My wife flat out asked if she should buy me tix for show and plane. I dont want to go alone but if any of you guys are going, I might think strongly about it
I would imagine several FBGs will be thereI know I will beFBGPJ 20th Anniversary Cornhole!
Might have to cancel BostonHole again and pencil this in as my 2nd (of 2) cornhole for the year. Don't tell Ken.
what'd you get banned for?

How's Vroom's work in the Assistant Coach Forum?

Tried to lay some foundation over the past week...guess it could have gone worse...but I was hoping for better. Philly still fresh on the mind...

I'm not going to be able to 100% commit until a few months before, but I'll probably buy a southwest flight either way so I won't lose any money if I have to bail. Without speaking for all of them, I'd be willing to bet TU, Zilla, SLBD, possibly Icon are in. I know I've got a handful of brick and mortar friends in as well.

Just another link. Like the "featuring friends" part.

http://www.torontosun.com/entertainment/mu...wenn-story.html

Rockers Pearl Jam are planning a summer spectacular to mark their 20th anniversary.

The Alive hitmakers are in secret talks to take over a venue in “the middle of America” for a weekend and stage a two-day festival featuring friends.

Manager Kelly Curtis tells Rolling Stone magazine the celebration will tie in with a new Cameron Crowe-directed documentary about the band, and Pearl Jam will headline both nights.

Band member Jeff Ament says, “We’ve played enough festivals that we know what makes them exciting. We want to give people places to go that aren’t necessarily musical - second stages and all that kind of stuff. We’re asking our friends if they want to play a couple of shows with us.”

Horrible writing there

Stefan Lessard (DMB's bass player) has this as his twitter status: "DMB & Pearl Jam or DMB & Phish?"weird
Yeah, let's hope it's Phish...
:link:
Well McCready and Lessard have worked on a side project together, so it's not far fetched. Personally, I'd rather PJ be the only big name at their festival...but I actually like DMB; so it wouldn't be awful.

The assumption of the tweet then must be the PJ Festival will be the weekend of June 10th, the same as Bonaroo.

AFAIK, the Bonaroo lineup has not been announced. But it's the 10-year festival, so Phish is probably in the equation.

What else could he be talking about?

edit: OK, so I guess there are other things floating out there I didn't know about, like Phish @ Watkins Glen July 4th weekend. I suppose the dates don't have to correlate at all, but then why wouldn't DMB just do both festivals if they wanted?

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but didn't have time to read all 96 pages.

What is the best PJ biography? I saw a few on amazon but none were rated very highly, most of the comments say the ultimate bio hasn't come out yet. My wife is a fan and I'd like to get her a bio for V-Day. It doesn't have to be perfect, but what's the best of what's out there?

There aren't any "official" biographys. I think there are a few unofficial ones that are just ok, and probably don't have all the facts right. Here's a few alternatives for you:1. All Encompassing Trip - book that one fan wrote about a few tours that he drove a bunch of random PJ fans around in a van. I got this for xmas, but haven't started reading it yet

2. From a basement in Seattle - poster book from the guy that does a majority of the PJ posters

3. Gremmie.net - probably one of the best PJ fansites there is around. The owners of this site are going year by year and basically just giving all sorts of crazy information about PJ. they've currently released 1990-92. You can download it free in pdf form at the website....one thought is to go to a site like lulu.com and pay to get it bound nicely (or go to your local print shop)

Won't be in time for Valentine's, but the de facto PJ bio will probably be Cameron Crowe's PJ20 documentary and accompanying book. He's been working on it for a few years now - due out later this year for the anniversary. LINK

How strong are these Alpine Valley rumors? Where did they originate?

Not sure I dig it...but then again I've never been there. Sounds like people are booking hotels already last weekend in Aug and Labor Day weekend....and it's not like hotels are a plenty there.

I don't know if they're legit or not, but I've got my room booked

Figure I can cancel it for no charge if they turn out to be false, but they seem pretty solid.

When I called to reserve my room the lady at Alpine wouldn't say anything when I needled her for info but she definitely gave the impression that she knew something was up and that I wouldn't be disappointed. In fact, the first question she asked when I said which weekend I was coming out was "so how many rooms do you want?" - I was like, "huh, what? People are booking rooms in blocks for that weekend? Interestttinnngggg..."

What hotel? Did you do Friday to Monday?I'm a Hilton guy when I travel and the Hampton Elkhorn is booked, but the Hampton Burlington has rooms for $129. My codes aren't working to lower the price, probably because of the locale. There seems to be a Hilton Garden Inn 20 miles away. I'm guessing alot of people would commute back and forth from Milwaukee?Just doesn't sound like the logistics fit here...

I heard it's kind of a dump, but I booked the Alpine Valley Resort right on the concert grounds so we can walk back and forth to the festival and not deal with traffic. Went with Thursday-Monday... They don't have their summer prices figured out yet, so not sure how much it will be.

Sooo what weekend? Alpine Valley In MIchigan?
The rumor is Labor Day weekend. Alpine Valley in Wisconsin.Again though: JUST a rumor.
Just booked a room w/ two queen beds FRI>TUES at the lovely:AmericInn Burlington 2709 BROWNS LAKE DRIVEBurlington, WI 531051.262.534.2125Everything else nearby is sold out. It's only 8 miles from the resort so that's not too bad.

I booked the Hampton Inn Burlington for Labor Day weekend and the weekend before

Scratch that, we don't have rooms reserved for Labor Day, we have them the weekend before so hope that's when it is. If it is indeed on Labor Day, we'll get an RV.

I'm surprised some of you got Labor Day reservations and "we" didn't. There are two guys in our group that nothing gets passed. Both got shut out for LD. Nice work being on top of it.

I'm shut out at the resort, which is why I got a place 8 miles away

I don't know ANYONE who got in at the resort.... hence why I'm about the same distance away. Traffic will likely be pretty crazy in and out. Then again, I'm not opposed to sitting in the parking lot and killing beers till the traffic dies down :lmao:

*I screwed up by not booking at the resort earlier. I was just being lazy. Oh well 8 miles isn't bad. Yeah, I'm sure the tailgate/resort bar scene will be solid.*If I can convince the wife to let me go

I guess I am missing something here. Why the need to be uber close to the venue? It's not a camping locale, AFAIK, it's an amphitheater. Heck, Milwaukee is only 30 mins away. Get up in the AM, stock up on beer and then drive on down to tailgate. What part of this am I missing?

TIA

The two or three post show drives?I'm also intrigued by the RV mention. They really are not THAT expensive if you have 8-10 peeps and are <1000 miles away or so.

I'll take a ride if anyone is passing through the Twin Cities in one.Hopefully I can crash with my friend in Milwaukee for the weekend, but having to drive back after the concert limits the drinking a bit.
