Koscielny out for France with heel tendinitis, iffy for Arsenal's next game.
And Chambers is a out on a yellow accumulation too, isn't he?
yes - 7 games, 5 starts, 5 yellows
If Kos is out do they play Monreal at CB? And some kid rated a 61 on FIFA, Bellerin, in at RB. Could be ugly.
The saving grace is that they're playing Hull City, not Chelsea, so they can still win that playing Bellerin and Monreal, but that's not even half ideal.

I think it's time for Arsene to role out that 1-8-1 formation you know he wants to play.

RB might be the last position I want to start a scrub against Hull. Andrew Robertson is having a great season at LB and he can really get forward on the overlap. Once there, he crosses exquisitely (If I were LVG, I might cry when I consider that Man U paid something like 25 million more for Luke Shaw).

UEFA Introducing Changes To Champions League Seeding; Top Seeds Go To Title Winners Only

A statement from UEFA reads: “The club competitions committee will recommend to the UEFA Executive Committee a change to the seeding structure for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, with the UEFA Champions League title holder to be top seeded and the domestic champions of the seven top-ranked countries in the UEFA country co-efficient to be the other seven Pot 1 seeds.”
I'm sure this is corrupt somehow, but I haven't figured it out yet.

I think this is to deal with the random ManCity situation - good team, but hasn't been good long enough. (Spurs actually had a higher coefficient than City entering this season)

Still going to end up with some messy match-ups when good teams in pot 2 get drawn against good champions from pot 1.

So the Pot 1 seeds this year would have been:

Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica, Paris St. Germain, and CSKA Moscow

So City, Juve, PSG, and CSKA would have replaced Barca, Chelsea, Porto, and Arsenal as Pot 1 teams.

I think in many cases if the coefficients are still used to create Pot 2, it would be a wash from a group construction standpoint. Pot 2 would become Barca, Chelsea, Porto, Arsenal, Schalke, Dortmund, Shaktar Donetsk, and Zenit.

After that, the only change would be Basel falling to Pot 3 because CSKA Moscow had been moved up.

Probably not a huge difference, but I'm in favor of the new seeding method. It is a "Champions" league afterall, so it makes sense to seed the champions from the big leagues. Man City deserved to be in Pot 1 over a 3rd place CFC and 4th place Arsenal.

I guess there'll at least be some silver lining when RM wins the CL.

Down with your The Tigers!

ZaZa gets the start again at forward for the Azzurri...has been really impressive partnering with Immobile so far...byebye Balotelli? Just remember, you'll never walk alone.

Brazil argentina friendly on BEIN right now.

Hope they were paid well to go to China and play on a pitch where you can see the seams of the sections of sod.

Field looks a little narrow too, Maybe it's just the cameras are half a mile away on the other side of the track?

AFCON 2015 qualifiers - The most unpredictable tournament in the world

Nigeria is playing a must win game on BEIN right now at the Sudan. They really need to take maximum points from the home and home today and next week or else the math starts working against them.

Algeria is the only team with a spotless record through three games

Egypt finally got off the schneid but are four points back of Senegal and Tunisia with the groups at the midway point.

Ivory Coast won away DR Congo to tighten up Group D because Cameroon managed only a draw vs Sierra Leone

Group E is really tight but could take some form depending on the result of Guinea-Ghana. This match is being played later today in Morocco because of Ebola. Morocco is also set to host the finals in January but the health ministry has asked that they be postponed.

The system as it has been (basing seedings primarily upon league strength) is probably imperfect and even as an Arsenal fan I can acknowledge that they've benefited from that system more than most, but OTOH you can't simply ignore the strength of respective leagues and simply do seeding based upon league finish, as if every league is the same or at least similar. I don't know that there's a completely fair system to be had given the disparity in some leagues both in overall strength league-to-league, as well the varying differences in some leagues between the best and worst teams.

The current seedings rely heavily on on how teams perform in Champions League and Europa over the previous 5 years, plus 20% of the League Co-efficient.

ManUtd will drop significantly in the rankings over the next few years for missing both CL and Europa this season. Its why a club like Spurs can be ranked 17 - they have several consecutive years in Europe competitions, while Liverpool is ranked 43 - having missed CL and Europa twice in the last 5 years.

Sudan beats Nigeria 1-0. The Super Eagles pretty much have to win their last three to have a shot at qualifying but they won't do that if they play like they did today. The loss today could be the end of the line for Stephen Keshi.

The inconsistency with African teams is baffling ...neither rhyme nor reason.

I think the Cup of Nations would be well served by cutting back to a four year cycle. There were/are major tournaments in 2012, 2013 and 2015 (AFCON) and 2010 and 2014 (World Cup). CAF is the largest federation with 56 member countries (two more than UEFA) so there's a relentless pace of competitive matches.

Like everything else in world football, money plays a big role. Tournament games are the only big draw in Africa and it's always difficult to bring in other sides for home friendlies.

The unpredictability does keep things interesting. The games are often sloppy to the point of chaos but they're usually fun to watch especially when the top European players show up and are given free rein.
