Hall Of Fame ceremony was on tonight. Tuned in to watch Mick Foley. It wasn't wonderful. Then Trump was on next and I changed the channel. Hate McMahon's infatuation with "cross-over" celebrities.

And then there was Virgil...lonely Virgil in the corner. I don't know what happened to him, nice guy, thought he was teaching in Pittsburgh, but now I see he's showing up in random places selling autographs for $5. Depressing.
Go to Deadspin and search for Virgil stories. There are some weird fan encounters with the dude.

Who isn't in the wrestling hall of fame?
Travesty that they are not: Demolition

Thoughts?
Not before Sting, Lugar, Warrior, Savage, and tons of other guys. They were two low-level guys thrown together in a Road Warrior rip-off tag team who were only together for a few years. Were they good? Yes. But there are a ton of better "THIS IS A TRAVESTY!" guys before we get to Demolition.

Whats everyones thoughts on Goldberg (when he was around anyways)?

Wasn't a great wrestler (despite his "record"), but the crowds sure loved him.

I think he was way over-hyped. I believe a LOT of the "goldberg" chants were actually piped into the arena. I couldnt stand him, but i generally dislike that genre of wrestler... the Lex Lugar, Ted Arcidi, Warrior, Ryback-types. Guys that are physical specimens but ringwork is very limited and suck doing promos.

Warrior was the promo GOD.

Randy Savage
That's really stupid
Everyone knows he belongs in the HOF, so obviously there was some issue(s) between Savage and McMahon that prevented it. There were rumors about Savage and Stephanie a while ago which may have been the cause. Whatever it is, since Savage died, I don't see how anything is going to change from here on out with regards to his chances of making it in.

I've been reading this book on the history of the NWA. It is interesting how wrestling evolved from a local enterprise to the cartel that spanned many states. It is a bit tedious as the author discusses each of the main players. Many times he just ends up re-telling the same story but from a different person's perspective. I've just now reached the part where he goes through the history of champions.

One side note - Vinnie Mac is actually the 3rd generation McMahon to be a promoter. His grandfather used to promote fights in NYC at the original MSG back in the 20s.

Smart to have Ryback do his promo in front of a teleprompter instead of in the ring. I wonder how many takes that took.

What about Chico Santana & his flying burrito?

/Brain
Will you be serious?

/Gorilla
Hey I'm just saying that when Santana got thrown out of the ring and landed near us, I instinctively ordered two taco platters and two margaritas

/Brain

Will you please stop

/Gorilla

What? I ordered one of the platters for you. But I'm keeping both the margaritas

/Brain
Heenan was so great at commentary. I really wanted more from him when he was at WCW, but apparently Tony Schiavone is really hard to work with.

Can anyone recomnend a website where exchanges like the above might be listed? Like a fan site of best announcer quotes?
