Agree about the whole Stephanie/HHH thing.  Shane is one thing, but why does Stephanie feel the need to headline herself into any PPV match?  She doesn't pull it off well at all.  Just a waste of 20 minutes, the whole thing.  Kurt looks like every step he takes is painful, why the need for him and HHH to fight?  Who really wants to see that match?

And holy crap, Rousey is a lousy actress.  Lousy Rousey should be her ring name.  Baddest woman on the planet?   :lmao:   That turnip has been out of juice for years.  That "throw through the table" was pitiful.  And HHH standing there letting Rousey grab his throat so Stephanie can get in position was just sad.  I bet he cringes at production meetings.  Like he's going to sell getting choke slammed by R. Rousey.

On the other hand, Alexa Bliss is still the greatest.
This is where I give HHH a lot of credit. The dude has gained the willingness to job for others since his days as a full timer. Dude deserves all the credit because we all know how he was back in the day. I have a lot of hope for professional wrestling once Vince gives him more control. Just look at NXT.

The only thing I can say in support of Rousey is...at least they aren't going to put her over current roster talent. This mixed tag need to turn into a cluster as fast as possible because the match will be trash. I assume it will build around a few choice photo ops and go home as quick as possible.
Agree with this.

I honestly don't know what you do with Rousey long term. She should be doing the Shayna Baszler shtick down in NXT, dominate heel outsider without actually holding any belt. But the WWE machine no doubt wants her to be a face. In a perfect world, Rousey turns on Angle, and as punishment Angle sends Rousey down to NXT. She works on her skills, teams/feuds with Baszler and works her way back up. But HHH would not want NXT to seem inferior and you need Rousey on free TV.

I think some of it is that now he's not one of the boys, he can see the need to put people over to further the story. Plus, I'm guessing he's grown up a lot to. When he's not in character, he comes off well spoken. I do believe he respects the business enough to want to make it better.

Be nicer if they put her in something a little sexier. Her ring attire is horrific.

I also don't get why they are so content with her blatantly rip off Pipers gimmick. I get it, alliteration whatever. It looks terrible and lazy on the creative team's part. I guess this is no surprise though coming from a team that relies on 40 and 50 year old part time washed up wrestlers to carry their company.

Rousey openly idolized Piper before coming to the WWE. She even asked him if she could go by Rowdy and he agreed. It was probably her choice to use it when she came over. His family did give her his jacket to wear that first night.

It’s a crutch too, she’s probably a year away from being ready. If you wait another year she becomes more irrelevant.

If you’re an old school fan and you see her wearing Piper’s outfit, you’ll get a nostalgia buzz.

It’s a weird situation because you don’t bring Rousey in to sell. She was crushing chicks in 30 seconds in UFC. She’s gonna run through everyone but Asuka just did that. It’s an Ultimate Warrior / Goldberg type push.

I thought part of the "reward" for winning the Royal Rumble was Main Eventing Wrestlemania.
Zero chance they go on last (Reigns v. Lesnar), or even next to last(Levesques v. Angle/Rousey), or next to next to last(DB/Shane v. KO/Zayn). At that point, if I am Styles and Nakamura, I want that first match spot, steal the show and let the rest of the card try and top them.

Agree there's no endgame with Cena-Taker. I think the best way to do it is not having him appear til Mania (but most likely to get at least the sign of him appearing at Mania this Monday in whatever form). That's probably the only intrigue at all with it (when he'll appear and in what form). I can't see why anyone would want to see the actual match or result. Not to mention Taker's coming off hip replacement (and he looked completely done last year). It was sad to watch really.
Shocked the WWE actually had it in them to hold him off til Mania.

Given his in ring performances the past couple years and coming off hip surgery, he doesn't even need to be having a match. The best part of him these days is his entrance, Which is longer in itself than several of the matches will be.

Boiiii 205 Live was awesome last night. Was in my seat convincing folks to stay after the MMC and feel a little vindicated for doing so.

Agreed, I just can't listen to them call her the baddest woman on the planet and not think about her getting the #### kicked out of her in her last two matches :lmao:

I still think one of these main matches won’t happen. I am wondering if Braun get “jumped” backstage and the match is cancelled only to have him come back on RAW the next night with his partner to keep the storyline going.

I mean if the AJ match is anywhere near what we expect, whatever goes on next will be ....crickets. I am guessing it will be one of the Battle Royales.

Then you have the pop from Daniel coming back plus if the Braun’s match actually happens, this will absolutely drain the crowd. Btw—-did anyone do a second look during Braun’s RAW match when he came out with the glasses and think it was Bubba Ray Dudley?

Back on topic-you would expect, the HHH match needs to be close to the end so they can continue the Rousey push.

Which leaves Cena/Taker and Reigns/Brock. I can’t see Taker coming back to not close the show but there is zero continuing storyline there-I mean both guys will probably not even be on RAW/SD the next week. Which means I have a feeling the show ends with Roman’s arm in the air and people left with a bad taste in their mouth again.

godspeed luscious johnny V, I knew him as a manager and commentator and he wasn't very good per se, but I'll damn I always had a soft spot for him and he was pretty memorable.

He would have shone a little brighter on commentary if he wasn't a contemporary of Heenan, who is either the 1 or the 1A of color commentators of all time

I think given the smark crowd you have to headline with AJ-Nakamura.  After 7 hours that will be the only thing that pops them, but of course you can easily see Vince wanting to see Roman standing tall.  Was listening to the John and Wai Post Wrestling podcast (which I highly rec btw) and John had the idea to put Roman Brock first if you want to get Roman over as a face.  I think the unexpected nature of that could be really interesting and leave the rest of the card unpredicatable.

Part of me thinks, Steph won't resist the chance to be the first woman to headline wrestlemania though.

Battle royals and the crusier match have to be pre show fodder I think

I love The Dream Team. Valentine & Beefcake.

Lesnar all but confirmed to sign with UFC. Mania is expected to be his last match.

I know they made money with it, and Brock only works with who he wants to work with, but if they gave Roman the Goldberg push and squash to send him off this year, Roman would be over huge

My first real "mark" moment as a young kid was when Johnny V stuck the lit cigar in Barry Windham's eye and the Dream Team took the tag belts in the Spectrum in Philly.  Back then, the house show results were still reported in the sports section of the paper.  My jaw dropped when I read that they won, and then I saw the replay on PRISM and my jaw dropped again.

There's no way VKM goes AJ-Nakamura to finish. Reigns is his Ride or Die and that cork-munching son-of-a-birch will end the night with the streamers falling, fireworks going off...and boos for miles. With the kicker that Dana White has effectively spoiled the main event, VKM could have a bunch of empty seats for RR. :lmao:

If you take every male wrestler from the RAW and Smackdown brands, substract those with injuries and those competing in other matches, you only have 62 total male wrestlers left. Will be interesting who they scrap from the bottom of the barrel to be in the Battle Royal. Guess you could bring NXT guys over as well.

All I really feel strongly about for NXT is that Adam Cole should win both his matches, Aleister Black needs to look like a total badass, and Gargano-Ciampa goes on last.

Cody should beat Kenny imo.

I felt like when Paul E mentioned UFC on Monday night and also said if RR beats Lesnar that he and Lesnar will never appear on Raw again he essentially spoiled the winner.  But then I was like, "It can't be that obvious, can it?"

Cena is jobbing to Taker if it happens.
Oh you know it, but what is the point? The fans gave Taker a great-respectful sendoff when he left his gear in the ring. That should have been the final chapter for him. Coming back cheapens this IMO especially just to “go out” on a win with no foreseeable storyline or end-game.

NXT Takeover New Orleans
NXT Tag Team Championship: Undisputed Era (c) v Roderick Strong & Pete Dunne v Authors of Pain - I think AOP shows up on RAW Monday night. Pete Dunne only has one mouth to hold a belt. You leave the belts on Undisputed Era to set up (spoiler) Adam Cole holding two titles.

NXT Women's Championship: Ember Moon (c) v Shayna Baszler - I love Moon, I'm out on her finisher. Baszler makes her tap to even out the Face/Heel wins. Moon chases the title. Baszler destroys all comers until SummerSlam.

NXT North American Championship (Ladder Match): Adam Cole v Velveteen Dream v Killian Dain v Lars Sullivan v Ricochet v EC3 - Anyone outside of Sullivan/Dain could/should win this match. EC3 will look strong early, Ricochet will hit some huge high spots, Dream will be the sneaky MVP of the match, but Adam Cole Bay-Bay will pull out win and walk out with two belts.

Unsanctioned Grudge Match: Johnny Gargano v Tommaso Ciampa - You need Gargano in NXT. I think he needs a run with both singles belts and a big feud alongside his wife, so he pulls this out in the match of the night.

NXT Championship: Andrade 'Cien' Almas (c) v Aleister Black - Rooting for Black to win here. I think he can be the Face dominate champ for most of the rest of the year, baring a Gargano run with the belt. His mic skills are better than expected, his entrance is still one of the best, and his segments in a suit just seem important. Andrade I move up to the main roster.

Which match goes on last?Gargano v. Ciampa - You end with Gargano and Candice in the ring having their WM moment; 2nd choice would be the ladder match with an exhausted Cole holding up both belts.

This should be an excellent weekend of wrestling. That said, last weekend had the Will Ospreay-Marty Scurll match, and I doubt anything tops that, seriously check that out if you haven't is the leader in the clubhouse for 2018 match of the year in my opinion. I find my level of interest this weekend goes: Supercard>Takeover>Mania, but I'm sure to watch and hopefully enjoy all 3.

As for predictions/hopes, I'll start with Supercard:

Finally an ROH women's title. I'm picking Mayu Iwatani, but its totally possible they put the title on Tenille just because more people likely know who she is. Hopefully they meet in the finals, if you have never seen Mayu, she is great and one of the five best women's wrestlers in the world.

I'm fully expecting Ibushi to crush Hangman. Should be a fun match though, both these guys are willing to go 100 MPH at all times.

Punishment Martinez is like best case scenario Baron Corbin, but I can't see him beating the Stone Pitbull.

I think the Bucks and Flip take the 6-man titles back. Frankly the build on Being the Elite with Flip trying so hard, for so long to be accepted deserves a payoff here.

I'll pick  Lethal-Tanahashi in a somewhat surprise upset of the Briscoes. I think if just for shock value. I'm a little surprised the Motor City Machine Guns aren't on the card, maybe I missed an injury?

Kenny King vs. Silas Young might be the match I care least about on the card. Just not interested in either guy. I'll pick Kenny King I guess. Same with Chuckie T vs. John Gresham. I'll pick Chuck, but meh.

I'll pick the Villain to pull of a bit of an upset and beat Dalton Castle. Castle is my sleeper pick for entrance of the weekend by the way. I think Scurll winning the ROH title could really make all the overarching Bullet Club stories that much more interesting.

I'll take Kenny over Cody. This is probably the match I'm most looking forward to this weekend. Omega main event matches have been universally great for almost 2 years. He's the best wrestler on the planet right now.

NXT Takeover:

This is probably going to be the best show of the weekend, its possible every match is 4 stars or better.

I'm assuming Adam Cole is  pulling double duty, and if he is, I'd be very shocked if he won twice, especially as a heel. With that in mind, I'll pick him and O'Reilly to retain the tag titles. AOP feels ready for a call up after Mania, and Dunne/Strong isn't really a team.

While I'm totally rooting for Cole to win the North American Title as well, I'll pick Ricochet. I think giving him a title in his first match would be quite the introduction.

In my 2nd most anticipated match of the weekend, I like Gargano over Ciampa. I think this feud is too big for just a one off. I think it continues maybe all summer. For that to happen Gargano needs to win this round. I could see maybe Gargano wins, but has to be stretchered out of the building.

I like the build with Shayna/Ember, but Ember Moon should retain. She deserves a much longer title reign. If I had to book it, I'd say somewhat similar to the first match, but Ember wins more clearly. Either by her finish, or if you really wanted a big reaction, by submission, perhaps after a Baszler mishap causing an injury.

I think Almas retains over Black. Almas needs the title more, and Black's undefeated streak has to end sometime. Even though Almas is the champion, he feels a bit like the underdog. Maybe Black has the match won a few times, but for whatever reason(Vega distraction, knocked out ref, foot on the rope, etc.) the match doesn't end and Almas eventually pulls out a win, cheap perhaps. I think this goes on last.

Wrestlemania:

Good lord this is a long show. I'll probably be nodding off toward the end so hopefully for my sake the matches I care about come first. I'm a little disappointed that Cena-Undertaker doesn't seem to be happening. I don't recall them ever feuding before, so the novelty would be there, also the rare match I think where even kids, might be rooting against Cena. Oh well. Probably for the best as Taker hasn't really had a good match in about 5 years.

I'm a sucker for Battle Royals so I'm interested in both of them. The women's one especially, since it could actually advance a storyline. I'm going with Bayley winning, by eliminating Sasha last. That's the money feud people have been waiting on. Frankly, I think Alexa should have lost to one of them at the Elimination Chamber, since their feud is way better and more title worthy than Alexa/Nia but we'll get there. I'll throw a sleeper pick for the Andre...Goldust. Nobody has really gotten anything from winning this, so why not use it as a career achievement award of sorts.

I think Cedric Alexander was going to beat Enzo for the title before all that stuff happened, so I'll stick with him getting the win. Honestly though, I'm still not feeling the CW division at all.

I think Mania opens with the return of Daniel Bryan to Mania. That said, this feud has basically killed Smackdown(mostly Shane's fault as he's been awful) so I'm more into just seeing Bryan than actually caring about this match(which feels weird as I'm a huge Zayn fan) I'll go with Sami/KO winning, by beating Shane. I don't think there will a swerve here.

While it will obviously never happen, I kinda want Alexa to be Braun's partner. She doesn't have to compete, just be out there while Braun wins the tag titles by himself. This is another match, i'm not really interested in. I can't believe this is Braun's Mania match after the year he had. I'm Braun/mystery partner. Let's say Matt Hardy, just for some potential future story potential.

While they always have solid stuff together, I'm not really into the Smackdown tag title match. I'm kinda sick of New Day and the Bludgies do nothing for me. That said, I think they'll change up the title scene, so I'll pick Harper/Rowan to win.

This US title feud is also something I'm not into. The alignments are all wrong. Roode and Orton should be heels, and Rusev should be a face. I feel like Rusev was added to this match so the crowd wouldn't play with beachballs during this match. I'll pick Roode since he's guy who is enhanced the most by having a title. Anyone but Jinder would be fine though.

The IC title match is yet another match I don't really like, I'd have preferred Miz/Rollins and Balor to do something else. My guess is Miz is probably losing and taking some time off since he just became a dad, so I'll pick Rollins to join the list of guys who have won every title.

Much like the Smackdown authority figure match, I'm not really into the Raw version other than the novelty of it being Rousey's 1st match. Like that match, I'll go against the grain, and pick HHH-Steph to win by HHH beating Angle. This is also where I could see a swerve happening as Rousey joins up with the Authority and turns on Angle. Rousey rubs a lot of people the wrong way, and I think they'd be right to capitalize on that as she has natural heel tendencies, and it would give her someone to talk for her.

Alexa/Nia is a tough one. Like i said earlier, i hate that this is a title match, because the story says Nia should win, but man she is not very good at anything other than looking unique. I'll pick Alexa to retain, simply because she's the better character/wrestler. Maybe Alexa dodges Nia outside the ring, and Nia goes through the barricade or into the post or something and Alexa wins by countout.

The match I am most looking forward to at Mania is Charlotte vs. Asuka. I think Asuka should absolutely win this, by submission no less. I hope this gets 15-20 minutes. Could Charlotte's flipping cutter be turned into a chicken wing? I think that'd be a neat finish if I were booking it. Carmella should 100% not cash in here, and if she does, she should lose in probably under 30 seconds. Can she cash in on the Raw women's title? That would make more sense to me, though I'd probably prefer she lost that too.

Styles/Nakamura had a great match at Wrestle Kingdom in 2016, and in theory, this could be better, as they were both pretty banged up heading into that one. Is it just me or has Nakamura kinda been heeling it up a bit as of late? I think that should continue, and Nakamura should win possibly through ruthlessness, and cheating a bit. I think this is a feud that likely extends beyond Mania, so for that to make the most sense, Nakamura has to win.

Lesnar/Reigns is basically meaningless to me. We already saw it, we already know who is winning, and the story build has been retched. Boos and beachballs are my prediction for this one. If I were booking, I wouldn't drag it out. Have it be a fast hard hitting bomb fest for 6-7 minutes. No trading control, no slow build, just bombs left and right. Kinda like Lesnar/Goldberg last year. I'd personally pull a swerve here(can Rollins somehow cash in the IC title to join this match?) and have Lesnar win. Maybe have Cena get involved in some way here? Then have Lesnar lose the title on Raw. How many Mania's in a row do you want the lasting shot to be overwhelming boos.

Super card of Honor 2018

The ladies will jerk the curtain with the semi-finals of the women’s title tournament. The finals will be held during the PPV.
The two semi-final matches to crown the inaugural Women of Honor champion takes place on the pre-show.

Mayu Iwatani vs. The Gate Keeper Kelly Klein - RoH depended on Stardom to help fill out the 16-woman bracket and Mayu is the only one to make it to the final four in New Orleans. She's held five different titles in Stardom and is an all-world talent. Klein has been given the Goldberg/Asaka undefeated-like push, with the exception of one controversial count-out loss. She has not been pinned or submitted and relies on a guillotine choke. I have the feeling that this is the true championship. Stardom has their premiere star in the semi-finals must've been the price for helping fill out the bracket. RoH sends a lot of talent to Japan to compete there and get more exposure and work than they normally get in the States. Having said that, Klein is a tremendous talent and despite wrestling as a heel gets a lot of pops. GUESS: Kelly Klein

Sumie Sakai vs. Tenille Dashwood (FKA Emma) - If this were WWE, I'd say straight away that Sakai would go over here to give you the heel v. face matchup in the final. But, the fact that Tenille was announced as the 16th and final contestant to some small fanfare is not to be ignored. To snatch her up from WWE and give her the push they have is not to be overlooked. Her "all about me" gimmick does work and gets heat from it. Sakai is 46 and an old-school legend in RoH. She's been filling the Chris Jericho role of putting over other women for much of the last few years. At this stage of her career, IMO she does the job to sell Dashwood as the future. GUESS: Tenille Dashwood.

FINAL: Given that they've been selling Klein as the unstoppable threat and general badass, I find it hard to believe that she won't go over here. You could have a good Dashwood-Klein feud to start the history of the belt. GUESS: Kelly Klein is the first Women of Honor champion.

Maybe have Cena get involved in some way here? Then have Lesnar lose the title on Raw. How many Mania's in a row do you want the lasting shot to be overwhelming boos.
Given the "reveal" of Dana White :loco: , and possibly avoid the boo-fest that comes when RR wins, I'd make Lesnar-Reigns next to last. Asuka pins Flair for the Women's Title, and at the end of the evening when Nakamura pins Styles for the WWE title, Asuka comes back out and celebrates the top two singles belts being held by Japanese wrestlers and it's a throwback to WM X8 (?) when Benoit and Eddie Guererro celebrated winning titles together.

Preshow
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal - 19 guys confirmed. I'm going to guess the winner to be whoever number 20 is. Not a lot to care about in this group. It pains me that this is where Ziggler ends up on WM. I miss the days of AJ and Big E hanging out with him.

WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal - More interest than the Andre. The story should be Bailey turning on Sasha. I think the win goes to Dana Brooke. She deserves a bit of a push.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship Tournament Finals: Cedric Alexander v Mustafa Ali - Alexander all day here. Ali has gotten some coverage as the "cop turned wrestler", but Cedric has to be the most over guy in 205 right now.

Main Card
Elias claims he is giving his performance of a lifetime at WrestleMania. Someone is bound to interrupt him... who? - This is where the Rock shows up, no doubt about it. He's got a movie coming out, it's Wrestlemania, Elias is the perfect guy for him to insult. Little dueling guitars, a "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS", Rock Bottom and it's done. Rock gets a huge pop, Elias gets even more over.

Will Kid Rock perform? - Yep. See below.

WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) v The New Day v The Bludgeon Brothers - You end the New Day/Usos feud with both of them looking up at the new champs, Wyatt Family 2.0

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship: The Bar (c) v Braun Strowman and ? Strowman goes over here. He will get a top 5 pop on entering the building. Rumor is that Sheamus is hurt bad, like Edge injury bad. Probably needs time away at the very least.

Who is Braun Strowman's partner? - A repackaged Bray Wyatt makes some sense. Johnny Gargano or Aleister Black if either lose on Saturday would be awesome.

Win and You're Rehired: Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon v Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn - the easy way out would be Bryan getting all of his S**t in, but Owens/Zayn going over with a pin on Shane. The fun way would be Bryan and Shane getting the win and El Generico and Kevin Steen showing up a few week later, or Zayn and Owens just showing up on RAW.

Mixed Tag Team Match: Rowdy Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle v Stephanie McMahon & Triple H - Steph eats an armbar here for submission. We need as little ring action as possible for this one. Angle doesn't need to be wrestling, and HHH needs someone better than him at this point (ala Seth Rollins). Rousey is the real question mark on her in-ring ability and she has the worst possible opponent to help her in this match. I hope Rousey is only on TV and then at the Performance Center the rest of the week for the next six months min.

WWE United States Championship: Randy Orton (c) v Bobby Roode v Jinder Mahal v Rusev - I care so little for this match. Roode probably needs the belt the most, lets go with him pinning Mahal. I'm tired even typing at this point.

My predictions:

Strowman fights by himself and wins the tag team titles. Hilarity ensues over the next few weeks with him holding both belts

Reigns wins- duh. Im actually looking forward to this one. I think they are doing a great job with Reigns lately.

Asuka beats Charlotte- I think WWE wants to keep her undefeated for a long time maybe even until Rousey becomes experienced. Does this mean Asuka moves to Smackdown?

Rousey/Angle win in a snoozefest

AJ beats Shinsuke in a classic

Cena eats popcorn in the crowd all night. Undertaker never shows up.

Vacationing in London so time is all screwed up. I think I might try to wake up about 4AM to catch the last few matches live (I assume the show will run until midnight EST) and then watch the rest on the plane.

Will Finn don the Demon paint? No doubt about it. As much as I think Styles/Nakamura starts the main show, I could see the very first thing will be the Demon entrance.

WWE Smackdown Women's Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) v Asuka - Hope this gets 25-30 mins. Hope they go really snug, strong style. I honestly don't have a favorite, will be happy with either winning.

WWE Raw Women's Championship: Alexa Bliss (c) v Nia Jax - As long as Alexa dominates, wins and has a wardrobe malfunction, my day will be made

Will Carmella cash in her Money in the Bank contract in either match? Who does she pin? - Yes she does. She will lose to the winner of Flair/Asuka

What arena snacks will John Cena be shown enjoying during his time as a WrestleMania fan? - Popcorn

Will the Undertaker and John Cena have a match this year? Which version of Undertaker are we getting? - Yes. Kid Rock will play American Bada$$ and we will get BikerTaker. And he will pin Cena in his last match.

WWE Heavyweight Championship: AJ Styles (c) v Shinsuke Nakamura - Will be match of the night, no matter where it shows up. Tons of false finishes, tons of stiff shots, someone will almost die, and Styles will win. Show of respect at the end.

WWE Universal Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) v Roman Reigns - This match needs to go no more than 10 min. Any more than that, and the already hostile crowd will turn even more. Power move after power move, suplex after suplex after Superman punch after Spear, Roman wins, gets the belt, Lesnar goes away and Paul takes six months off.

Who will make a surprise appearance that you haven't already mentioned? - Your Mom, Jeff Hardy following Matt Hardy to the ring as Brother Nero, two NXT performers
Which match goes on last? - Cena/BikerTaker
