*** official "scary talented" Titans @ Chiefs WC game thread. Go Titans!!!!11!! (1 Viewer)

RULE 12, SECTION 2, ARTICLE 8 - INITIATING CONTACT WITH THE CROWN OF THE HELMET.  It is a foul if a runner or tackler initiates forcible contact by delivering a blow with the top/crown of his helmet against an opponent when both players are clearly outside the tackle box (an area extending from tackle to tackle and from three yards beyond the line of scrimmage to the offensive team’s end line).

This rule applies whether the player is a "runner" or not.
Then they should call it every single time a RB is met head on and lowers his head. Right?

Things that trigger me:

- That I don't have a CFB team to follow closely, and there's way too many teams, because that product is 1000x better

- That it takes Kelce practically dying on the field for the Chiefs to get the ball to Demarcus Robinson, who should easily be their #2 WR and getting a healthy dose of targets per game

Yea Andy Reid\Alex Smith not big on spreading the ball around.

Meanwhile during the concussion protocol:

"Ok, Kelce, how you feeling?"

"Potato."

"He's good to go coach."

It's almost like you didn't even read the rule. The rule clearly says "outside the tackle box" (and the vast majority of RB head-lowering takes place inside the tackle box). Also, the rule says "initiates forcible contact", which would disqualify situations where the RB lowered his head solely to avoid being tackled.

Man, I really need to rethink all of your posts in the Political Subforum.

I read it. And plenty of RBs are met by a DB outside the tackle box and lower their heads and "initiate forcible contact" trying to run through them causing helmet to helmet collisions. It's never called

:oldunsure: HOME game, yeah that's what I meant. :bag:

In all honesty I didn't expect the Titans to win this, but I had hope.

Mularkey fired at halftime.
That's the hope!

not sure, but I think that the focus for OZ was more on having the chiefs lose today.
Focus? Dream, hope...

He just hit Decker in the chest. -8.5 is not looking ridiculous right now.
Mariota has super bowl ability. But he needs some freaking receivers.

There is NO WAY the Chiefs keep Smith unless they make the Super Bowl. For three BIG reasons:

1) They absolutely love Mahomes and believe his upside is much higher

2) They have nearly no cap space, and trading Smith gives them $18m in space

3) His trade value should be pretty darn high -- SO many QB-needy teams and he's coming off a great year (even as an admitted Smith hater)
I can see that happening.

Its just not inconceivable to me that they keep Smith.

I"ve only seen a fast track concussion protocol once- Matt Moore last year was knocked senseless and yet was back on the field in a matter of minutes. Kelse has to be done, he was way too wobbly.

You must have missed Russel Wilson's drive-thru protocol clearance earlier this year.

It's a wonder Jeff Tripplett, universally recognized as the worst referee in football, continues to get awarded playoff games year after year.  Yet another way the NFL gives a big "F you!" to it's fans.
