The little birdie stopped by and proclaimed in a deep bellowing voice,“I am the great and powerful Birdie!”

“WTH?” we said.

“Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain,” declared the Birdie.

One man stands alone?” we said.

“Tweet,” said Birdie before he flew away.

So, be sure your memberships and addresses are up to date by the end of this weekend or you’ll be singing the Scarecrow’s song.
another Eddie solo tour?
:fingerscrossed:Membership up to date :lmao:

btw, gremmie.net is clearly the best PJ site out there. I've always heard of it, but never spent the time to go over there. They have the best versions of every PJ song ever played...available for download or stream online.
I heard that site was out of control.
do you have a standup show I can attend?
I save my good stuff for the non-music werewolf threads.
fixed

There's a lot of truth to that. Sometimes I lament it.

Had an amazing musical week with MMJ

Will chime in with that and how it connects with PJ later, but it really felt like a PJ community and it was awesome
TU, where do I start with these guys? "At Dawn"? Never gotten into them all too much. Looking forward to hear what you have to say.
I'd start with It Still Moves; gives you a good feeling for their varied song stylesAlso has One Big Holiday which is their biggest "hit" and an awesome song

Okonokos is very solid. I like it alot. Is that a fairly standard performance? Lovin' Wordless Chorus, Dondante, and Run Thru to name a few.

PJ station just played the Philly concert I was at. This station is greatWish they would play older concerts though (like 92, 93- saying no in Denhaug (spelling?) and stuff like that)
The played Alone in Den Haag today and the Once demo which I had never heardAnyone hear any Bad Radio songs. I really liked that tape

on hold to ask a question on the call in show
So I originally called in to ask them specifically about touring in the south. They briefly addressed it in the intro by saying they try to get everywhere they haven't been to lately as much as possible and threw out Texas (albeit one festival show) and Florida (a few south florida shows) for example. A few minutes later, while still on hold, the guy comes on and says; "I think they answered your question, do you have another question?"... I replied saying I'd like to dig a little deeper onto specifically touring the south and they put me back on hold. A few callers later, the guy came back on and said the same thing....so I just said I had a question about the Rock Band project. So I asked that, and basically the answer was that it was kind of in limbo as Rock Band figured a few things out. Then I threw in a quick dig at some caller who said "come back to new york more often" :shrug:I'm in a high rise, so I realize I didn't have the best connection....but damn, I talk fast.Anyway, the big news out of this broadcast is that they're planning some sort of 20th anniversary PJ "festival" for next year sometimes. Should be pretty bad ###.

:lmao: I don't know why but this really cracked me up. I also like that you had to take that dig, classic. :D Festival? IN. I actually thought about going to Oz because I got an old college buddy getting married in Sydney at the same time, but the festival thing will get me my fix for sure.

So IN for this, doesn't matter where or when I'm there - Can't wait. Possible locations off the top of my head: Seattle (duh), Chicago, NY... Think those would be the three most likely (?)

What are we talking about when we say festival?

Neil Young, Soundgarden, Black Keys, Ted leo, My Morning Jacket, Brad, Ed Ved, whatever side projects anyone else has, Temple of the Dog

I guess I would be in for that

Hopefully fan club members get a crack at all seats before anyone else (signed someone who signed up a month ago)

Is there a place in Seattle that would accommodate 75,000-100,000 people?

That's awesome
:lmao:
My brain is already turning on whether its better to bring this up to the wife now or after the kids are born (est. March/April)
Wait. Kid with an 's'? Twins or two different mothers?

Tough call but there's about a 100% chance I'll be seeing ya there. You bring the Greek Flag, I'll bring the booze!

This is exactly how people get hurt.

[*]They said "somewhere in the middle of the country". Early speculation is Chicago....but you never know.

[*]I put the word "festival" in quotes b/c they were hesitant to call it that as well. At worst it looks like a 2 day PJ concert celebrating 20 years.

[*]They also didn't rule out a temple of the dog reunion (not necessarily for the "festival" though)

[*]Here's a link to download the show...it's the fan club guys and Kelly Curtis (PJ manager)....I'm the guy who calls in from New Orleans and talks fast - http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2P7YJOCQ

yeah, this show really is awesome for any die hard PJ fan. Other interesting thing mentioned yesterday was that the band can really only go 3 weeks or so on a tour before burning themselves out. Hence no long tours like previous years. They'd rather bring it every night then do any sub par shows.

Insanely awesome news.Although, if it's not a festival type atmosphere with some cool (and maybe awesome) bands, I'm not sure how different a 2 day PJ concert is from what we normally get on every tour (four nights in Philly for example). For them to be talking about this it has to be something bigger...or different....at least as far as what they are trying to plan. I guess "trying" is the key word.

agree...this needs to distinguish itself from a regular 4 day run.

From the PJ website:

Happy PJ20 Ten Club!01.05.112011 will be a yearlong celebration of Pearl Jam’s twenty-year history. The anniversary festivities kick off in a few weeks with the release of Live on Ten Legs.A hint of what more to expect in the months ahead:- A spring reissue of Vs. and Vitalogy in new, deluxe formats;- The release of Cameron Crowe’s film, Pearl Jam Twenty, along with an accompanying book and soundtrack album;- A 20th anniversary destination weekend bash sometime in late summer;- Plus a number of special events and new, unexpected releases!
:shock:Looks like 2011 will be an awesome PJ yearthe "destination weekend" is what I am most excited about

What's the deal with the new prices for the fan club. Not sure I get it
Essentially its a split level membership: $20 or $40The low level is essentially the same as the prior membership was, but instead of hard copies of the Deep mag and an actual record for the holiday single (they'll be a pdf and an mp3 respectively). The high level gets you a hard copy of Deep, an actual record as the holiday single, a T Shirt and a bootleg download of some kindBoth get you access to members only merch and presales

Oh, and FWIW, the big rumor is the "destination weekend" could very well be Labor Day at The Gorge

Apparently DMB always plays there over that weekend, but mysteriously is not booked there this year

Let all the rumors begin!

Wow, for the first time in a LONG time the CSU/CU game is NOT on Labor Day Weekend, so that couldn't work out any better for me. Although I see now that the game coincides (2 weeks later) with the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival, which sucks...

And I hope the Labor Day thing doesn't interfere with any drafts, if there is indeed football.

That would be sick but I sorta hope it's not that far away....lol

Laid the foundation with Mrs. TF for the "destination weekend". Got the best response possible: "We'll just have to see when it is how the babies are doing then.":offtoloaduponbabybooks:

I'm not going to be able to 100% commit until a few months before, but I'll probably buy a southwest flight either way so I won't lose any money if I have to bail. Without speaking for all of them, I'd be willing to bet TU, Zilla, SLBD, possibly Icon are in. I know I've got a handful of brick and mortar friends in as well.

Might have to cancel BostonHole again and pencil this in as my 2nd (of 2) cornhole for the year. Don't tell Ken.
