Ed: 14th row a lil off center

Bald headed dude Doubled over a half aisle over from me is jessie misskelley>> apparently the only member of the west memphis three who ed hadn't hung with since the release.... tonight was apparently the reunion

Hangin sidestage with my buddy Rodd Bland (drummers, son of the blues god bobby blue bland) and another acquaintance/buddy Zach meyers of shinedown (sitting in since he's a memphis boy) on lead. We tipped back shots about 15 mins after this for Rodd's bday. This was at club 152 on beale where I was forced to drop in with a print from the show for Rodd (HUGE PJ fan) since he couldn't make the show. Had to slip out after but it was a good night>

Sorta getting bailed on by a friend for Tuesdays show. I'm going regardless. Any regulars in here in the Tampa area interested in 1 ticket? Will head over to the PJ board later tonight if no bites here.

Pretty much blown away by the Dec 4th show. Wish there was more to come...but it is exciting that he said he's back with the boys now.

Sold my extra ticket to this couple that was there from Germany. At first I said I didn't want to give them both of mine and move back a few rows to the other single they had. I don't think they really understood me that they could somebody by their single to move up, but I just gave up on that. After feeling a little bad about it, and seeing the venue layout, it really wasn't a big deal. There wasn't a bad seat in that place and like I said it was only 3 rows back a little further off center than my originals. Closer to the end aisle works for me too (the seating went from side to side with no breaks....strange). The guy that was sitting next to me went to get a beer about 8 songs into Ed's set and never came back, so the legroom ended up being top notch. They were very appreciative and bought me a brew and had some good conversation with them between Glenn and Ed.

The review from the message board below probably sums everything up best. Ed's family was there and his little girls were runners for him at certain points of the show when he needed something. The older girl "lit" the camp fire. Not sure if his kids have done that before but I thought it was pretty cool. As for the crowd overall, I'd say they were very into the show and engaged, with little heckling/shouters. From what I've seen written, this is more of the exception. Ed sorta took care of the idiots at the beginning and added humor during the show. You could have heard a pin drop during Sleepless Nights.

Personally, I was floored by Brain Damage > Sometimes. Brain Damage-Eclipse is my favorite Floyd song(s) of all time, so this was pretty special to me. I almost  . I was also very fortunate to hear Man of the Hour, Needle, Millworker and Santa Cruz...love those four. He played Arc the night before, which was probably #1 on my wish list, so I didn't have high hopes. The Pump Organ song was an awesome replacement, wish I could recall some of the lyrics.

Ed's talk before Corduroy was quite the buildup. I would have never guessed it. I really just can't believe he crushed Corduroy on the acoustic guitar. It was ####### awesome. Maybe he'll never do it again...I don't know...but I hope you guys can track it down or get it live someday yourself. Rockin’ In The Free World was pretty sweet as well. And after Hard Sun, Dream A Little Dream was the perfect way to end the tour.

Also, if you check out Glenn's set below (which was cool stuff) the last song was pretty nuts. Really got people going since Ed was on stage. Not sure if he always tags Smile on or not, but it worked. It doesn't mention it, but they also handed out tall Guinness beers to some of the people in the front row. :banned:

Show Two

Set List

01. Trouble-(Yusuf Islam)

02. Brain Damage-(Waters)

03. Sometimes

(“Welcome to the last night of the tour.” Ed thanks the audience for coming out to see him and Glen. Struggling through all the shouting, Ed says that “usually the second to last show is the best one. You think it is going to be the last but it is usually the last show. However, I do believe that with your assistance we can make this last show the best one.”)

04. Can’t Keep

(Ed says that there are no plans for any more ukulele shows and that everything coming up is all band shows which he assumes will make the crowd happy but, “I am gonna miss playing these songs.”)

(Ed talks about his state of mind when he first started writing on the ukulele. He says that no matter what he did, you can only make the instrument sound so sad. “If I had written these songs on a guitar with a drop D tuning, people would probably be killing themselves.” He started to write songs strictly for himself and giving them to a few friends to let them know he was okay. As Ed began to feel better, he started writing happier songs. “You can really hear the difference between the early songs and the later ones. This song is one of the later ones and I wrote it after I found the right woman.”)

05. Without You

(Ed talks about the writer Michael Laird who once interviewed Eddie while they were sitting on a bridge over 100 feet in the air. Michael passed away but Ed ran into his family. The next song is for him.)

06. Man Of The Hour

(Ed relates a quote from an interview with Roger Waters. “Tragedy is a gift that makes us empathize with others.” He talks about Roskilde and how he wishes we could empathize without going through the tragedy. “This song is about empowerment through tragedy.”

07. I Am Mine

(Ed talks more about Roskilde and how it devastated the band and it gave them the drive to empathize strongly with other people who had experienced tragedy. It cause them to be more concerned with our soldiers and it led to the band being involved with “Wounded Warriors.” http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org The next song relates to what was going on in Seattle in the nineties.

08. Needle and The Damage Done-(Young)

09. Betterman

10. Millworker-(Taylor)

11. Long Nights w/ Glen Hansard

12. ?(Improv)? (appears to be extemporaneous lyrics about nature and change. Runs directly into the next song)

13. Far Behind

(Ed talks about the crew being the family but singles out the long time monitor engineer Karrie Keyes. “She has put up with more nasty stares than my parents ever did. About 18 years ago she gave birth to twin daughters. I like to think my behavior helped prepare her for raising her kids. I want to bring her onstage so you can see what awesome woman who works for a rock band looks like.” Karrie goes onstage. “So, any girls out there, if you want to be in a rock band or work for a rock band, it can be done. This next song is for Karrie and her girls.”)

14. Guaranteed

(Someone in the audience shouts a request for “Jeremy.” Ed sarcastically says “Oh yeah, Jeremy, that would give me a real thrill to play. Yeah, all by myself. You know trying to play that song without the band is like trying to make a smoothie and the only thing you have is sand.” As Ed tries to talk about the next song someone shouts another request. “You know, whenever I hear a person shouting a song like that at me when I am trying to talk about and play a sensitive song, I just want to buy them a drink. In fact, there is a bar about 3 blocks from here so why don’t you go there now and wait for me? We have a lot of songs to get through so let me play them. This song is about a couple that is the flip side of “Betterman.”)

15. Good Woman-(Chan Marshall)

16. Parting Ways

17. Lukin

18. Porch

Encore Break 1

(Ed talks about all of the fans that travel from Central and South America to see shows. He got a request for “Santa Cruz” from someone and tried to figure out where the person was from but Santa Cruz is very popular city name. He ran into the guy again, “It wasn’t from where I was expecting. He was from Bolivia. So this is for Bolivia.”)

19. Santa Cruz

20. Wishlist

21. Pump Organ

(Jill’s youngest sister Ashley just got engaged so Ed plays the next song for them.)

22. Just Breathe

(Ed talks about the charity Heal EB. A person who had donated money for the WM3 is also helping with this charity and requested a song. http://healeb.org Ed notes that he probably hasn’t played this song by himself since he wrote it. He hasn’t practiced it and isn’t sure how it will go. He is just going to try and go back to what it probably sounded like when he wrote it.

23. Corduroy (played on acoustic guitar)

(Ed praises Glen and says, “I have never seen someone sing so well and so consistently while being so completely hung over. I look forward to this part of the set because I know at least three songs are going to be great. I don’t want to introduce Glen for the last time but maybe someday we an get together in some way again. Glen is just a fantastic singer and songwriter and he reminds us that we need new songs to keep us going. Like medicine. So let’s welcome Dr. Glen Hansard.)

24. Society w/ Glen Hansard-(Hannan)

(Ed tells a story about meeting a young man in Dublin in the mid 90’s. The kid had a cool mod jacket. Ed commented on it and the kid gave Ed the jacket. When Glen and Ed finally met, Ed realized the kid that gave him the jacket was Glen’s cousin. The kid lived with Glen and would borrow his records and his clothes. The kid had actually given Ed Glen’s jacket. Ed isn’t going to give it back. Ed tells the audience they want to perform using the theater's natural acoustics and to please be quiet so everyone can hear. The audience is very quiet for the entire song.)

25. Sleepless Nights w/ Glen Hansard-(Bryant, Bryant) [busking-no mics or PA)

26. Falling Slowly w/ Glen Hansard-(Hansard, Irglová)

27. Rockin’ In The Free World-(Young)

Encore Break 2

28. Hard Sun w/ Glen Hansard-(Petersong)

(after the song the entire Eddie Vedder and Glen Hansard crews come out and take a bow. Ed thanks the audience for such a great reception.)

29. Dream A Little Dream-(Gus Kahn, Wilbur Schwandt, Fabian Andree)

Glen Hansard Set List

01. Leave

02. Pennies In The Fountain

03. Love Don’t Leave Me Waiting/Respect-(Redding)

(Glen talks about his first Pearl Jam show and his experience playing and touring with Eddie.)

04. This Gift

05. High Hope

(sung for Ed & Jill’s daughters since they really like the song)

06. Way Back In The Way Back When

07. Song Of Good Hope

08. Astral Weeks-(Van Morrison)/Smile-(Ament, Vedder)

(When “Astral Weeks” starts, the crew turns Glen’s stage into a pub. The monitor tech serves Glen a Guinness and the fog machines used during “Hard Sun” start up. A dart board gets set up along with a chair and table. Eddie sits at the table with Glen’s tech Simon along with Simon’s wife and Pearl Jam/Eddie Vedder production manager Liz and Glen’s manager Howard. They enjoy a Guinness and watch Glen perform. Tom the PA tech and another crew member play darts. During the “Smile” tag, Eddie goes up to the mic and sings a line.)

I really enjoy the new interview segments on PJ radio

Stone with Edward Norton last week and Damien Echols with The Rob this week

I dont like the non PJ music as much. If I put the station on, I want to hear PJ, not Fugazi and I love Fugazi (or Maiden or Springsteen, etc)

That review is comical. It seems to be about everything but the music.
I think you're missing the point...and my wording was flawed. The quoted material not supposed to be a "review" of the music or the show itself. It's taken directly from a thread in their forum, each show has their own. Fans can then talk specifically about a show as they are all rather unique (we're not talking about Tom Petty here). If it was a Pearl Jam show, it would essentially be a track listing. For the Vedder solo shows, which are more intimate by nature, they include segments within the setlist of what he is talking about. Sorry if you knew some of this, and if not, hope it helps. BTW, some nice covers in there ;)

I know it wasn't you and I get why you posted it. I just find that level of extreme obsessiveness a bit...uncomfortable to see. I saw it with Phish back in the day and found it equally weird.

To a regluar Joe fan...of course. But to those who check the PJ forums each night after a show for the setlists and andicdotes, they're very much appreicated.

Best I can find...we will see. Hoping he ends up dominating for Daltry. Not sure how Numb will go.http://hypervocal.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/121212-sandy-benefit-spoilers.jpg
Maybe jersey girl with Bruce. Would have rather seen a set by him over Chris Martin And obviously Kanye

PJ has played "I Got a Feeling" before...that's on McCartney's set....a pretty rare one for him, no? Maybe that's an opp for Eddie also

Didn't realize this is on Paladia HD!

If Bon Jovi makes an app during Bruce set and its not on that list I'm pretty confident eddie will be on somewhere other than one song with waters.

That list had Bon Jovi singing on Jersey Girl, which Bruce only sang the opening verse to

Bruce's set was all wrong from there

I think the order is correct, but I wouldn't trust the setlists

I don't think EV will be doing much beyond the Waters pairing and maybe and end of concert sing-a-long

Hope I am wrong

Just got a bunch of stickers, a patch and a some lithograph thing in the mail yesterday. Did anyone else get this or is it because I renewed.

That's the fan club gift this year, so yes it was sent because you renewed. It was pretty weak, IMO. I mean, it would have been awesomely sweet if I was 17...

I have several thousand songs on my itunes and maybe a couple dozen Pearl Jam songs. Foot steps and Rearview Mirror just came on back to back on shuffle. What are the odds? :headbang:

If any of you guys can find a bootleg from either Kitchener or London (canada not england) from their Canadian tour in 2005... do yourself a favor.

Ive been to a good 30+ PJ shows, and these 2 both rank in my top 5.

What are the thoughts of the new Ten Club ticketing system? I guess there is not a lot to say until we see how it plays out. The one big question I have is how they are going to allocate the tickets. For example, say they have 2000 tickets for a show. 1000 people put it as their first priority. They have 1000 tickets left, and they all go to people with that show as their second priority. Do the first 1000 people get the best 1000 seats, or are all 2000 seats allocated based on everyone's member number? I'd sure like a shot at decent tickets for a show at some point. :kicksrock:

I'll never forget in 2000 they had that system where tickets were allocated strictly based on seniority, and seat assignments were "tiered", again based on seniority, and then it was first come, first served within the tiers. I guess they were trying to avoid the long lines but people still lined up early to be first in their tiers. Anyway, I'm in Nashville and they make us wait outside the main gate until 3PM, and the ticket booth was about 300 yards across the parking lot. The temperature was about 102. The cop lets us go, and it's a sprint to the ticket booth, probably 400 or so idiots running on the asphalt in that insane heat. I ended up first in line and got 6th row directly in front of Mike (my 10C number is 172XXX). Best seats I've ever gotten, but one of the worst shows because of the heat and Ed was sick.I'm pretty sure back then their tours were extensive enough and they didn't yet have so many 10C members that they could accommodate just about everyone for at least one show. I'll wait and see how the new system plays out before commenting. I'm still extremely bitter about getting shut out of PJ20 and a handful of other shows because of their horrible system. I would say that anything would be an improvement, but I know better.

I miss the seniority (133XXX). Got front row dead center for the New Orleans show in 2003. :headbang:ETA: no idea on how the new stuff will work...but I assume it will benefit those who can only go to a few shows. Those who attend entire tour legs will probably get crappy tickets for some and good ones for others.

There are too many members and too few shows per tour for anyone to expect the fan club to hook them up with prime seating for multiple shows in a tour. The last time I was within 10 rows was in 2006, and that was only because I hooked up with someone on the message board with a low number who had an extra. When they started changing the system, I found myself either deep on the floor or along the sides in the lower level. Then on the most recent tours I got completely shut out because of the server crashes. If I can pick 3 shows within a day's drive, not have to deal with hitting <submit> for 2 hours, and have a good chance of scoring seats for one of the three shows, I'll be very happy.
