I have some Welsh descent and I'm left-handed. Coincidence? Cymraeg ftw.
 
This is going to be the year of the retirement for MLS. Another MLS stud will be announcing his relatively premature retirement tomorrow due to head injuries he has not been able to kick.

Taylor Twellman was the fastest MLS player ever to 100 goals. Never really found his groove with the nats but anyone who watched him play will always remember that he gave everything in every game.

 
Some very good CL Matches going on right now.

Shaktar/Arsenal is an end to end affair, lots of chances, Arsenal is on the short end of it 1-2 at half...but who knows.

Real Madrid/AC Milan is another very good one, 1-0 at half.

Bayern is up 2-0 vs Clug, a win here and they should win the group. Marseille is crushing.

Oh and Chelski being held 0-0 at home against Sparta!!! not watching that one, but by all accounts a real snoozer

 
Disappointing loss for Arsenal today, but Shakhtar played extremely well. :hifive: to Eduardo with the game-winner.

As a sidenote, though, I have to say that Jack Wilshere's field vision is absurdly good for a player of his age and experience level. I've always had a ton of respect for the players with exceptional field vision, as it was something I prided myself on and something that I often used to make up for my own shortcomings on the field.....and Wilshere has it. He doesn't have the technical skill of a guy like Fabregas or the scoring touch of a Nasri/Arshavin, but the kid is going to be something special.

He still has a lot of growing to do - he gets visibly frustrated at times - but I think he's got more upside than Walcott did 3 years ago (when he was 18). I know that's a bit of hindsight as Walcott hasn't grown into the superstar we Arsenal fans were hoping for, but that's an ultimate compliment for Wilshere at his age. I'm really excited to watch him develop.

Watching Madrid vs Milan and I'm shocked to find myself rooting for Madrid. Turns out I subconsciously hate Milan more. Who knew?

Actually, Özil, Di Mariá, Xabi Alonso, Ramos - I lack hate for them. I think something is wrong with me.

I'm at halftime on that game. I almost punched my TV when Ronaldo went Rivaldo and got shot in the face when a Milan player touched his neck.

Finally watched it tonight. Bale is faster than Woz I think! When I saw the game in August, I asked the guys I was with, who is the fast white guy?

 
Not too many players in the world that you'd want with a completely unmarked header from 6 yards out over Henry....and he squandered it.

I guess that goes to show just how much of a team game soccer is. NY with three of the best - if not the three best - players in the league and they can't pull it off at home. Granted Henry played only 15 minutes, Marquez looked bad (per TU, I didn't watch the first half), and Angel scored the lone goal, but still.

Fun playoff game. League obviously wanted NY to advance but SJ earned it. Convey had an awesome game that may earn him a call up in the Jan camp.

I really... really hope that you are right about Wilshere. He is exciting for sure. But something tells me that when we look back 5 years from now, it will be Walcott >> Wilshere. And that's not necessarily a knock at Jack. I just think that Walcott is about to take that next step. In any case, Arsenal should be glad to have both of them.

I think it's tough to compare a CM to a striker or a wing. I think Wilshere has the better future simply because I still don't know what Theo's best position is. Theo has certainly made a huge leap in composure this year, and has inexplicably become Arsenal's best finisher. So maybe he's an all out striker. But his pace still makes him a candidate for the wing. So much of Theo's promise is reliant on just pure blistering pace, and I just wonder if that can hold up as he keeps getting kicked for the next ten years.I think Wilshere is the future of not just Arsenal, but possibly the English national team. He's the best passing English CM since Paul Scholes, IMO (Carrick seemed to have that potential too, but he lacks the grit of Jack).

Walcott has pace but I don't think he's ever going to become great. Pace fades over time so while he gains skill he loses that speed. Wilshere has something else. His gifts are less physical and more upstairs....things that don't fade over time. Central mids generally hit their own much later simply bc the position is more demanding intellectually. The fact that Wilshere is already shining this bright this early seems to indicates a much higher ceiling IMO.

Good stuff guys. Like I said before, I hope that all of you are right about Jack. My hopes are very high for him, but they are maybe tempered a bit more than the consensus seems to be here.
