If Penix misses significant time then obviously it will be ugly for UW.
Easily is a bit too much you are right. However, with Nix they were driving down field all day. Back up QB comes in and they run four straight times and get stuffed 4th and 1 in own territory allowing UW to score go ahead field goal. Pretty important 4 plays to not have your QB.I thought you were joking when you said Oregon would’ve “easily” beat UW at Autzen because Nix missed 4 plays but obviously not.OK I thought you were just joking but now I realize you are serious. Yes Nix came back for the final series but he was playing on 1 leg at maybe 40%. He was maybe 50% but still managed to beat Utah and played hurt when losing to OSU. If Penix goes down it would be ugly for UW.Oregon also was fortunate last year injury-wise except, apparently, losing Nix for 4 plays during a critical game.Washington got very lucky with no injuries last year except for a few games at CB. They do not have much depth so the injuries to their starting RB and offensive lineman will hurt. They need to stay healthy in order to have any shot against USC and Oregon.
The more I look at it I think Oregon has a great shot again at reaching the playoffs. They were right there last year until Nix got hurt. Offense was top in the PAC 12 before his injury and they have all skill positions coming back but lose some offensive lineman. However, got some very good lineman in the portal and some good 4 star youngsters.
Defense needs to step up from last year for sure. Lanning cleaned house this offseason of guys that didn't fit his scheme and brought in 5-6 starters from the portal and hearing good reports so far.
I have Oregon vs USC in PAC 12 championship game rematch. Winner to playoffs.
UW did have good luck with injuries last season. Losing their RB Davis does suck but they have 4 other experienced RBs that will fill in well, including the transfers from Mississippi St and ASU that may prove to be as good or better.
The lineman UW unfortunately lost for the season was a backup, not a starter. But, yeah, depth matters.
If Penix had missed 4 plays in that game then maybe Oregon wins but certainly not easily.
That’s all I’m saying.
If Penix got hurt exactly like Nix did last year UW would have lost 3 straight to end season. If Penix misses significant time then obviously it will be ugly for UW.

lol no. Let me rephrase, if playing Oregon schedule they would have lost to Utah and Oregon State to end season. If Penix got hurt exactly like Nix did last year UW would have lost 3 straight to end season. If Penix misses significant time then obviously it will be ugly for UW.
You think they would have lost to last place Colorado?

Nix also fumbled a ball when the offense got cute right at the UW 1 yardline. Score there and the game is much different. UW would have been down a lot more.
Am I remembering that correctly?
Because UW was getting the ball run down their throat in the 4th down 4 until on 2nd and 2 from the 20 the center had a horrible snap passed Nix setting up 3rd and long. Normal snap and it is game over with Oregon going up 2 scores with 3 minutes left. QB draw and Nix gets hurt next play.Yes.I thought you were joking when you said Oregon would’ve “easily” beat UW at Autzen because Nix missed 4 plays but obviously not.OK I thought you were just joking but now I realize you are serious. But Penix also made a terrible decision and threw a pick at the goal line as well. Sixes.
Bottom line—-it was a very even game with two great offenses and not so great defenses on that day.
Not sure why Schmeabs is implying it was a lucky win for UW saying that Oregon would’ve won handily if Nix didn’t miss those 4 plays. Frankly, it was an impressive road win for the Dawgs.![]()
Yep, I just bet a guy last night $100 on Oregon vs Washington straight up no points. I did the same bet against USC.Well, it sets up for a great game this year in Montlake!
PAC-12 with a 3-0 record on the season!
Who is the Pac12 team left who could endanger the perfect start? Arizona has N. Arizona
UCLA vs Coastal Carolina?
Oregon State should handle San Jose.
Washington State playing Colorado State now, but the Rams have been awful.
Beats spreading the love. Shedeur Sanders gave his Colorado team mates Beats as well.Posted in the other thread, but should have gone here. New Oregon State QB DJU signed a deal with Beats - gave his whole team a pair. This is awesome.

Great week for the PAC. Best part is that it guarantees Washington will be the only team in the history of the PAC to go 0-12.
I suspect it's because Portland St. is FCSMan, Oregon scores several hundred points in their opener and are still ranked behind three other PAC-12 teams? Ouch.

UW did schedule Boise St and Michigan St years ago for this season---both frequently top 25 teams. Unfortunately, not this year.I suspect it's because Portland St. is FCSMan, Oregon scores several hundred points in their opener and are still ranked behind three other PAC-12 teams? Ouch.![]()
Well, of course. Kudos to USC, Colorado, Stanford and Wazzou for having the cajones to schedule a ranked opponent for one of their non-conference games in this, the final season of the Pac-12.
Do you attend all the SC home games? So no smack talking after week 1? Oregon, Washington and USC offenses looking downright ridiculous? Colorado a contender? Beavs taking care of business (with a better defensive performance than the Trojans against the Spartans)? Utah thumping Florida without a bunch of their starters? I guess everyone in the conference did well. But conference play starts next week! (At least for USC and Stanford)

Portland State is like a high school team. It's basically a commuter college and sports aren't important there at all. They collect a nice check to go be sacrificial lambs for an afternoon and then go prepare for Montana State who will also kick them in the giblets.
You can't take anything away from this game. I'm just relieved it wasn't Georgia.
Hey, just 2 years ago Washington dared to schedule Montana and even though they played them at home in Seattle they couldn't avoid losing to the juggernaut that is the Montana Grizzlies.Man, Oregon scores several hundred points in their opener and are still ranked behind three other PAC-12 teams? Ouch.

Yeah, I'm just waiting for @Schmeabs to take another jab at Washington for their easy schedule last year!
Rankings don't matter but Brett McMurphy has UW 7, Oregon 9, Beavs 13....and USC 14. Hmmmm....
I'd love to see Oregon State exact vengeance through the whole conference but I don't trust that DJU can make that happen.
I’ll do my Pac-12 predictions for end of season (prior to Pac-12 playoff game):
1. USC
2. Washington
3. Oregon
4. Oregon State
5. Utah
6. UCLA
and all the rest . . .
Not really going out on a limb here.
To be clear, if I were a betting man, I'd say that no Pac-12 team makes the playoffs. Ultimately, I think that the conference is just too loaded with talent for a team to make it through the Pac-12 championship with only 1 loss.

I unfortunately agree. Every team has a landmine or two ahead of them.
I've taken a long pause wagering on college football after a rather nasty losing streak last year so I'm trying to avoid it in 2023 BUT........I'm quite tempted to take Nebraska +3.5. Rhule is not a bad coach and I don't think Colorado is for real. They don't have much on the offensive line and their defense is still pretty bad. This game was Nebraska -7 a week ago. That's a huge overreaction.
My updated Pac12 Rankings:
1. USC
2. Utah
3. Washington
4. Oregon
5. Oregon State
6. UCLA
7. Washington State
8. Colorado
9. Cal
10. Stanford
11. Arizona
12. Arizona State
Nah, Florida is horrible. Utah backed into the championship game last year. Rising is likely out for some time. My rankings. My updated Pac12 Rankings:
1. USC
2. Utah
3. Washington
4. Oregon
5. Oregon State
6. UCLA
7. Washington State
8. Colorado
9. Cal
10. Stanford
11. Arizona
12. Arizona State
Good list. I feel like a lot of folks (including myself) are sleeping on Utah. Two time defending champs with stout defense and they just beat Florida without their starting QB and some other starters. Just not sure when Rising and Kuithe will be back.
