For finishing moves I always liked Stone Cold's stunner, especially when it is sold correctly. Mr. Perfect was great at selling moves like that.

But this one is pretty cool: link

Canadian destroyer Petey Williams. Like a power slam pile driver.
I only saw this once, I'm assuming it was outlawed pretty quickly or something.

ouch.
Would be easy to mess that one up - probably a broken neck waiting to happen.

He used a modified version semi-regularly. Still looks devestating, but he doesn't toss his opponent before dropping him like that.

I always felt that young Scott Steiner had the potential to be one of the best in-ring workers ever when you considered his strength, amateur wrestling background, and his innovative moves. Then he got so roided that he couldn't move, and he always sucked on the mic. Oh, well. Still I would have loved to have seen a 1992 Scott Steiner vs. a 2001 Kurt Angle.

Don't know if this was posted already but the story of Connor the Crusher: http://youtu.be/FjQT0hGE5kM

Devastatingly sad but also some really awesome moments.
RIP to an awesome little guy. Loved when he was so stern about not telling Bryan to take it easy on Batista right to his face "no I'm not gonna do that". I remember believing that sternly, and he would not be conned by the heel in that spot.

And I was :lmao: and  when he hooked HHH's leg.

They obviously had a lot of history with the kid - Kane and Daniel Bryan were tag champs at the beginning of the video.

WWE really does great stuff with the Make-a-Wish foundation.
An honestly, this is what irks me so much about how fans treat John Cena. Look, he is what he is. He is the face of a lot of these interactions between kids like this and the WWE. It's not about John Cena as a person, or even as a wrestler. What his character represents to all these kids is above the WWE and all these dirtballs that trash Cena and what he represents. Every time he gets heat, I just picture all these sick kids crying in the front row. Fair, or not, it is what it is.

Cena has granted more wishes than any other athlete according to the Foundation. That was really tough to watch.

Cena has talked time and again that he has no problem being "booed".

Just getting around to listening to the SCSA podcast.

####ing brilliant. :tebow:

The best part has to be the way Austin does the commercials....Never knew he was this funny, might have to move him up above Rock on my list of best mic skills of all time.

WWE released a list of the 50 Greatest Talkers in Wrestling History last week.

The WWE.com site is annoying because you have to load a new page for each talker, but it's good in that each talker gets a paragraph as to why they were awesome on the mic. So here's the WWE.com link, and below is the list.

Obviously a dubious start with Scott Steiner who is far more deserving to be on a worst talker ever list.

50. Scott Steiner

49. Joel Gertner

48. Jimmy Valiant

47. Zeb Colter

46. New Jack

45. The Grand Wizard of Wrestling

44. Brian Pillman

43. JBL

42. Thunderbolt Patterson

41. The Miz

40. Kevin Sullivan

39. William Regal

38. Tazz

37. Stephanie McMahon

36. Ernie Ladd

34. Bray Wyatt

33. Rick Rude

32. Gary Hart

31. Ultimate Warrior

30. Michael P.S. Hayes

29. Nick Bockwinkel

28. Raven

27. Jesse Ventura

26. Jerry Lawler

25. The Million Dollar Man

24. Terry Funk

23. Shawn Michaels

22. Harley Race

21. Edge

20. Captain Lou Albano

19. Triple H

18. Macho Man Randy Savage

17. Jim Cornette

16. CM Punk

15. Arn Anderson

14. Superstar Billy Graham

13. Mr. McMahon

12. John Cena

11. Jake Roberts

10. Chris Jericho

9. Hulk Hogan

8. Bobby The Brain Heenan

7. Mick Foley

6. Paul Heyman

5. Dusty Rhodes

4. Stone Cold Steve Austin

3. Roddy Piper

2. The Rock

1. Ric Flair
Too high: Foley, Ultimate Warrior, Hogan

Too low: Punk, Jericho, Jim Cornette

About right: The top 4. In the 80s Flair was in a league of his own on the mic.

Don't remember Jake Roberts being that great on the mic.
Pretty solid list. The only major injustice I see is AA. Definitely top 5 over Piper for me.

Just an unbelievable story teller.

1. SCSAustin

2. Rock

3. Flair

4. Dusty

5. Arn Anderson

Has anyone found any of the good Flair-Steamboat matches on the Network? The search index comes up with no hits for "Ricky Steamboat" and I didn't see listed any of the old WCW/NWA shows that I knew they wrestled at (I might be wrong on that though)...

Chi-Town Rumble, Clash of the Champions VI, WrestleWar '89, and Spring Stampede '94 are on the network. In that order, chronologically. The feud got pushed to the side when Hogan came on the scene mid-1994.

I couldn't find it online but seek out roddy pipers final regular run pipers pit before he "retired" wrestlemania 3. A very different piper and a side you didn't necessarily see from wrestlers at that time. One off favorite promos ever. A wonderful coda to his time as a full timer

The first three are all 5-star matches. I wanna say I like the one from the Clash the best, but it's a very tough call. The match from Spring Stampede was good too. They also had some other good matches together, but they aren't on the network.

I think some of Piper's best moments came before he was in the WWF. He was also a great color commentator along-side Gordon Solie. I think he may have been the first heel commentator. For some reason, TBS didn't like the duo, so Piper's commentary role was short-lived.

Love a good title tourney. Man, Bryan's had some bad luck since Mania and this Kane feud was not doing him any good.

It sucks with this news on D Bryan, but perhaps they can go back to the underdog/beat all odds gimmick when he returns.

Rumors floating around that they are working on a replacement for Batista in Evolution since he's supposed to be leaving soon. 2 names being floated are Sheamus ( ) and....Dolph Ziggler ( :excited: ).

Perfect reason to split the titles and keep one on Bryan. Instant money Mach down the line.

I location tourney too but as I get older I appreciate how hard it is to book a good one night one if you don't want to repeat spots and sequences.

Survivor series 98 is my favorite attitude era ppv for that title tourney

He can do the swagger but I'm sorry he's like putting Paul Roma In the horsemen. I'd rather an Alberto del rio. He at least was booked as a credible champion for a long run and can do the playboy gimmick. Ziggler looks like a ####### idiot with his attire. I drove by the extreme rules ppv and I there was a good amount of his t shirts. It's like an electric teal and it says the show off or something.

Everyone can't be stone cold but that getup looked a little NTTAWWT to me

Yes, I think the World Title is the old WCW world championship. The WWE belt is their original title. I thought Vince wanted to dump the WCW belt at some point but maybe someone talked him out of it for nostalgia sake or something. One they use for Smackdown the other for RAW.. or they used to anyway.

The WCW title is way cooler looking than the WWE version.
They should go back to the winged eagle WWE belt. But the current one is a slight improvement over the stupid spinner belt Cena had to have.

As someone who just came back to watching wrestling...2 belts is stupid. It's just confusing, especially when they don't explain it.

RANDY SAVAGE and JAKE ROBERTS tell the story of the infamous 'Snake bite' angle:

ROBERTS:

"The Cobra was a lot lighter than the other snakes I used to have to carry around. It only weighed about 15 pounds...and it got a lot more respect! (laughs) I loved that damned thing. Oh, I loved him...

Savage came up to me before and said [Macho Man voice],'Your Cobra's gonna bite me - Ok, you got that? But here's the ####-enn problem, yeah...there's a lot of people around here that'd like to TAKE the Macho Man OUT - you know what I'm sayin'? And you might be one of them...'

I said, 'What are you talking about?'

He said, 'I want to ####-enn know...if the thing's got the ####-enn' gimmicks out...'

'Randy, it's not poisonous...'

'Uh huh! Good - you say so...'

'Yeah.'

'Then you don't miiind, if it bites you FIRST...'

He takes me in the locker room, I sit there, put it up to my leg, right? It chews on my leg. Then, it released.

He says, 'O-k...just sit down right there, snakeman, right there, yeah...don't move...'

Thirty minutes later, [jumps in close] 'How you doing, Snakeman-? That botherin' ya..?'

'Randy, please...'

SAVAGE:

The snake was supposed to be devenomized. But when the cobra bit me, oh my god... (laughs) It wouldn't let go..."

WATCH: http://youtu.be/OQr1tRpogIo

ROBERTS:

"I'm trying [to pull it off] - I'm trying! And the snake's just gnawing on his arm...it's going on for like a minute now, you know? Over a minute, damn...

Finally - whew - I got him off.

There's something about any animal that's chewing on your arm...it kinda bothers you..." (laughs)

SAVAGE:

"My arm blew up like a balloon for days. About five days later they had to rush me to the hospital with a 104-degree fever...

It's unbelievable to walk into the hospital and tell the doctor I had a snake bite.

Finally the fever went down, they gave me antibiotics, and luckily the snake WAS devenomized; but twelve days later the snake died.

He was devenomized...but maybe I wasn't! (laughs) Jake told me: 'You killed my snake dude...'

Our feud generated a lot of interest after that angle even though they couldn't show it on national TV. It was too graphic. They could only show it with a big X over the screen..."

Just getting back into Wrestling....specifically WWE Monday Night Raw. Couple things:

That roster seems a bit shallow doesn't it? It seems like the only Main Eventers are The Wyatts(Brey), The Shield, Daniel Bryan and Evolution. After that....there seems to be a HUGE dropoff in entertainment talent.

If this is a rebuilding season for this WWE roster....they really need to bring in some managers get some of these guys over. Axell, Ryback, the Russian...even Shamus....these guys just aren't good talkers. Of course, I stopped watching in the Golden Age of Jericho, Austin, The Rock, HHH, Shawn Michaels, Foley etc. etc....so its hard to find that kind of talent. Even lesser guys like Steven Reagal were more entertaining than most of this current roster.

They're going to have to break The Shield up. Ambrose and Reigns have good entertaniment skills. Rollins?....not so much but he's a decent mid carder.

They need Vince back. By far, the greatest pure entertainment character WWF has produced. VInce mugging a few segments could go a long way into hiding some of the shows defeciencies.

I remember two x moments - the snake bite and Terry Funk "branding" Ric Flair. There was also Earthquake squashing the snake, but they cut away from that entirely.

I think it only feels that way because they have them in groups. Try this exercise...let's say the WWE had a big tournament (or battle royal) for the right to headline SummerSlam. How many wrestlers could win it? I count 10 for sure, and that leaves out Rollins and Ambrose (Dean is actually my favorite Shield member).

- Bryan

- HHH

- Batista

- Cena

- Orton

- Lesnar

- Cesaro

- Reigns

- Wyatt

- Seamus

Next tier:

- Ambrose

- Seth Rollins

- Bad News Barrett

- Rusev

- Big E

- Kane

I'll bet that when all is said and done Rollins will have had the best career out of The Shield guys. Sure the WWE will push Reigns because he's big and looks good, but Rollins is easily the best actual wrestler of the three and truly great ring skills like Rollins possesses can lead to a great career even for a smaller guy (Bryan, Punk, HBK...)

I've also heard non-kayfabe interviews with The Shield guys. Rollins comes across as the most mature and exceptionally dedicated. Vince likes guys like that who he can rely on.

Rollins could be pushed like a Jeff Hardy if they scripted it right. Dude is great in the ring.

Yeah but isn't Lesnar (and I'm assuming) Batista part timers?

I don't doubt their physical talent. They're great at what they do in those regards. I'm more of a guy who watches to be entertained by the banter and spectacle. To that, I don't see many guys who have those bigger than life personnas.

Vince likes guy who make him money, first and foremost, and whichever guy from the Shield becomes the best draw will be the guy who gets pushed the most over the long haul.

What's the history with 2 belts? Why are there 2 belts? Was this a legacy WCW thing?

One they use for Smackdown the other for RAW.. or they used to anyway.
I never liked the split rosters between Raw and Smackdown. It didn't make any sense - they were all under the same company at that point. Why create an artificial division like that? And the division was based on which night they showed up on TV? And those guys could only show up on that designated show? It just limited the talent.

Also, that WWE belt is just goofy looking. I get they want to put their brand on everything, but that giant logo is tacky on a belt - particularly in comparison to the previous belts (including the WCW one).
