeira. The problem is, I think he belongs at 1B not 3B and there isn't anything that can be done to get him playing time there. Prince should be moved by the 2010 trade deadline. Bill Hall is a pouter and if he gives up too many AB to Gamel he has a very high likely hood of imploding.

It will be very interesting to see how this plays out.....

But it is unanimous throughout the organization that Escobar cannot be moved from shortstop. He is far too good on defense, even though he is still learning to harness all his talent and make smart decisions at a premium position.

That leaves Hardy as the man to move, either to third or second base. But there is no wavering by Hardy when he discusses the possibility. He wants to play short.

"If the Brewers want to use him, I feel like I'll still be playing shortstop somewhere," Hardy said. "Just not with Milwaukee. There's nothing I can do about it, so it's one of those things I don't worry about.

"But no, I don't see myself moving (positions) anytime soon."

Thanks for the link Stryker. I remembered reading it this Spring, but I couldn't find a link to validate it for the life of me. I still owe you a couple of beers, I forgot all about posting on here that I was going to the Cubs game. The next game I have tickets to is July 11 against the Dodgers, but I don't know if I will be in town longer than just for the game.

Solid contact at the plate, even though he only had a single through the hole at short to show for it. Fielding wise, he was fine for the most part. The only hiccup I can remember was a slow chopper to second he double clutched on transferring the ball from glove to hand that allowed the runner to beat the throw. They scored it a hit, but it could have gone as an error, just as easily.

According to the Journal this morning, the experiment is over.

Manager Ken Macha said that Gamel would see the majority of the time at third base during this weekend's series against the Braves, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.Spin:It looks like the Brewers have finally run out of patience for Bill Hall and will give Gamel a chance at the starting third base job. He'll need to cut back on his strikeouts if he wants to hang onto it, but expect more playing time for him in the near future.[breaking News]
