Brett, Brett, Brett.

Man of incredible highs, man of incredible lows. He giveth, and taketh away

Have to give him props for being the toughest QB ever (nice job today , btw, VikeQueens O line), and also have to for being the freaking Barry Sanders of QB's (as in he will make a play that you just gasp when you see it).

Vike Fans - good luck next year with Tavaris leading your team.

Just because Vikings fans were classless 3 years ago when Favre ruined our run at a title, doesn't mean we have to do the same when he ruined theirs. We're definitely not worse but we have a chance to be better than them.

Yea we're better than this. This is a thread a Viking fan would start if we just lost the NFC title game..I'm happy as hell they lost, but enough piling on is going on in the game thread.

Honda?

I love how a fantasy football message board is now being treated like a press conference for head coach. Don't say anything that the opposition can use as bulletin board material. Say all "the right things". Last time I checked Vikings fans gloated over the past decade when Favre gunslung our team out of a playoff game, gloated when he and the Packers went through their ugly divorce, gloated when his Jets jersey was the top seller and Green Bay went 6-10, and gloated from ear to ear all season long...even as we told them to be careful what they wished for. Well tonight they got back everything they had coming.

I agree. The thread title is clearly labeled Official Packer fan, Minnesota Hating Gloating thread. If vikings fans don't want their feelings hurt, than stay out of the thread.

I dont like doing this, this isnt fun. Maybe if Vikings fans literally pissed in my cheerios every morning Id revel in this a little more, but losing sucks. Not cool.

I am a huge Vikes fan, you can not ignore how ironic the ending to this season is. A guy that we publicly hated for 17 years. I say publicly ,because most of us are football fans and secretly we loved to watch him play. We just hated it was for the Packers! We always waited in disbelieve how he continued to bring the Pack back in games and just waited and waited for that big mistake. When it came we cheered like crazy!

Now we spend an incredible season rooting for him and waiting week in and week out for that bonehead throw that cost us a game. The throw we waited for 16 times a season for 17 years, and when it happened we laughed and cheered. How painfully ironic that we watched for 17 games and it never came. Then out of the blue, as if it was in slow motion, you see him look back across the field and you know, you just know it is about to happen. The play we spent 17 years rooting for was about to happen again, only this time he would be wearing purple!

I almost expect him to pull off the Vikings jersey and see a Packers jersey on underneath it, and for him to yell " HA, the jokes on you losers!" and then he runs to the stands and Mike McCarthy gives him a big hug and they laugh about the greatest pratical joke ever played in the history of professional sports.

I try to think of any analogy in sports that could equal the irony in this situation, it just escapes me right now.

Classless? Sure. Oh, your talking about this thread. I was talking about Farve.

The only thing better would of been for the Vikes to Win and then get Farved in the Super Bowl.

70% Passer rating

Brutal passing decisions at key times in the game.

Farve spent 5 years screwing with the Packers - just a little fun sticking him

Oh - and look out Drew Brees - in the interview after the game -- Farve said "Sean Payton has done an unbelievable job," said Favre. "I would have loved to have represented the NFC. I like their team, the way he handles their team". In Farve speak that's - "the Vikes Sucked, I want to try on your team"

I guess this thread is just payback for Favre trying to run up the score in the MIN/GB game. He audibled from a running play late in the game when they were trying to run out the clock to a pass play so he could stick it to the Packers. I think we have the right to gloat a little.

 Welcome to the world of having Favre as your QB.He gives you such great highs...and is capable of giving you the gut punch that you are not sure you will recover from.Again...for all the whiners...I am not saying the loss was his fault.

and for the years of "I'm retiring", and then "oh, just kidding"and the screwing the Pack to get to the Vikingsand being a lousy mentor to Rodgersand the fact that he blew all sorts of games for us, just like he did last nightIf he had been a man and just said - screw you guys, you suck, I want elsewhere, at least that's honest. But no, he has to be Saint Farve. Bite Me

And the fact we get to punk Viking Fans - there's always merit in that!

Lots of class displayed here. I guess being classy doesn't kick in until you pass the 6th grade

i like the barry comparison.Barry was an amazing talent, but everyone who says they'd take him over emmitt smith is crazy because barry consistently led the league in rushes for a loss.

he killed a lot of drives to go with all the highlight long runs.

same with brett.. made some absolutely amazing plays.. won a lot of games.

lost a LOT of games in key moments with big INT's. see 2007 and 2010 championship games for most recent references.

still though.. he made a ton of money and did bring a title to green bay.
Well call me crazy then because I would take Barry Sanders every ####### day of the week over Emmitt Smith and 6 times on Sunday!

Even as a Packer fan, I feel for you man. At least you seem to be keeping it light.

Nothing wrong with doing this I did it last year when Philly choked in the NFC Championship game after kicking Dallas butt 44-6 to knock Dallas out but let me tell ya it feels much better to come back the next season and do the butt kicking yourself like Dallas did to Philly this season. I have a real good feeling that the Packers will be kicking the Vikes butt this up coming season no matter if Favre comes back or not. Pay backs my friend. Gloat it up in the mean time!!

Whoever takes Barry Sanders over Emmitt Smith is a prisoner of the Highlight. Emmitt was the better all around back. Pure runner- Barry maybe the best ever

Short yardage- Emmitt- the best ever

Receiver - even

Pass blocking- Emmitt one of the best ever

Toughness- Emmitt one of the toughest ever

Heart-Emmitt I want someone to say other wise with a straight face

Football smarts- Emmitt off the charts

Leadership- Emmitt off the charts

Highlight reel-Barry the best ever

Sorry but Emmitt is the better back, yeah Barry could make something outa nothing (Emmitt did that more then a couple times as well believe that) but that alone does not make him the better back. Emmitt was a football player and was a warrior while Barry was just a highlight machine that did not have the heart or love for the game that Emmitt had and it showed.

The Vikes could very well have Mcnabb as their QB next season or maybe even Vick. Neither of them will do what Favre did this year though. Vikes blew their chance yesterday.I doubt they get back to the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP with or without Favre next season.

I'm not sure what is worse, the fact that I'm not surprised that this thread exists or the stereotypical Packer faithful reaction - Defend him to the death in green & gold then claim a QB that has accomplished nothing in the post-season is a better option once he spurns your team.

But at least the Packers can claim that they lost to the team that lost to the team that lost to the team** that won the Super Bowl. :hophead:

** = provided the Colts beat the Saints by 4 points as Vegas is predicting.

You might want to check out how many Packer fans have reacted to this thread. And right now...Rodgers is the better option for the Packers going forward.I won't claim anything about the Packers other than happy they improved this year...sucks they lost twice to the Vikings...sucks they lost in the playoffs. That and happy we know who our QB will be next year.

The OP does not speak for all Packer fans. After all the Vikings spanked the Packers twice this year, won the NFC North and made it to the NFC Championship game. They were clearly the better team yesterday too but decided to play like they were carrying a hot potato and the coaches were coaching not to lose. Maybe next year the Packers will have something on the Vikings but until they do I'm keeping my mouth shut.

To all you who think this is just about "bad sports" and "classless"

You have no idea what being a fan is

Being a fan is John Hughes (father of the star Badger Center/Forwards in the 70's) screaming at Al Maguire (coach of Marquette for you children) giving him the finger (x2) while Al is standing on the scorers table at the Badger Field House screaming at the 10,000 badger fans who are all screaming back, having just beaten the Badgers in triple overtime.

Being a fan is remembering that and knowing the only important game in Badger basketball is the Marquette game, and the only important thing is we smoke their second rate crappy little team again.

I won't throw "classless" around. But certainly not showing a very good attitude. But I know what being a fan is.I know that regardless of the Vikings winning or losing...GB was still already done...so gloating about a team that got further than Green Bay is a bit silly.Did it make me slightly happy that his last pass this year was an INT...sure...did it affect my team? Nope.So no need to gloat to stoop to the level of those fans who have been mocking the Packers the last 2 years.

And not to just sound like rah rah homer guy...but to me, being a Packer fan means not gloating like this or acting like others just because you think it makes you a fan.

I feel we should be better than this.

Don't be such a bunch of ninnys! The fact that Favre played so well all season, ballooning expectations, only to give Vikings fans the ole' gut punch yesterday could only have been sweeter if it came in the SB. I never thought there would be a more enjoyable Vikings loss than '99, but yet, here it is!!

I'm not sure what is worse, the fact that I'm not surprised that this thread exists or the stereotypical Packer faithful reaction - Defend him to the death in green & gold then claim a QB that has accomplished nothing in the post-season is a better option once he spurns your team.
Or Vikings fans calling him all kinds of names and hating for 17 years only to call him "God" when he comes to your team? I've never seen more hypocrisy than I've seen this year from Viking fans when it comes to Favre playing for them.

Ironically despite all that happening, it turns out better for us Packer fans because we get to draft higher this year. Who cares the Vikings made it to the NFC Champ game. No one really remembers who "made" it there. They lost, we lost is the bottom line. Both teams are home watching the Superbowl, and we get the better draft pick., AND we know who our QB is next year. ;)

I'll jump in here for a moment. Cold Hard Football Facts has a nice list of Favre playoff gaffes, and this simply adds to them. I am a huge Packer fan and hoped the Vikings would lose, plain and simple. The fact that Favre, like Rodgers a couple weeks earlier, directly contributed to that loss with a pick was icing on the cake. While many love Favre to death, there are many of us Packer fans who couldn't stand his gunslinging aspects and felt he was way to reckless "trying to make a play" and would have taken someone less dynamic and more careful with the ball if that's what it would take to win. Instead, Packer fans ended up with the best of both worlds (dynamic and careful) with Rodgers.

Favre is still really good, but the fact that he's contributed to multiple playoff losses for our team makes it seem like poetic justice when he does the same to "our" team's hated rival. He was not the direct reason they lost, just like Rodgers wasn't against Arizona, but both will be remembered because QBs get most of the attention. I wish he would retire for good because it helps the Packers chances to win the division, but at the same time, the games against MIN are way better and more intense with Favre. And for that matter, most of us who hate on Favre only hate on him because he is with the Vikings. I know many of us would be rooting for him had he stayed with the Jets. Being a fan isn't logical, and enjoying the crestfallen hearts of rivals fan is part of that, as some Vikings fans have probably enjoyed Packer fans suffering as well. It comes with the territory, no reason to sugar coat it or apologize for it IMO.

Yup...and lets not forget...by trading him, we picked up a 3rd rounder that was used to trade up and get Clay Matthews.
