TU - sucks to hear......hope you make it to the show after allListening to 10/31/09 right now.....I almost forgot how badass that show was :football:
Been playing this in my car all week. Finally got to Porch today. Forgot how awesome it was when Ed fumbled the opening line and the entire crowd sang the whole first verse.

Sitting in a bar in Hartford for some preshow brew and pizza. Downtown Hartford is a pretty small area with not a ton going on on a weekend afternoon/evening besides whatever is going on at the XL center, so the whole area is uber PJ nuts right now. Walked past about 4 or 5 bars and all are packed with PJ fans and have PJ blaring out of the jukeboxes. Kinda cool vibe. Have a feeling the show is going to be a good one. Hartford seems to get some cool setlists.

3 observations:

1. Pearl Jam fans are not a particularly racially diverse fanbase

2. Drunken obnoxious New England PJ fans bellowing with that accent about how "Riot Act sucks" and "Nothingman ####in rules!" Really toe the line between parody and obnoxiousness

3. Hot bartenders make people buy drinks and shots they normally wouldn't

Downtown Hartford is kinda a strange place. As stated earlier, it's kinda dead, especially on weekends. It does have a #### ton of bars, though, and PJ fans basically took downtown over yesterday. Walking around, every bar was packed and nothing but PJ was pouring out of the jukeboxes and pouring onto the street. The bar I was at prior actually got so crowded that people were just standing outside drinking on the sidewalk. Cool vibe, and I guess the cops allow that when there's a show at the XL center.I made my way in around 8:15 or so. The XL center was built in 1975 and is a pretty standard single concourse multiuse arena, kinda similar to the Spectrum, actually. The sections are pretty steep, so it really feels intimate. The downside is that the concourse is a #### show. Jam packed before the show, couldn't really move. Took me about 25 minutes to buy a beer. By now I was worried I would miss the open, but I got my $9 brews and made my way to my seats, which were very solid. Three sections down on Stone's side in the 100 level, front row, which means there was a barrier in front to lean against/over, which came in handy. Great view, and 1 minute after sitting down, the house lights dimmed and the boys were on stage.

Set List: Unthought Known, Corduroy, Do The Evolution, Got Some, Severed Hand, Dissident, Low Light, Amongst The Waves, Even Flow, Nothingman, Johnny Guitar, I Got ####, Jeremy, Daughter/WMA, Satan's Bed, Lukin, Gonna See My Friend1st encore: (Dan Perkin’s AKA “Tom Tomorrow” comes out on stage), Just Breathe (Dedicated to Dan and his family), Speed of Sound, State of Love and Trust, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love (Van Halen) Dedicated to the University of Connecticut “UConn” Huskies NCAA Woman’s basketball team, Porch2nd encore: The Fixer-Dedicated to Jennifer Jaff, Crazy Mary, Alive, Indifference - Ed discusses JP Hero charity for Haiti and Sean Penn, All Along The Watchtower with Ben Bridwell from “Band Of Horses”- (Dylan)
The setlist was solid, but what made this show was the crowd and the vibe from the band. At one point Ed something along the lines of, "This is the kind of show you wish all your friends and families could be at so they could see that you've made something of yourself"Mike was on fire all night, killer solos, especially on Low Light, Evenflow, and Crazy Mary (duelling with Boom) and he killed the EVH solo on "Ain't talkin' 'bout love," even outroing the song with some Eruption. At one point towards the end Stone either slipped or dropped to the ground as he was soloing, and Mike joined him, the two of them on their knees facing each other and just rocking the #### out! Was pretty cool.It really was a celebratory feel, a ton of positive energy and joy out there in that little arena. It wasn't ALL love, though. A frat punk next to me decided to throw his entire beer up in the air, and we all got pretty wet. Now I didn't mind all that much, but the guy next to me on the other side was a 350 lb guy who looked like he walked off the set of the Sopranos. He absolutely flipped out, and I thought he was going to kill the frat kid. Frat boy was terrified. I was just afraid it was going to become a whole big disctraction from the show. Sopranod dude's wife calmed him down a bit, and then they left, which meant I now had a ton of room to rock out! Other than that it was a great show, a great night and a great experience all the way around. So glad I decided to go at the last minute. And I will try to never miss a Hartford show from now on.

Hartford was awesome. It was my first PJ show in about 9 years (can't believe I waited that long). Sat on the side of the stage real close and it was great watching the band interact with each other. I wished they swapped out Speed of Sound for Force of Nature but other than that the setlist was great. Loved Jeremy, which I really never was too fond of before, but the crowd interaction made that a highlght. Crazy Mary rocked - loved the jam at the end.

The Civic (XL) Center is a great place to see a concert - it has fantastic acoustics.

NICE, TU!! just what I was hoping to hear, a revierw like that. great stuff thanks! you've got me realizing how close it is!!!! I cannot wait to get on this plane in a few hours. pretty loaded right now and am feeling the NY/PJ vibe for sure. Let me babble for a minute.. Been an eventful night for me and now with the anticipation of the next week, i'm fired up, no way I crash tonight. which is fine, with 12+ hours of travel on the horizon, OUCH.easily the best part of that review is where vedder says how it was a show that he'd want his family and friends to see/feel. Says it all. Great that you went, i bet you are stoked on that decision, and the memory of the ticket scam has all but faded, no?. GOOD.The frat-soprano idiots are funny, if nothing else. People around you will definitely affect any concert-going experience. makes more of a difference than I care to admit, but that's the way it goes. I always try to get some kind of good vibe with my neighbors before, or during, whatever, something.. Really can make things so much more fun if everybody around you is into it.Opening with Unthought Known and Cordoroy is ####### awesome. that had to have the place going bonkers right off the bat, sets the stage in a big way.So on another topic, just getting back from the bar, don't mind if I crack another beer and keep yappin... Tonight was crazy. Had my best friend here get his face smashed in an awful accident. He came stammering to my door at around 8, and I've never seen a bloodier face in person. Ever. It was gnarly. Immediately called 911, grabbed a towel and tried to figure out what to do. i'll tell you about it tomorrow, gott off topic sorryand my anticipation of this next week, there is no chacne I catch a wink tonight. Plus I'm hamered and then some. Gotta go to hospital in the morning anyway, and havent even packed, will just stay up. Don't have a hotel the first two nights, haha, any suggestions? Satyin at JFK. Check it out, turned on vh-1 just now to listen to music as i'm typing and it's Alice in chains, NICE. ROOSTER, LOL. Which, by the way they ####### start screaming here at all hours, stupid juveniles. No joke, I'm hearning them crow as I type this, i ####### hate those things. Staley looks ####ed up in this video, but holy #### can he sing without even trying, amazing. If you didn't see him you'd picture him really straining. But no, nothing hard for him at all. There he is, short pink hair, wtf??, looking depressed. Just sitting there on a bar stool, looking like he has no choice but to be there. the guitar player tonight, out of nowhere, played yellow ledbetter and a couple of other pj songs. ####### great! I know him but he had no idea i was about to see pj this week, anyway, kinda cool I guess. He's actually from NY too. I videoed some of it on my iJoke, but not sure how to post that or whatever. remind me to show it to you.more :mellow:Haven't followed any of this tour whatsoever. didn't even want to look at the setlists and stuff, Mabye because I was hoping to go to Jazz Fest and didn't want to see what i'd missed and stuff. then I happened to be near KC during their show there, but that also fell through. Been doing some driving the last few days, and all I listened to was that show from Boston a few years ago, in the greatwoods meadowlands lol or wherever - got me all fired upso are there any of the fbg thread peoplle going to these shows?

On the way home now. Work tomorrow might get the most useless TU ever, and that's pretty ####### useless. Met Acer, had 12th row had a sick time. Crowd was absurdly good.

Yeah, I was able to say a quick hello to TU and Big Blue Wrecking Crew. Great guys from what I could gather starting with trusting me with their cell numbers. Unfortunately, I could not really hang out since my wife and I were out on a "date"Next time I might be able to stay a bit longer. That bar was crazy. I had never been there. Maybe that is how it usually is. Being straight edge, I dont get into the bar scene too oftenProbably the best Pearl Jam show I have ever seen. Just amazing from top to bottom. Although I will admit that there were a few songs that I am not sure I have ever heard including the opener. Probabaly heard them but didnt listen to the albums they were on too muchAwesome ending the show with Indifference. I have never see anything but Ledbetter. The energy was amazing. My seats could not have been any better. We were behind Gasner 7 rows up. I have never been so close. Probably better seats then TU who was on the floor. Stone is kinda lame isnt he?Where did everyone get these Team Mccready shirts. I picked up a poster, a NYC subway T shirt and a black keys album. I need to go into Otis' thread and tell him they were great.Even if the show is better tonight, I will not feel cheated after what I saw yesterday. Cant wait for the boots to come out

 Acer

Yeah, bar got crazy, quick

Amazing show

Crowd energy was through the roof, band was tighter than a virgin on prom night an everything just came together

Worst part was getting up this AM for work

GB a Friday show tonight

I might sleep until dusk tomorrow
