:banned:
Yeah that guy wasn't far from where we were. He made it up there and put on a pretty good show himself, even timing his jump with Ed and Matt at the end. His shirt said I ♥ Iowa on it.

Setting Forth with the full band was cool. I'm always just happy to hear something I hadn't heard yet, new material notwithstanding. Yellow Moon is no jeans-creamer but I cannot keep it out of my head. So yeah the whole acoustic set was awesome and I was happy to be spared from Just Breathe for once. I was glad the kids got to hear Reign O'er Me.. they dig that one. Turned out it was my gf's fave song of the night as well (she was the only one uncool enough to answer the question).

Waiting For My Man just reminded me how little I get off on the Lou Reed stuff. I would have much rather had Breakerfall and Down, on the original setlist. Walk On The Wild Side tag sounded nothing like Walk On The Wild Side, it was just Eddie chanting "walk on the wild side" over and over, and there were no colored girls. I guess all those things are typical of many Daughter tags.

Lots of people sitting, around us anyway which I'm not used to - a healthy mix of diehards and not-so-diehards - but by all accounts it was a great crowd and by the end of the night it was as loud as the Spectrum. I didn't know they'd never played Baltimore proper before, but they've played Columbia a few times.. close enough.

Odd but awesome set. I held out for Even Flow as long as I could.. finally my bladder won out and I ended up missing Unthought Known and part of RVM. No Jeremy either - sorry kids! Nothing from Binaural, Riot Act or Avocado. And I've still never heard Sad live, one of my personal faves, probably never will!

What do we know about official bootlegs? Are they coming or what?

For those FBers, the "Official PJ 10c members" (not really offical) page is pretty good. A lot of posting, but there's setlist relays, and they're pretty much the first ones to get stuff up onto youtube and stuff.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/10cmembers/
How does it compare to the official one if you've looked at both? I'm pretty sick of all the lame posts, but sometimes there are good one's so I have kept it.

Not sure. just added it

Anyone else going to CLT besides Slapdash and I? Want to meet up before the show? Slapdash suggested Queen City Q. I'm not familiar with what is around the arena.
I would love too, but I am going with my wife and another couple, so I probably can't get away for a beer. Not sure where we are going either before the show, but will keep an eye on this thread and if we happen to be at the same place I might be able to say hi. Anyone have suggestions for a place with a good beer list in downtown (err, uptown) Charlotte?

I actually suggested Queen City Q beforehand because it has a pretty good selection of drafts (particularly NC) for Uptown. Another BBQ joint (City Smoke) has a good list but worse food. Ri-Ra and Dandelion Market are some other solid choices right nearby.

NoDa is of course where you find the best stuff.... :)

Hoping to hit Noda in the afternoon before checking in to the hotel. Thanks for the suggestions.

From everything I'm reading, they are just absolutely on fire right now. Can't wait for Friday.

01. Pendulum-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
02. Release
(Ed sings “Oh dear Lou” in the last verse. Presumably referring to Lou Reed who passed away the previous Sunday)
03. In My Tree
04. Corduroy
05. Go
06. Why Go
07. Lightning Bolt-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
(during the guitar intro Ed says, “Good evening, we’ll talk later. First I have a story to tell you.” starts singing.)

08. Mind Your Manners-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
(Ed says, “I remember exactly when this next song was written. It was right on Virginia Beach thirteen years ago when we were last here. We were really struggling with some things at the time. I also noticed that this is the anniversary of Hurricane Sandy. It is nice to know that after all those tragedy’s that we can find ourselves in this cozy building with you”.)
09. I Am Mine
10. Swallowed Whole-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
11. Faithfull
12. Wishlist
13. Sirens-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
(after the song is over Ed says “thanks a lot” and starts strumming his 12 string acoustic and singing the “a-ah, oh oh” outro. The audience joins in and they sing a couple of rounds of the outro. Not unlike the “Black” outro sing along)
14. Jeremy
15. Grievance
16. Glorified G
17. The Fixer
18. Down
(early in the song Ed sees something he doesn’t like happening. He asks if something is wrong and stops the band. The house lights come up and Ed says, “I think this is going to get sorted out quickly.” After a very brief pause Ed says “That was just a speed bump.” The band starts back into the song).

19. Rearviewmirror

Encore Break 1
(Ed jokes about how cool it would be if the 12 year old in the front had his first sip of wine at a Pearl Jam show. He says we will talk to our accountant and see if we can set up a fund in case the kid ends up at AA. He says “this next song we haven’t played this tour because it is so ####### depressing.” He apologizes to the parents for saying “####” so much in front of the kids. He thanks the audience for taking such good care of each other and that except for that one person it is great that it is safe for the kids to be up front.)

20. The End
21. Thumbing My Way
(this one is about getting out of college or not even getting into college or working a job that isn’t the one you wanted...hopefully when you get out of college their will be jobs to have.)
22. Sleight Of Hand
(Ed starts to play “Future Days” then asks the band if they can change the order. Stone starts playing “Footsteps”.
23. Footsteps
(“That last song is such a beautiful piece of music. You can say that when you didn’t write it. That music is so good and they let me write a song to it. Chris Cornell wrote a song to it and I think Andy Wood wrote a song to it. Let’s thank Jeff and Stone for starting this all off. And can we thank Matt Cameron for playing in two ####### bands? Okay, let’s turn the cameras off and get this over with. Ed goes down and pours something into a cup and says “That is for the Dad, you can do whatever you want with it.” (this refers back to Ed wanting to give some wine to the 12 year old in the front). Ed then laughs and says, that “is Gatorade. No wait, that was the wine...No, it was the Gatorade...well that is what some people call it.” Ed promises to talk about Mike later and introduces Boom.)
24. Future Days-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
25. Mother-(Waters)
26. Given To Fly
27. Whipping
(“This one doesn’t get played a lot. There are more surfers in Virginia than people realize”)
28. Big Wave
29. Sad
30. Porch

Encore Break 2
(Ed mentions a sign he sees about Lou Reed. Jeff plays a line of “Walk On The Wild Side”. Ed says, “Let’s, on the count of three, maybe he can still hear us, say ‘we love you Lou’.” Ed counts off and the audience complies.)
31. Breath
32. State Of Love And Trust
33. Alive
(Ed brings the young man up on the stage. Ed notes they knew every word to every song. Ed says that is great that kids are so into the band because they will at least have an audience of 2 people into their 80’s. Ed notes, “This is the Led Zeppelin arena” Mike starts playing Led Zeppelin riffs. Ed corrects himself, “oh no John Paul Jones arena)
34. Baba O’Riley-(Townshend)
35. Little Wing-(Hendrix)

Definitely gonna post a review of Charlottesville at some point. Almost silly to say it now, but easily best show ever for me. Combination of smaller venue, great seats, setlist, the acoustics in the place and a phenomenal performance. I was in awe the whole time and just tried to take it all in.

Sitting in our hotel in Charlotte now, sore, not much voice left, exhausted yet exhilarated for tonight, drinking Starr Hill beer. Great seats again, front row on Stone's side (Mike's side last night). If it's half the show last night was, my head may explode.

Great show in Charlotte. Last Exit into DTE was fantastic. Severed Hand was great. Getaway is my fav off the new album so seeing it live was awesome. Everyone singing to Betterman was really nice. The Real Me is my favorite Who cover they do so having that played was outstanding. But the last song was the best. I've had Bonnaroo on my iPhone for years and it's a great set but I listen to Watchtower the most. So to hear them end with it was just beautiful. Amazing show and energy. Go see them if you can.

Just paid $300 for two tickets in Los Angeles. Never seen Pearl Jam live even though they've been my favorite band since Ten came out when I was 13.

Energy tonight, was unreal. Only 24 songs and 2 hours, but it literally felt like 3. Pretty sure a top 3 show for me

Pearl Jam
Voodoo Fest
New Orleans, LA
Nov 1, 2013
Set List

(Steve Gleason introduces the band)
01. Sirens-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
02. In My Tree
03. Save You
04. Corduroy
05. Animal
06. Lightning Bolt-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
07. Mind Your Manners-(from the new album “Lightning Bolt”)
(Ed greets the audience and comments on how nice it is to play a festival with perfect weather. He compliments the crowd along the barricade about how well they are behaving. He says to one person, “I really like your energy and your jumping around but could you give your giant back pack to a security guard up front? You are banging into these two women behind you and I can’t take it.” Ed asks the audience if any of them have been arrested before? A pretty good roar comes back. “Wow, really? we are playing for a bunch of criminals. Like in Australia. Me too, I have been arrested. Okay everybody who has been arrested put your hands up. Now how many have been arrested in New Orleans? I’m keeping my hand up.” Ed also gives out most of a phone number of a person who will bail them out. “It is Macklemore’s number and if he can’t afford your entire bail he will give you ten bucks for some Grandpa’s shoes.” He than thanks and compliments Macklemore and Ryan Lewis as brothers from Seattle and dedicates the next song to them.)
08. Given To Fly

12. Severed Hand
13. Daughter/Another Brick In The Wall Part II-(Waters)
14. Jeremy
(Ed thanks Steve Gleason and his family for being good friends and inspirations to the band. He dedicates the next song to them.)
15. Inside Job
16. State Of Love And Trust
17. Rearviewmirror

Encore Break 1
(Ed greets the crowd and says he has some wine left. “We know we are just preparing the stage for Nine Inch Nails and we would like to toast Trent Reznor and his band mates.” Ed also talks about the gulf disaster and The Gulf Restoration Network who are trying to help clean up the oil spill and get people the truth about all the advertising and misinformation a company whom Ed won’t name but he will give out their initials, BP, After tropical storm Karen more tar balls were discovered and it is clear that not is well in the gulf.
“Steve Gleason made up this set list and I was really very excited to sing this one.”)
18. Chloe Dancer/Crown Of Thorns
19. Do The Evolution
(Ed checks with the audience and security to make sure everyone is okay. He spots some people dressed up in furry costumes. He asks if they need any ventilation and then comments, “I read about something like this on a Sonic Youth record. Something about how people can’t get sexually excited unless they are dressed up like that. Is that you? I knew I would never see anything like this until I got to New Orleans. Okay, I am in room 518 at the Hudson Arms or whatever it is. I will bring my teddy bear.”)

Phoenix is in a few days. Where is the cool place (cheap beer) to hang out before the show?

Are the merch lines always long at these shows? I am assuming they take credit cards, correct?

I am hoping for a cool poster. I really like the Dallas one.

Rainy day, good time to catch up on PJ and this thread. Haven't even listened to the album yet; heard only two songs so far. But I have it in hand now, looking forward to it.

Fly into S.D. on Wednesday for my first show since Wrigley. Then it goes like this:

LA

LA

VAN

SEA

KROQ Almost Acoustic Xmas (KoL, Vampire Weekend, QOTSA, AFI, Arctic Monkeys, Cage the Elephant, Group Love, New Politics, Foals)

Anybody going to those?

Jeez, the whole Gleason thing is really moving, but to see the show end like that, that is pretty incredible.

I'm curious about the merchandise thing too. How early do I need to be to pick a poster or tshirt or whatever up?
Some shows have merch set up outside the venue, which is nice. They've been doing a pretty good job lately of having a higher quantity of posters, but if you really want one, go as early as you can. If you're on twitter, just search the day if the show, someone will likely post if there is an outside merch tent. And yea they take credit cards.

Fwiw, they usually sell the posters online eventually

Pearl Jam has been the standard for what I consider an awesome live show experience. I have yet to see a show that rivals it and I have seen Bruce, Clapton, The Dead and tons of small punk rock legends.

But I'm not going to lie. I think I found someone who puts a better show on. My wife and I saw Justin Timberlake last week. WOW. The dude sings, dances and entertains for 3 hours. I have no idea how he doesn't dehydrate but he was incredible. He played 32 songs and I only knew 4.

No slight to PJ, I was just super impressed by JT.

Thanks for posting this. I've been on the fence for a while about getting JT tickets but still have one more shot this Monday for MSG. This coming from a music fan who is strongly in the classic rock and modern country camps when it comes to concert going, so I'd probably know only the same three or four songs without pre-gaming on JT's material, but I had already been leaning towards just get a pair of tickets and enjoy.

My obligatory PJ comment to get back to the thread- really enjoyed PJ20, wish I had seen it somehow before I saw the show in Philly last month.

Just got a text from a buddy saying he's still in Oklahoma City because they wouldn't let him board the plane. Twice. :lmao: We meet up in San Diego if he can get his #### together. SD is going to be all-time. Favorite city to see them play.
