awesome f'n review TU. I really hope i get the chance to see one of his solo shows at some point. :lmao:
:goodposting: Sums it up for me.On the homefront, everytime I get into the car with my 2yr old son....he wants to listen to PJ. As I posted a few months ago, it started out with, as he puts it -- "The Christmas Song", Let Me Sleep. He thinks that is the coolest song in the world. I can't tell you how many times I've listed to that one lately. Since then, we've progressed to the tracks next to Let Me Sleep on Lost Dogs.....Driftin' and Last Kiss (aka "The Oh Where Song"). He will sing Driftin' at the most random times throughout the day ("driftin', driftin', driftin' away"), it's pretty funny. Moving onto Sweet Lew next, he's been diggin' the drums and bass on that beauty when Last Kiss ends and I let it roll. At least I'm doing something right as a first time parent. Now I just need to graduate him from Lost Dogs Disc 2. :lmao:

I was at the NJ show to TU and you were spot on....nothing I can really add to it. I will say my brother called me late last week and said he is getting a boot from NYC1.....he said it's supposed to be a pretty good copy. Funny, I was at four of first 5 shows and this is one I wasn't at.....anyway, still waiting for him to report back about it. If it's good I'll let you guy know.....

Stumbled across some great footage of early PJ at the 1991 Sounds of Seattle Concert

OK, what in the (($)#*$&@#*&@ is with that psycho right in front of the camera man wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt and a pony tail through the back of a blue hat that has the CONSTANT twitching going on???????? It absolutely ruins these videos. :)

Ok, I've been meaning to add a quick review of the Milwaukee show all week, but haven't had time. First of all, nothing beats seeing Eddie in a small venue. Riverside Theater is a very cool place, and I'm going to try to see some other shows there if possible. Anyways, Eddie puts so much energy into a show it's just crazy.

I also want to add how cool Liam Finn is in concert. Just amazingly talented. He uses looping in

I'm sure by now many of you have heard how bad the crowd was in Milwaukee. It is true there were a few drunks that felt the need to constantly shout while EV was trying to tell a story, but I still loved every minute of the show. They tried, but could not ruin the show for me or my brother. What did upset me was how visibly upset EV was that people kept on yelling after he asked numerous times for them to stop. Other than that, EV was magic.

First get into the Riverside and it's beautiful. Only 2,500 velvet seats and it just had a cozy feel to it. We were up in the balcony, but there wasn't a bad seat in the house. We both enjoyed the Liam Finn show, but it certainly had it's strange moments. Some of those noises he makes are horrible at first, but then he some how finds a way to loop them and mix them into a pretty cool song. He played for about 45 minutes.

Then about a half hour later Toulumne came on and the lights dimmed. Just got goosebumps. The curtain rises and EV comes out and sits on his chair and starts in on Sometimes which I've always loved. He uses some sort of board on the floor to give him a drum effect. Pretty sweet intro song I thought.

Then I don't remember the exact order of events, but after a few songs it gets quiet as Ed is switching instruments and then someone yells out Lukin. He says to get it out now because he won't put up with that #### all night (sadly he ended up having to). Then he basically says that when someone starts yelling at him he tends to do the exact opposite and says he's going to play a slow song. Then he says, Ok I'll play it later, but that's the only request. Then he dedicates the next song to the guy "in name only" and starts playing "Deadman." Just hilarious.

After that, people just kept yelling in between songs. They were shouting out requests and things like "where's your wife" or "go Cubbies." He said that he was captain of the ship and he would make them walk the plank if they didn't settle down. It's unfortunate that most of his banter was to try to shut up the hecklers.

After man of the hour they changed the backdrop and he said they were leaving Milwaukee and going into the wild. Once in a while he'd make comments about man those songs are so short and got into a story about how the mandolin has a napolean complex and how they almost had to scap the tour because it. He's just an entertaining performer.

The setlist was amazing (see below):

Intro Music:Toulumne

MAIN SET:Sometimes, Trouble, Girl From The North Country, I Am Mine, Deadman, Man Of The Hour, Setting Forth, No Ceiling, Guaranteed, Far Behind, Small Town, Millworker, Soon Forget, Broken-Hearted, GONE!!, Rise, Driftin', Hide Your Love Away, PORCH

1ST ENCORE: Here's To The State, Blackbird, Forever Young, Won't Back Down, Wishlist, Society w/Liam, Throw Your Arms Around Me, No More, ARC

2ND ENCORE:Hard Sun w/Liam and EJ

My two highlights were Throw Your Arms Around Me and Arc. The way he could harmonize with the looped sound was incredible. I have more to add, but that's it for now. Overall, just an unbelievable show and if he ever does another tour like this, I'm going to as many shows as I can. Too bad I don't think he'll come to Milwaukee again.

Great story!!!!!!My oldest son went through a similar stage when he was about 4. All he wanted to listen to was Light Years and Faithful. He has moved on a bit since then (he is 8 now) but those 2 are still right up there as his favorites.

I've heard that too from a few of mine. And if you've been trolling some of the PJ boards.....I know the pee guy from Chi night 1 very well, very good friend of mine actually. He's a good dude and there's more to the story than what you'd read there.

Sorry just saw this now. To sum it up in short.....he said it was blown out of proportion to an extent. While he did piss in a cup which was then knocked over at some point, the assclowns that narc'd on him were jerks about everything. I told him he's the ######## for pissing in a cup in the first place, that's what bathroom are for (funny that we actually argued about this in DC earlier this summer, I said no way do I do that, now it comes back to bite him). He felt so bad about everything the next day that he did NOT even go to Chicago night 2. I was shocked by this, he's been to way more shows than me and most of all of us. I still wonder if they told him not to try to come back for night 2, but he has never said that, and my other buddies that were with him said he was really depressed about how it all happened and very embarrased (he WAS smashed at the time, obviously). But still, how many of us would have not gone? I know I would have went, in disguise of course. :wall: Hopefully he doesn't lose his membership, he's got a nice 5-digit number I think.

for those who are interested, the Camden 1 poster is up for sale in the goods section. I know some of us had a hard time getting it that night.

From the PJ site:

At the request of Ernie Banks, Eddie threw together a song for the Cubs ("All the Way"). He got a pretty good live version of it at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago this August. It's now being played on Chicago radio and at the Bleacher Bars around Wrigleyville. We have decided to make the song available for download - you can get it here. There's a chance we'll also make available some hard copy CDs and we're looking into souvenir 45 singles, as well. Check back here for the latest.

Go, Cubs, go!

And, from Stoney:

Beginning today, new music from Stone will be available as streaming live music videos along with downloadable audio tracks at http://www.pearljam.com/stonegossard , a newly launched site that will be an ongoing resource for Stone's music and special projects. The initial release will include Stone's debut tune Your Flames (studio track) with one live music video and a corresponding live audio track. Check back September 24th and October 1st for additional, exclusive live video and audio tracks

Been awhile since anything's been posted here, but this seems newsworthy:

PEARL JAM ANNOUNCES THE REISSUE OF BAND’S DEBUT ALBUM, TEN:

FOUR SPECIAL EDITION PACKAGES IN STORES MARCH 24, 2009

TEN CLUB PRE-SALE OF SUPER DELUXE BOX SET BEGINS NOW

Album extras include:

Remaster of original Ten album + remix by producer Brendan O’Brien •

DVD of previously unreleased 1992 Pearl Jam MTV Unplugged performance with 5.1 surround sound audio remix • LP of the band’s 1992 “Drop in the Park” concert • Replica of Pearl Jam three-song demo cassette with Eddie Vedder’s original vocal dubs • Recreation of Eddie Vedder composition notebook • Never before seen memorabilia • Bonus tracks and more.

Ten, the debut album that sold 12 million copies and introduced the world to Pearl Jam in 1991, will be reissued in four (4) new and expanded editions. Pre-orders of the Super Deluxe Edition begin today, through the Ten Club at PearlJam.com. All four editions will be available for purchase on March 24, 2009. The reissue of Ten serves as the launch of a planned two-year catalogue re-release campaign leading up to the band’s 20th anniversary in 2011.

Each Ten package will include two versions of the album: the remastered version of the original album PLUS an accompanying remixed version done by the band’s long-time producer, Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, AC/DC, Audioslave). Details on specific extras for each of the four packages are listed below.

“The band loved the original mix of Ten, but were also interested in what it would sound like if I were to deconstruct and remix it,” says producer Brendan O’Brien. “The original Ten sound is what millions of people bought, dug and loved, so I was initially hesitant to mess around with that. After years of persistent nudging from the band, I was able to wrap my head around the idea of offering it as a companion piece to the original – giving a fresh take on it, a more direct sound.”

TEN RE-DESIGN

Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, who served as the art director for the original Ten packaging, reprised his role for the reissues collaborating with designer, Andy Fischer, of Cameron Crowe’s Vinyl Films (Into the Wild soundtrack LP, Vanilla Sky soundtrack LP, Harold and Maude anniversary edition soundtrack LP).

"The goal was to assemble the ultimate fan-piece,” explains Fischer. “Something Pearl Jam lovers could pore over as they experience an indelible record all over again, in an entirely new way."

“The original concept was about really being together as a group and entering into the world of music as a true band...a sort of all-for-one deal,” says Jeff Ament. “There were some elements of the original Ten artwork that didn't turn out the way we had hoped, due to time constraints. With this reissue, we’ve been able to take our time and invest resources into making the design the way we had originally intended.”

REPLICA OF PEARL JAM 3-SONG DEMO CASSETTE IN SUPER DELUXE EDITION

In the process of digging through his archives for this project, Ament came across an old cassette marked “Momma-Son” – the fabled original Pearl Jam demo tape featuring the first recorded versions of “Alive,” “Once” and “Footsteps.” Ament and guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready had recorded instrumental tracks of these songs to help solicit a singer for their newly formed band. Mutual friend - and then Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer - Jack Irons suggested they send the tape down to San Diego surfer and little-known singer Eddie Vedder.

Completely inspired by what he heard from these musicians that he then only knew by name, Vedder quickly wrote lyrics, put these vocals to the music tracks and shipped the tape back to Seattle. Upon hearing how Vedder had transformed the songs, Ament, Gossard and McCready asked him to come up to Seattle so they could meet and have an official “tryout” together. Shortly thereafter, Pearl Jam was born. (A replica of the “Momma-Son” cassette will be included in the Super Deluxe Edition of Ten.)

Jeff Ament describes the experience of re-visiting that tape with singer Eddie Vedder:

“I think the first time that Ed or I had opened any of those boxes was a few weeks ago. I knew that the original ‘Momma-Son’ cassette was somewhere, but I hadn’t listened to it in 17, 18, 19 years. It was cool to sit down and play it for the first time with Ed and see his reaction. And to find that 90% of it stayed exactly the same as what ended up on the record. A lot of elements were identical. There was some energy flying around at that point even from 1,300 miles away from Seattle to San Diego.”

very cool :lmao:

Curious to what 2000 Mile Blues is.

Odd they don't mention whether Rockin in the Free World will be on the unplugged DVD. Best version of RITFW ever, IMO.

Stumbled across some great footage of early PJ at the 1991 Sounds of Seattle Concert

This was Dave Abbruzzese's first show

Great sound and video quality, show is in it's entirety

Very cool to see

I've got this on VHS somewhere in my closet from way back in the day (used to trade tapes back when I ran the "Ramblings" Fanzine). Gotta dig it up and convert to digital someday.

Also, tenclub.net is waaaaay better, they've made some much needed improvements to the overall look and feel of the site

I think 09 will be a great PJ year!

I've got it and it's in cherry condition... was played 2x. They were never sealed.
what do you want for it?....S
I doubt I could part with it. Any sort of reasonable sum would just make me miss it. Kinda like my other fave PJ piece... the guitar pick Eddie used to play Rearview Mirror (one of my faves) in Aug.2000 (The Pyramid, Memphis)... one of those things I'll likely always have tucked away in a corner somewhere.

Jeff and Mike have funny hats but Stone looks absolutely hilarious. I love seeing these old videos

Hey dudes - Anyone know if there's any way to somehow get, or even "buy" higher seniority in the Ten Club? I was a member for years and then forgot to renew one year and thought "'eff it, I just lost my seniority. I'm screwed" and never renewed. That was 6 or 7 years ago.

Anyway, just wondering if anyone knows anything. Is the Ten Club even based on seniority still? Or is it more randomized now? Thinking I'm going to have to sign back up for '09.
