***Official NY METS 2014 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

How crazy is it that tonight's games are, BY FAR, the biggest in Citi Field history. Also, it's incredible how bad Matt Williams is. The fact that Storen or Papelbon hasn't thrown a pitch yet is terrific.

I'm getting aroused listening to this talk about who has the best stuff. Thinking that Wheeler and Matz are waiting to join these three.

Mets fans have been dying for an offense for seemingly forever. Just a mediocre offense would make this team an instant contender. Hopefully these additions/Duda waking up is what we needed. F the Wildcard, I want the division!

Btw, Noah will be the best of the bunch IMO. Funny now he was the name alot of mets fans were willing to part with...

Speaking of Matz, anyone heard on his progress?
Report was that he was ahead of schedule. But as much as I want him in there, he needs not to reinjure and be lost for stretch.
Looking at early Sept return per SNY.

How much FUN is this?

When is the last time baseball was this FUN?

When you have a legit stud pitcher three times in the rotation things should be pretty good. Now that we have a lineup, 60% of the time we head in the better team. Often by a good stretch. And, as noted, Matz and next year Wheeler in the wings.

Can't wait to get back to citi.

I know I will get bombed for this as raining on a parade esq but while it seems the bats are awaken and alive and we are in new territory the Mets only scored in 6 of their 28 innings vs Washington and only 1 of those 6 innings did they score more than 1 run (last nights 5 run 3rd).....

That is still a lot of 0's across the scoreboard and only 1 multi score inning.

I know everyone is saying they finally have a lineup and depth but I still want to see some hits with RISP before I feel comfortable to anoint them with finally having a competent lineup that can bring us to a playoff birth.

OK, back to the party.

Cespedes

D'arnaud

Kelly Johnson

Uribe

A renewed Duda

(maybe one day) Wright

Not sure how they can't be better. Obviously we can't expect HR barrages every night, and Duda will come down to earth, but let's not forget who we had in the 3 and 4 spots just a week ago.

Yep. No doubt. On paper they are better.

I'm just saying I want to see actual consistent results before propping them up as the new darlings of MLB.

I hear ya. I guess there was no room but up - but we do need to see that up and have it last.
