***Official NY METS 2014 Thread*** (2 Viewers)

Thor a bit off right now.

Damn, gave two runs right back. Let's hope he settles down.

Well, that was a disappointing series. Need to beat the teams we should beat.

That said, can't argue overall. Will be key to see how the team reacts to this bump in the road. Nat's have hardly taken advantage and by coming back we will still be uptrending significantly.

I took some positives out of this series despite the overall loss. Will be good to see how they respond to the 4 games vs COL.

No.

The mets have 3 more wins than the Rays and play in a substantially weaker division.
Touchy are we? It is the Mets thread.

And that doesn't mean the Rays are a bad team, but the Mets record and who they have out there on those days are different things. That said, I'll give you that perhaps I overstated a bit. Go Devil Rays.

I read this thread. I like the mets. Were my team till the Rays were born.

Oh, I was not at all questioning the credentials, but rather the fact that many of us here may be at times delusionally bullish, or delusionally doom bringing.

Nice comeback win, and the Big 3 are on the mound the next three days.

Two other very nice things: Cuddyer not starting against righties, AND Wright playing a rehab game tonight and (apparently) not dying.

What's Uribe's role when Wright comes back, especially if Wright hits and you want him in the lineup other than rest.

All of a sudden we've got one of the better benches in the game.

Headed to the game tonight. Best place to buy tickets? I assume a place like seatgeek? Is it one of those things where the longer I wait the better off I am going to be? Or should I just buy them early this morning?

I'll be there tonight with 6 other buddies (our entire Mets email thread minus the guy who lives in Chicago...that level of commitment from our bunch really shows how things have turned around). We bought on Stubhub last week...$27/each for the lower RF bleachers. Prices are up since then, and inventory is down, so if you see something you like, I would just grab now. Team coming off two wins, deGrom starting, perfect weather forecast, and a day game tomorrow should lead to a nice crowd tonight so I don't see much benefit in waiting unless you're looking for pricier seats.

Hahaha Harper sitting against Greinke tonight.
Hey now, play nice. We're mostly happy for you guys in DC- at least this beats losing to the Phils, Braves or Cardinals.

And you won't see me celebrating when Harvey snaps his UCL again in spring training after throwing 200 innings in his rehab year ;)

Is he actually nursing a sore knee? At the time I thought it was just very convenient that he was sitting against him after the whole "he's not that good, gets strikes 6 inches off the plate" comment.

If he's actually hurt I withdraw the laughter obviously.

I've done stubhub the morning of with success.

Do people still scalp tickets outside the stadium?

Yeah he's definitely hurt. He couldn't have possibly picked a worse time to sit- there's no way the manager would have let him do it. They've faced a run of lefties, including a tough one today. Any of those matchups would have made for a better rest day. And yesterday they had to start eight righties against an RHP and they also had to play a lumbering Clint Robinson in RF (picture Bartolo Colon manning the outfield) because Harper is one of only two competent defensive OFs on the current 25 man roster Total disaster. Also there's video of him wincing after a slide late in Monday's game, after the injury supposedly occurred in the 3rd inning.

I'd be pretty surprised if he plays today. In fact I'd be kind of surprised if he plays before the weekend. If he does I suspect he'll be less than 100% and will just be out there to work walks and play functional OF defense.

I just bought 3 tickets at 76 pop in section 126. Not terrible, but I rarely go, so whatever.

It's been years since I've been there. Can I bring a big bag of peanuts?
Yeah. Just check the bag policies if you're planning on bringing anything in that isn't plastic. Not sure if they've adopted those NFL like policies but if you're planning on bringing a backpack or something, you should check their site.

Oh and nice seats.

The line to get in was pretty long. I had just 3 kids with me and a lady told me to go to the front if I had no bags/purses etc...

So if you see a long line you should be able to go to the front where they will allow people who do not need a bag check.

I took a small water bottle with some premixed vodka/cranberry juice...what....don't judge me. Like I said I was alone with 3 kids.

damn.

after losing those two in a row the fut Mets fan reaction was, for me at least, ugh here itngoes again.

when you have 2 established aces and a young guy thats brings that same level, its amazing how that lets just a few key hits really impact a game.

Just bought my tickets to the Labor Day game against the Nats. This is the most fun I've had watching the Mets in quite a while.

Meh,

just sounds like someone posting a trade scenario in the shark pool

Boston Globe baseball columnist Nick Cafardo suggested that the Red Sox might consider trading shortstop Xander Bogaerts to the New York Mets for one-time phenom pitcher Matt Harvey in an attempt to bolster their sagging pitching staff.
Oh I know it isn't happening. I just couldn't believe a guy like Bob Ryan was arguing that Harvey wasn't worth Bogaerts. I really like them calling Harvey a "one-time phenom" like he's a guy struggling to bring down a 4+ ERA.

I don't want any of those three pitchers going anywhere.

Hey MC how were the seats?
Great. We were close enough to the action and wound up in the last row of the bottom level on the 3rd base line. The sight lines were great, and the overhang did not interfere. I loved being able to just pop over the rail and quickly run to the bathroom and grab beer/food. I'd love season tickets right there, honestly. Also protected from the weather. Not that we needed it, it was the perfect night for a game.

This town would go nuts if you traded any of those three at this point. There are like 5 guys in baseball I would trade Harvey or deGrom for, and it sure as #### isn't Xander Boegarts. The chance all these pitchers stay healthy is really slim. So unless you get a ridiculous talent, you sit tight.
