I just wanted to say that if Jozy continues to develop I think we're about one or two players away(in the midfield) from being a legitimate threat to go DEEP in 2010. We're no Spain or Brazil, but we've got some potency in the right places.

In the biggest non shocking move of the week, Mexico fired Sven Goran yesterday.

Mexico is too talented to miss qualifying IMO but they need to get things fixed fast. Their combined record in qualifying is horrible compared to their usual standards.

This is a team with talented youngsters and a older set of players that is either retired or on the down slope of their career.

It does not help that there best player, Marquez, plays below his level when he puts on a green shirt.
It has been a while since he played at a decent level with the blaugrana shirt too.

OK, so the US is in Group B in CONCACAF Gold Cup with Haiti, Greneda and Honduras. The top two teams in B play in Philly in July in the quarterfinals.

Odds of US not being in the top 2? 100-1? More? Less?

Anybody in here play Football Manager? Just picked up the 2009 version. It's pretty much crack.
I bought it about a month ago after reading Z and Scoob talking about it. I like the game, but sometimes the level of detail is a little frustrating and it can take a lot of time. Another slightly annoying thing is in 2009 Arsenal is pretty off the charts. I think they have lost three games in all competitions in the season and a half I have played through. Its a little frustrating when you pretty much have to win every game in the EPL just to keep pace with Arsenal on points.
whoa... prescient stuff here. :clap:I wouldn't have ever guess at DMB playing in the back.

what an unbelievable finish to the Man-U v Aston villa game. Man U down 2-1 in the 80th minute and Ronaldo sneaks a grounder into the corner to tie it up. Then, in the 3rd minute of extra time, some 17 year old Italian kid that nobody had ever heard of makes a brilliant touch and buries a rocket in the top corner past Friedel. Un-freaking real.

i know honduras is pretty good, but haiti and greneda? if we lose to either of those teams we should give up the sport.
Oh I thought you meant top 2 in the tournament, not top 2 in the group....never mind...

 I'm in Detroit at the Final 4, so I didn't see the game, but I have it on DVR waiting for me on Tuesday when I get home....Arsenal now 6 points clear of Villa in 4th with 7 games remaining....

Villa didnt deserve to lose that game. SAF goes with the kid over Welback (who has played pretty good for them too) and in his DEBUT scores a season saving winner. Beautiful touch and finish. The composure it takes to do that. If he and welbeck make the most of their time Tevez could see his way out.

And this Macheda kid sounds like something special...I look forward to him suiting up for the Azzurri in the future...
I love his debut, a goal in the 93rd anda yellow for leaving the pitch to celebrate....

I've got a lot of catching up to do...

Some great, great stuff you guys wrote about the US games- I'll chime in when I get a second. I was in Mexico for both games (vacation) and LOVED being there for Honduras' drubbing of el Tri.

A lot of energy spent by Man U on Sunday in their comeback against Aston Villa - could they be ripe for a letdown today against Porto at Old Trafford?

I'm pulling hard for el submarino amarillo here. Santi Cazorla is out for Villarreal, and Cesc will start for Arsenal. Senna will look to limit Cesc's creative options in the middle of the field. These teams aren't too far apart IMO, with Arsenal having a midfield edge with Cesc, Nasri, and Walcott over Senna, Cani, Ibagaza, and Eguren. Adebayor is pretty good, but I think that Rossi and Llorente form a pretty damn good partnership up top. The Arsenal defense is a bit stouter than Villarreal's, but I rarely like to bet against Capdevilla. Diego López is the 2nd best goalie in Spain and might be more than a bit better than Almunia, who likely won't be called up to the Spanish team any time soon (Diego López has been called up and might get his first cap against Turkey).

I prefer Wenger's 4-2-3-1 over the traditional 4-4-2 with 2 wingers, but that's life.

Two draws. Wow.

All teams have a shot, but ManU has the hardest road, having given up 2 goals at home, not to mention looking like ### in doing so.

What is Arsenal like in Emirates this year? I would think that playing in Old Tafford would be more difficult.

Whoa... United were dreadful that first half. They looked worn-out from the opening whistle- maybe that Villa game is still in their legs. They couldn't even trap the ball, let alone pass or shoot it cleanly. At least they turned things around that 2nd half and made a game of it.

Gotta say, one of my all-time favorite players- Paul Scholes- looked washed up today. I fully expected to see him draw yellow or red with one of his increasing old-leg, missed challenges. It makes me sad.

I still don't get the lack of love for Tevez from Sir Alex... what goofy drama did I miss that's keeping him off the field?

I thought Evra was the man-o-match for United- the only guy who looked comfortable matching the touch and pace of Porto, especially in the opening half.

(watching Arsenal on DVR right now)

Arsenal hasn't lost at the Emirates since November and the squad is finally starting to get healthy. It's so nice to have Cesc back!

Adebayor's goal was amazing, highlight reel stuff - one of the best I've seen in a long time.

btw: If Chelsea and Bayern both advance, I have a ticket reserved for the game at Allianz arena in Munich from an old friend over there who is a long time Bayern season ticket holder, so today is a big day for me. I've seen Bayern play at the old Olympia Stadium in Munich twice (in the 80's), but never been to the new stadium, which by all accounts is spectacular. I'm already trying to decide whether I'll wear the 2003 Damian Duff jersey in home blue or the Drogba third kit black jersey from 2004.

Will you be potentially sitting in the middle of a Bayern fan section?

Best of luck today. Go Reds. I'm going to try to sneak away some place to watch the game today.

When is the Liverpool game broadcast today, for those of us who don't have Tivo?
It is the live match on ESPN2, so 2:30 eastern with kickoff around 2:45.I'm still miffed I'm not able to see the Bayern v Barcelona match. :P
It should be on ESPNCLassic around 5:30 or so. They were advertising that the second game would be shown on delay.
:lmao: Pretty sure they run that 2nd game on delay at 5:00.Holy crap- both of those goals in the Arsenal v VR game were insane. Fun game to watch too- evenly matched, flowing-attacking style teams.

Thank God ESPN360 is available on all college campuses...
I'm not in college, and my Comcast does not carry it.

Nope. The program guide show highlights of past Master tournaments. It is on ESPNDeportes, sadly no access to that either.
