***Official*** Pac-12 Final Season Thread (1 Viewer)

9am kicks (all times PT because west coast is the best coast - home teams in caps, betting favorites listed 1st):
COLORADO -3 vs Nebraska
Utah -7.5 vs BAYLOR

2pm:
WASHINGTON -34.5 vs Tulsa

4pm
Oregon -6.5 vs TEXAS TECH

4:30pm
WASHINGTON ST. -6 vs Wisconsin
MISSISSIPPI ST -9 vs Arizona
Ucla -14.5 vs SAN DIEGO ST

6pm
OREGON ST NL vs UC Davis

7:30pm
Oklahoma St -3 vs ARIZONA ST
Auburn -6.5 vs CAL
USC -29.5 vs Stanford

I think Nebraska holds Colorado down and squeaks by with a win. But I'm not feeling great about that prediction.

Utah should handle Baylor, but that's a road game and you never know.

Washington with a gimme before heading into East Lansing.

I think Oregon wins this one on the road, but I don't think it'll be easy sledding. Tech has some big receivers and Tyler Shough might want a little revenge for the way the Ducks treated him as their starter.

Cougs are really hard to beat at home, but this is a tough test.

Starkville is the Pullman of the SEC, IMO. Tough place to play. I think Arizona loses this one.

UCLA should be able to handle the Aztecs. Chip Kelly vs Brady Hoke is like Gary Kasparov vs Gilligan in a game of chess.

Beavs game should be electric despite the cupcake opponent. This is their first game in the fully renovated stadium, so I'm hoping the fans show up.

I don't see OK St losing this one, even on the road.

Cal might give Auburn a game. Wilcox is a hell of a coach and rehired Jake Spavital to run his offense. All that guy did in 2016 was average 37 points and 513 yards per game. I'm calling an upset of Auburn here. Hugh Freeze doesn't deserve nice things.

USC cruises again, but they don't cover the spread. Stanford has a new offense and USC's defense is still leaky.

As the PAC-12 enters what appears to be its final season, this not so safe space has been created to accommodate grudges, friendly bets, not so friendly bets, snide remarks, smack talk, and general disgruntlement as the Conference of Champions embarks on its last hurrah (or perhaps more fittingly, its last gasp). Will the spurned Beavers exact vengeance on their soon to be departed Pac-12 opponents? Will the Ducks prove that they are more than an open wallet and gaudy uniforms? Will the Trojans become even more intolerably pompous and annoying? Pull up a chair and let's find out together!

Any predictions for the season?
A little ironic that this could be one of the best seasons for the Pac 12 as a whole right before they implode.

Deep conference and highly doubt anyone is running the table in it.

Man, there is a disappointing lack of smack talk in here following week 2. I guess @Schmeabs and @General Malaise are just breathing a sigh of relief that they pulled that one off. Washington rolling once again, so I’m sure @The Dreaded Marco enjoyed his Saturday. Utah survives a close one, while Coach Prime shows that he has game on defense as well. Oregon State and UCLA win big while Wazzou upsets ranked Wisconsin.

As for USC, the first team played the first half and completely undressed Stanford 49-3. The second team comes in for the second half and looks very mediocre going 7-7 for the balance of the game, giving credence to GM’s comments about depth.

Still, USC’s starting defense and special teams looked great, which is a scary prospect if they continue to perform even anywhere close to that against better competition.

And while Caleb steals all the headlines for the offense, I think the real story is just how many weapons there are on that side of the ball. 8 different players were involved in each of USC’s TDs:

Caleb Williams - 21 yard rush TD
MarShawn Lloyd - 5 yard rush TD
Austin Jones - 1 yard rush TD
Zachariah Branch - 75 yard punt return TD
Dorian Singer - 19 yard receiving TD
Brenden Rice - 75 yard receiving TD
Lake Mcree - 1 yard receiving TD
Miller Moss - 15 yard rush TD

Washington dominated again against an inferior opponent. Not much to brag about.

Their more dominating win against a better Boise St team last week was more impressive, but they went and lost at home to UCF this week, so…..

UW’s defense and running game have to step it up for them to have any chance at a conference title or the CFP.

Playing at Michigan St. next week is a tougher challenge. I’ll be at that game in person. REALLY excited for it.

Yeah, the tough part of USC’s schedule still lies ahead

@ Colorado (18)
@ Notre Dame (9)
Utah (12)
Washington (8)
@ Oregon (13)
UCLA (24)

Of course, the other PAC-12 teams in contention have similarly difficult schedules (sans Notre Dame). This season is gonna be crazy. I still don’t think anyone survives with only one loss.

I agree. I’ll be amazed if any P12 team wins every league game.

Yeah, have to think the whole country will be Huskies fans for that one.

Oregon is favored by 37. Hooooooo boy and I'm going to that one. Taking my 11 year old daughter, her first Ducks' game. Will help move my 2nd oldest son into his house that he's sharing with 3 other dudes.

Here's a pro-tip! Tell your sons to befriend a male student with an older sister at the university. If she has a house or condo or whatever and is graduating, see if little brother can scoop up that lease and ride coattail for a room. Chances are also great if the older sister had furnishings that they don't want to haul with them. Moms will eagerly sell them to the new crop of renters for pennies on the dollar because they don't want the Ikea beds either.

8 teams in the Top 25
3 of the top Heisman contenders
And conference play is finally here!!!

@General Malaise - do you want to post the lines?

Happy to!

Went to the Oregon game on Sat. The game was on Pac12 Network so nobody saw it. Despite that, every stoppage of play came with a 2 minutes 54 second break (oddly specific, but they have a neat little digital clock guy who runs on to the field to show the stadium how long we have to wait to resume play). The 1st quarter took an eternity. When Oregon made it 31-0 early in the 2nd, my daughter and I bolted for the local pizza joint, barely beating the rush. By the time we left, people were circling looking for a table. I have a feeling I'll be staying just a little longer this week!

:lmao:

I sure hope there's a positive outcome for Oregon in this one, but if the students rush the field after beating Colorado, I might have to apply for my old man card and tell people to vacate my lawn.

Also, I am right certain I'd rupture an Achilles leaping from the railing down to the field.

Nah, saving that for the USC win :)

It’s going to be one for the ages!

P.S. USC likely to be a bit better than Texas Tech so it should be a good matchup!

I'm nervous as hell about going to the Palouse. Tough place to win, and the Cougs look pretty tough. Cam Ward is legit. DJU struggled a bit with accuracy against SDSU.......back to pounding the rock!

Also, am I the only one who's sick of coach prime? I mean he's chirpin non stop about how it's all "personal".......it's getting old. That said, I hope they beat the ducks at Autzen.....uncle Phil might keel over!.....Lanning would certainly eat his words!......then beat the University of spoiled children? That would be pretty sweet, imo.....ain't happenin, but I'm glad it's actually a possibility. The buffs have been horrible for years.

No, you're not the only one who is sick of Coach Prime. The world is awash in folks like yourself opining that they're tired of Deion's schtick. But even saying you're tired of it is giving him exactly what he wants - your attention. He's got it, like it or not and you just proved it.

I've had my fill of Sanders but that's only because I grew up in Dallas and read the Dallas Morning News Sports Page cover to cover. When I went to college, my dad would mail the weekend sports pages to me so I could read them. Once he signed with the Cowboys, the coverage of Prime became nauseating, especially when his toe injuries surfaced. Believe me, a little Deion goes a long long way.

But, he's made the Buffaloes interesting and he did it overnight. And his act isn't meant for us; it's meant for young athletes who want to play for him and there's a LOT more that want to play for him now that he's coaching a major program, albeit one that's been forlorn for two decades.

Now, ask me on Sunday how I feel about after spending an afternoon watching his antics on the sideline. I may very well share your point of view when it's over, but I'll say it again - I haven't looked this forward to a game in Sept in years. And it's all because of Sanders.

Just got back from my doubleheader of Michigan football (UW @ MSU and Seahawks @ Lions). Turned out pretty sweet for me.

I have to say that Michigan St fans rival Nebraska’s in terms of hospitality toward opponent fans. We arrived 4-5 hours before kickoff to check out the campus and tailgating scene. I was in full Washington gear and couldn’t go more than 50 feet without someone offering me a cocktail, beer and/or food. Very kind folks.

The game was great too, off course.

Just in case it was missed by anybody....

Washington rolled into East Lansing and beat Michigan State by a gazillion. And I know the Spartans had a rough week but my god, that was an absolute undressing. Michael Penix threw for 473 yards and 4 TDs. He's averaging 444 passing yards a game. 12 TDs so far....

Shred Sanders is next at 417 yards a game. 10 TDs to boot.

Wash State's Cam Ward 330 YPG and 9 TDs.

And there's also Bo Nix somewhere out there and the kid from USC I think is decent.

Yeah, Spartan fans are top notch. Of course, they have to try extra hard to make up for doooooooooshy Michigan fans.

Yeah. I was at the Big House for the UW game two years ago and the reception was much less inviting.

The #### jokes that poor kid had to endure growing up... how does SOME generation in that family not just decide to change the family name?

Vacated Conference of Vacated Champions
And it's the best conference in college football this season! Oh the irony!

I mostly blame poor Pac 12 leadership, and USC......F USC

Better brew up another batch of haterade. You’re drinking it too fast!!
No USC literally caused this. USC has a loud voice in conference meetings......USC pretty much blocked expansion....Pat Haden was against it (Texas, Oklahoma) .....and then again after those two schools bailed for the SEC.......The remaining big 12 approached the Pac 12 to join......USC prez Carol Folt was strongly against it.

I think USC cratered the conference on purpose, and had already planned to go to the B1G. It's just sad to see the conference go away.......and all because of tv network money, and shady back room meetings.

There is a long history of the conference disrespecting and not having USC’s back, particularly during the whole Reggie Bush fallout, which in hindsight was pretty damn unfair to USC by any objective measure, but everyone relished USC getting slammed (and harmed competitively). That’s fine, but it’s sure not going to engender feelings of loyalty. And of course this latest move is all about the money, but when conference leadership is literally costing the schools 10s of millions of dollars annually, and games aren’t able to be seen anywhere but the West Coast, and recruiting is being undermined long term, what do you expect? Everyone who has whined about USC wants to complain now when they (and UCLA) respond positively to an offer of $60+ mil per year in tv money and leave to play in a conference with national exposure?

As for the claims about Carol Folt sabotaging PAC-12 expansion, I have a hard time believing that she had outsized influence (given what I know about her), but maybe she did. In any event, I don’t know what she (or USC) would stand to gain from the PAC-12 blowing up, particularly because it resulted in Oregon following them to the B1G, a team that is as good or better than them and that outrecruits them every year.

Gotta break this conference up, it's just too strong.

Which is the highest scoring game this season? UW-OR, OR-USC, or USC-UW? The score of each has to be something resembling an NBA score, right?

I'm for sure sick of him too.

I want the Ducks to shut them up, but I also hate the Ducks more than any sports team on earth, so I really don't know what I want to happen there. Either way, I hope that game is a blowout.

Flying down for the Utah game, you gonna be there?
