***Official President Joe Biden Thread*** BEST EVER! (1 Viewer)

The fact that you get your information from facebook groups explains so much.

except when you go to that group you'll find those people are living in south Texas, on the ground, I have some friends in it .... they're showing, talking, telling it like it is

on my buddy's ranch, the daily trespassing, left over trash, constant worrying does not stop - every single day

its on a ranch in south Texas so people don't care - if you had dozens of people coming through your back yard every night, sleeping, cooking, leaving trash, trafficking people, drugs .... you'd be ok with that?

Again, I think we can build a wall and still let the world know we are the land of opportunity and you are welcome here.  Just do it right.   These two do not have to cancel each other out.

almost every place in the USA has walls / barriers    look around next time you drive down the highway

houses have privacy fences, businesses have barriers, compounds and chain link fencing ... gates and fencing, concrete walls, .... some places have security entrancing

all to keep people who's not supposed to be there out

Again, I'm not remotely interested in "symbolism" that means nothing to me.  If that's important to you, fine. And that's where we won't agree.  I'm more interested in the logical arguments against the wall.  Saying it "looks bad" isn't logical to me.   However that's your position and I accept it.  I just think it's weak.
:goodposting:

I agree, it doesn't hurt at all to have one and our country continues to be open to immigration just asking that you follow the rules in place.

And just to play on your Israel reference.  They are surrounded by people and countries that are avowed to destroy them and or kill them.  And it hasn't happened yet..so maybe the wall is working????  Maybe there IS value to it?
Israel was surrounded by those same people and countries for over 50 years before that wall was put up, and they survived and were arguably safer before.
But again not relevant to our situation.

So you are saying they are less safe with the wall?
Israel? I would say so yes. They put the wall up to stop or slow down  individual acts of terrorism, suicide bombers, etc. That goal has been largely achieved.

But it has also slowed down on nearly shut down the flow of Palestinian migrants who previously came to Israel looking for jobs, giving them economic sustenance and causing money and trade to flow back the other way into Gaza and the West Bank. Now those Palestinian communities are shut off, with no economy to sustain them, radicalized, a ticking time bomb and ultimately more dangerous to Israel than they were before.

Actually I’ve changed my mind- there ARE a few worthy parallels here. If you guys ever succeed at building a wall all across our southern border  (doubtful but possible) it will radicalize Mexico and several other countries to our south. It will stifle trade and create all sorts of human misery. And it will be viewed by most of the world as an act of racism and paranoia. What a terrible message it would send.

All because of the wall.    So you are saying ,if I got you right, tearing down the wall would make everything better.

You far left liberals and your open border rhetoric are terrifying....Wow.   I mean I of course knew youd say yes..but its good to get it in print so people can see just how horrible and massively dangerous this kind of thinking can be,.

Here is a far left argument for open borders:

Oh wait! It’s Forbes magazine!! When did socialism take over the reins there? I had no idea.
Sigh..See this is what's so disheartening.  You try so hard to not be influenced by the media and try try try try to come off as intelligent and yet you do things like this which just really shows you are so awfully manipulated by your media you have lost any and all capability of thinking for yourself.  Just regurtitate what you have read without so much as an ounce of effort to think on your own. Its so sad, SO SAD..Especially from a guy who carries the arrogance you carry.  It makes me think about those out there who aren't even trying to gather info and how much worse it must be.

So couple points....And it's mind boggingly shocking I have to say this to you...But alas, here we are

1) Just cause it is published in a media outlet does NOT automatically make it liberal, or conservative etc.  With that 3rd grade logic, we might as well say anytime FOX News has a liberal opinion, they can no longer be called conservative.

2) Far left and socialist are not the same thing.

God this can really make me wonder if we have a chance of ever getting out from under the media influence. It's so horrible.

My point, which I was trying to make with a little humor, was that the argument for what you call “open borders” is actually not far left at all, but libertarian and pro-capitalism. Trust me, Forbes magazine is not going to offer a leftist position.

Obviously the humor was lost on you. But my point still stands. And you should refrain from using terms like “far left” to describe my position when you really don’t understand it. HTH.

Wait. You mean the opinion piece you quoted written by a self described liberal?  Forbes won't publish that?

It makes me so sad..so very very sad how easily people are manipulated.

It really isn’t. Closing the borders would tank the economy, particularly in Texas and Arizona, and the tremendous loss of jobs would mean more drug users not less.
So crack pipes were never going to be given out ? Or did they reverse direction after the outcry?

How about this

The “smarter” wall: How drones, sensors, and AI are patrolling the border.

There is another kind of border wall increasingly being talked about — one that proponents pitch as being less costly, less disruptive, and less politically controversial than a physical barrier: a so-called “smart wall.”

The vision, as laid out by its bipartisan political supporters, is to build an ocean-to-ocean technological barrier made up of a patchwork of tools like drones and sensors to help surveil and identify unauthorized individuals crossing the border, specifically in remote stretches of land between established ports of entry.

Yes...probably a better idea to look into things like this vs. physical barriers.

Never thought I would see someone actually come out and say Israel would be safer if they didn't have walls.  That's a new one man.   And that's what is just so dangerous and frightening.  Hopefully those people don't get too much power in this country because if they do,  our safety will be seriously degraded.,

Although I am in favor of increasing our amount of immigration in general, I’m not opposed to this sort of idea.

I may be missing something, but how does having photographs, heat maps, etc. of people crossing the border stop people from crossing the border?   Seems like it just gives us better documentation of those who crossed.

This can’t be beat by a ladder. That’s an improvement.

Not in my back yard.  Literally.

I wouldn’t know

My wages haven’t increased $275 a month since Joe took over though I can tell you that
I’m down 20% already after taking a huge hit last year.  I can’t do it anymore.  There is no end to this.  Our government only cares about the fringe  and people who can’t vote.

Easiest vote many will make in their lifetime. Landslide

I think it's patently obvious that you have no idea what "landslide" means.  You repeating propaganda doesn't make it true.  You know that, right?  Right?

I get why you do it - you have to.  The truth must simply be too hard for you to bear.

We are a product of our experiences.   When I see posts like yours about inflation I think about the jobs in our area.   We were looking at employees with more choices and power, and a lot of the lower paying jobs when up a good $2-3+/hour in the last couple years as stores were in competition for employees.   $275/month is a lot of money, but this is what comes to mind when I see people talk about the increase in living without any context of wages.   I also know several people who saved a bit because their companies realized they can remote work.     The downside, is I would guess most of us making FBG money might not have seen as big of a jump in wages.

Inflation is mainly due to demand exceeding supply.

How much of  it is Joe Biden's fault?

It doesn't matter.  He is president and it is his job to fix it.   He needs to work with the Fed and congress to get things back under control and the supply chains flowing again.

Personally I don't think he's up to the task but time will tell

Transportation Secretary appears to be a complete failure at keeping the supply chain open.  That is assuredly on the Biden Administration.

Me and Don share a certain flair with language. Landslide

The question was something like feeling guilty for voting for Joe. Not in the least. As I said the easiest voting decision for Prez I have had in my lifetime.
