***OFFICIAL Philadelphia Phillies 2009 Thread*** (1 Viewer)

This is about the opposite of last year. Don't think many experts are going to be picking us to win it this year. We got alot of problems right now. It's a shame because homefield was ripe for the taking. 2nd best record will be ok tho, considering the way the dodgers are playing. Also a shame because the offense played so well this season, we could easily be a 100 plus win team. Still a better season than most defending champions have put up in recent history.

Can't wait for the playoffs to start. Hoping for anyone but the Cards.

Could the scheduled game times be any worse?

Wed, Oct 7 - 2:37 PM

Thu, Oct 8 - 2:37 PM

Sat, Oct 10 - 9:37 PM

Shouldn't it be the opposite?

The first two games will be on before noon on a weekday for people in Colorado.

Then on Saturday when it could have been a day game in CO, they make it a night game starting at 9:37pm in Philly.

Sure I'll sneak out of work or stay up late to watch but my kids probably won't catch a single inning of these.

Hopefully many more games for us and eventually at times a little better.

Don't get me wrong, still just glad to be in it again! :(

They need to get maximum exposure for New York and Boston.

Absolute BS..... you think the Defending World Champs would get 1 day of respect.

Time to take out the big-market teams now. And I know what the largest one-team market in baseball is - in theory - but somehow we rate behind Atlanta, Boston, and St. Louis, at the minimum.

just remember that ant....
I hope the ant helps us to get a meaningful game 4 in the WS -- -you know in case you have tix  look at me
Good for you. But I hate how people just go to NLCS or World Series Games. I don't have these connections!
Back in '93, I bought a single seat from a ticket agency day of game. Wasn't too expensive. Much pricier now, I bet. If you really want to go, check out that route.Unfortunately, we're not playing a small market team, so away games arn't an option. Last year, I know someone who went on the cheap - by flying to Tampa & getting a car & hotel room. If you save up airline/hotel points this isn't so rough.

The Phillies are the first team to make the playoffs since Pat Gillick left as a GM.

Gillick left Toronto as GM in 1994 and they haven't made the playoffs since.

Left the Orioles in 1998 and they haven't made the playoffs since.

Left the Mariners in 2003 and they haven't made the playoffs since.

Um I went to around 15 games this year not including playoffs :lmao: I've been going to regular season games since I was 7 not sure why you think I only go to playoffs.

Yeah also though in 93 the stadium sat like 67000 compared to now :lmao: I got tickets cheap in 93 also for each home game. Luckily I'm only paying face value for these too but my god tickest are outrageous.

Way to go Phils, thank you for another great season! I think the Daily News said it best, "depressed but proud".

Offseason priorities: bench, bench, and then get some help for the bench. Could use some BP help as well. Our rotation looks ok with Lee, Hamels, Blanton and Happ. Have to think about a fifth starter. Does Pedro return and what do we do with Jamie? Buy out of his final year? We don't need major pieces just a few tweeks and we should be able to make another run.

110 days until pitchers and catchers report!!

 Tough loss but you can't be upset. Gave us something to cheer for again!!!

Great run fellas, just didn't have the magic back for the series from last year but it was a fun ride.

Looking forward to 2010, should be another fun one.

Will need to watch out for the other NY team that will be healthy, possibly reloading, and coming back with a vengence.

 (Can I use that for baseball?... guess you can catch my drift here)

Phils will have to make decisions on Feliz, Pedro, and Moyer.. other than that, I think the starters return intact..

Need serious bench help, and maybe someone else for the end of the pen if Lidge is flaky again.. I'd be surprised if Stairs or Dobbs are back... will probably keep Francisco..

Trade Bruntlett for a bucket of batting practice balls, and we are ready to roll in 2010!

Great year! Especially considering the dismal record of defending champions the next year. Takes alot of heart and resilience to do what they did this year.

Dobbs is signed for 2010 (1.35M)I can't imagine them not picking up Feliz's option. It's not like there's much out there. Figgins (no thanks) and Beltre (a more costly Feliz).

Phillies exercised 2010 option for LEE :scared: was a given but is now official
