Sorry to go back but I still don't see what some United supporters see in P. Jones. I don't care if Rojo should have covered for him and I don't care that one of the midfielders should have been marking Sessigion - WHAT THE #### WAS HE DOING???
He is actually a good player but oft injured and still a little reckless. As a #1 CB? No, he needs a stronger presence with him. Jones actually has done well when given a specific task like mark x player or play holding MF or right back. He has been moved around into so many positions and often misses games due to injury that I think he gets easily out of sorts. When he plays in central defense, which he says is his preferred position, he gets caught up into the MF allowing holes like the goal. And Rafael did hold the striker on, but Jones should not have gone.

At the moment I would rather have him then Smalling or Evans sitting in there. Although Blackett and McNair have both shown better IMO as well.

If everyone is fit I would almost like to see Rafael, McNair, Rojo, Blackett as the back 4. Too young? Maybe. Although I expect Chelsea to eat them alive no matter who is back there, although if Costa isnt fit it helps.
I like Jones as a DM but that role is different under LVG than it was under Ferguson or Moyes.
My thoughts exactly. Jones is perfect as a man-marking destroyer in front of the back four, but top teams don't really play that anymore. Jones isn't exactly Pirlo, Gerrard, or Xabi Alonso passing out of deep positions, so I'm not sure where he fits in at United. I don't think he's gotten a lick better as a CB since coming over from Blackburn.

Enjoying the minor scuffle between Paulsen and the Timbers Army on Twitter. TA account was harshly critical of the team selection for the Concacaf Champions League game in Honduras. Paulsen eventually tweets at them to "####."

Meanwhile DCUnited (who had already clinched the knockout round in fairness) sent 13 scrubs down to Panama and still won ugly, 1-0.

I'm a fan- but he's a plug and play guy for me to cover injuries and schedule overload (not really a problem for United these days). I don't actually "like" him as a bonafide starter anywhere... but agree that DM is where he's best.

@anfieldonline: TEAM: Mignolet, Johnson, Lovren, Skrtel, Moreno, Gerrard, Allen, Henderson, Coutinho, Sterling, Balotelli #LFC

@LFC: Confirmed @realmadrid team v #LFC: Casillas, Arbeloa, Varane, Pepe, Marcelo, Kroos, Modric, Rodriguez, Isco, Ronaldo, Benzema

So... the Raul to Cosmos thing- uninteresting?
Kind of. I understand he'll also run their academy, which I find more interesting. But I don't find 37 year old strikers playing in the NASL particularly compelling. I'm sure he'll get a few goals simply by camping on the last shoulder and playing not a lick of defense,

it's still Raul. kinda big deal, IMO. like Ronaldinho playing for the Railhawks, but Spanisher. and it sounds like your vision of him now isn't much different than my vision of him during his prime.

He's playing and coaching, right? That will be fun

:pickle: for today

Pulling the kids out of school early for the game. #dadoftheyear
Good idea to get them used to the heartache early. Sort of like a vaccination?

This is gonna be ugly :(
It gets worse. Gator Jr. will be sporting his LFC Balotelli jersey. #childabuse
:lmao: I can almost guarantee that he wore it today
:confirmed:
Did he swap it at halftime?

What a crazy game for Arsenal. They no right to those opts, imo, but I'm glad they got them. Their defense was atrocious. They were playing D like it was FIFA on amateur mode. As long as you don't try anything fancy or change speeds, you can actually just walk right into the net. Take all the space you want. It's your space after all. Here, let this Big ####### German escort you right into the box so there isn't any trouble. So bad.

And Sanchez

Jones isnt the passer so playing in the carrick/blind spot wont be a good spot in this team. He is not a bad player but like a lot of the younger guys that SAF brought in prior to retiring, they have regressed. His is mostly due to injuries and missed time.

How did the kid look in net?

Well, Arsenal got back in front quickly...
I've gotten heartbroken in just that fashion too many times not to be pleased, but damn that was a poor all around performance. I'm not sure Anderlecht would avoid relegation in the Premier League, so Arsenal should be comfortably winning that sort of game, even away.

Wasn't really tested but once and made a great save on a well-struck ball. Goal wasn't his fault. I'd need to see more before I made any bigger judgments.

I am not impressed with Balotelli. He seems extremely unconfident and seems like he's playing by himself.

Liverpool has some problems. Can't score and can't defend.

Also, gotta say that Arsenal were lucky Sacha didn't get on. He probably would've clinched the game for Anderlecht. Silly coaching decision to not play him, IMO.

Suarez may play this Sat. :hifive:
I'd be shocked if he didn't.
I don't think it is given. Depends on the scoreline. You don't think he'll start, do you?
I don't think he'll start. Maybe if Barcelona is getting blown out they won't bring him in. Sandro is really the only other player in the squad that can play a similar game.

If they're protecting a small lead I don't think he'll come in. Maybe even in a tie. 1pt away with the pts lead they have wouldn't be too bad a thing. Probably come on in a tie and definitely down 1 or 2 I think.

The cream rising here boys. Atlético thumped Malmo 5-0 today.

You EPL fanboys got some 'splainin to do. Y'all look poor. Liverpool walloped at home, Arsenal squeaking by on late late goals, Man City literally ####ting themselves... Only Chelsea is hanging with the big boys.

Even Chelsea dropped points to S04 in London. I don't think there's any denying it at this point. The EPL may be the most interesting league week to week, top to bottom, but is not at strong as La Liga at the top.
