Really? Considering he wasn't first in wins, strikeouts, ERA, or any other important category, that seems like an odd comment to make. Honestly, for me, it is a very tough call. Oswalt, Webb, Carpenter, or Hoffman would all be good picks.

Really now.2.10 ERA, 46 saves, WHIP below 1.00, 4 of his 6 HRA came in two games.A stat I looked up today: NEVER, in a non-strike season, has the league leader in wins had as few as 16.I agree that none of the starters jumped up and seized the day, so Hoffman (on a division champ, no less) gets my vote.
Zambrano's stats are about as good as any of the other starters. He was in a nightmare of a situation and still led the league in wins. He was a horse this year.

About as good, but not AS good. His ERA is almost half a run higher than Oswalt, Webb, and Carpenter's. He had a high strikeout total, but he also issued an un-Godly amount of walks, almost three times as many as Oswalt and Carpenter, and more than twice as many as Webb. Zambrano will probably finish in the top 5, but no way should he win it.WHIP is an important stat to look at, too. Carpenter 1.07Webb 1.13Oswalt 1.17Arroyo 1.19Zambrano 1.29
