When is the Liverpool game broadcast today, for those of us who don't have Tivo?
It is the live match on ESPN2, so 2:30 eastern with kickoff around 2:45.I'm still miffed I'm not able to see the Bayern v Barcelona match.
Thank God ESPN360 is available on all college campuses...
You mean I could watch this in my office? Hmmmmmmmmm.
I am in my on-campus office and ESPN360 works here :thumbup:I'll watch half the game here and half of it during class :goodposting:

I'm not in college, and my Comcast does not carry it.

It should be on ESPNCLassic around 5:30 or so. They were advertising that the second game would be shown on delay.
Nope. The program guide show highlights of past Master tournaments. It is on ESPNDeportes, sadly no access to that either.
Strange... they've been pretty consistent about showing the "other" game on CLassic at 5:00 (or after the 1st finishes on ESPN2). I checked here in NYC and it's the same as what Mj says... the 1st game is on delay on Deportes, and the Bayern game is on at 7:00. I wonder if they'll still show the game at 5:00, regardless of what the program guide says?

Often the ESPNCL program guide is out of date. I just went to Tivo.com and set my DVR. The Barca/Bayern game was listed for ESPNCL at 5PM

I checked the schedule last night and they have the Bayern game on tomorrow on ESPN Classic (which is not HD, but I'll take it). I'll record it and watch but will most likely know the result by then. I've got good reason to be a big Bayern fan now so hope they can pull an upset or at least get an away goal, despite their injuries and recent troubles in the Bundesliga. I read yesterday that Barca has given up more goals than any other quarterfinalist, and Bayern has by far the best goal differential in the CL (I assume), so at the very least we can expect some goals in that game. I'm taking a long, late lunch today to watch Chelsea-Liverpool with a co-worker who is a huge Liverpool fan. John Arne Riise won't be there to rescue the Blue this year, but neither will Louis Garcia. A 1-1 would be great, but I would happily take an 0-0. Expect to see Essien or Obi-wan blanket Gerrard. Terry is playing with a yellow so Torres is a huge concern. I believe Ricky is back today and will play, which is a big relief if true. I expect Hiddink to do a bit of attacking early, then settle in and play for a counter or an 0-0.

Cletiues, any reccomendations on a place to catch the game in the West Loop?
I am no longer in Chicago, but would say it will definitely be on at the Abbey Pub at Grace and Elston. Its on ESPN2, so really any respectable sports bar should have at least one or two televisions showing the game.

Well that's not really anywhere near where I work, but I'll have to check it out for some Saturday games. Thanks for the info.

Oh, and where are you now?

While true, I think the bolded is very misleading as Barca's first choice defense has been very stingy. In most of the games(particularly in the group stages) their lineup featured players like Caceres and Victor Sanchez with players like Puyol playing the wing and Gudjohnson as a defensive mid. Hell even Jorquera(third choice keeper) got a start and conceded three of the goals in the match against Shaktar where Barca rolled with their junior team. These aren't the types of players that you can expect to see playing today and going forward. I think Barca's D has held up very well against top competition in both this tournament and in league play(there was a four week stretch against the next four teams in the table where they only gave up one goal). As long as Valdes remembers how to play keeper the D should be strong again today.

Me too, but I don't teach. I'm the Student Activities guy. Methinks I'm just gonna take a two hour lunch and watch it at home, and then stay on an extra hour today. Would have to come back up here for intramural softball anyway.

I've decided to say screw it and I'm leaving work early today. I'm going to watch Pool and Chelsea at a Chelsea pub near my place. Whether or not that is going to be a good decision, remains to be seen.

I've set my DVR for 5-7 on ESPN Classic just in case, but I'll be listening to B5 aktuell out of Munich and searching for any TV feed while the game is on.Hopefully DP will not be calling me with updates because if I see his number I will know it isn't good for Bayern.

Well, I meant that I'll be in class, not paying attention to the professor.I have, however, watched college basketball while my students were taking a quiz last March. I don't know if anyone remembers the Western Kentucky - Drake game where WKU hit a buzzer beater to win.... :hifive: I announced it to my class while they were taking the quiz.

Barça has more talent than Bayern. Take their lineups:

Henry > Hamit Altintop (dependign on if henry comes alive, otherwise Altintop is more consistent)

Eto'o = Toni (Eto'o is having a fantastic year. Toni isn't the player he once was IMO)

Messi > Ribery (this one is actually closer than you might think)

Iniesta = Schweinsteiger (I prefer Iniesta's game, but Schweinsteiger gets the job done)

Yaya Touré = Van Brommel (Not a fan of either of these players)

Xavi > Zé Roberto (not that far apart, but Xavi is more creative and dangerous IMO)

Puyol > Oddo (although I don't like him on the wing... he's a much better central defender)

Piqué > Breno (Piqué has been OK for Barça this year)

Márquez < DeMechilis (Rafa is on his last legs IMO)

Dani Álves > Lell (This is probably the biggest difference on the field)

Valdez > Butt (why isn't Rensing playing?)

Don't like Pique in over Sylvinho. Sylvinho has been much better at left back as the season goes on and I don't get why he wouldn't start. Not that I agree with too much of what you said, but DeMechilis has been terrible as of late.

This backline SUCKS!!!
I don't know what your coach is thinking. Bayern has the talent to match up against Barcelona very well, but it isn't on the pitch. Obviously it is difficult because you are without Lucio and Van Bommel. But not having Lamn or Rensing makes no sense.

Why is ESPN scrolling the Barca-Bayern score over and over here? Don't they normally hide it? I'm guessing it is correct that they aren't showing it on delay.

ESPN has always had problems with this. Its like the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. They may still show the game later. Best you can do is tape something across the bottom of the screen.

Yep, this is a major complaint I have with ESPN. They seem to scroll scores of everything, regardless if the event will be aired later or not.

It's a shame that 'pool and Barça are on the same side of the draw. I think they're playing like the 2 best teams right now. I previously thought that ManU looked like a shoo-in for the final, but they will be hard pressed to get a road win in Porto. Road wins are really really tough in CL. Something like only 20% get that road win on the return leg when the first game is a draw.

Did Butt really get spiked by Henry? the rough translation from the gamecast in Spanish indicates a "hard hit from the cleats of Henry".

From the ESPN gamecast ...

John Terry's hair is receding at an alarming rate. There will soon be an island at the front, sitting, rather like Britain in the days of Empire, in splendid isolation.

...

Talking of matters hirsute, I'm intrigued as to the thought process behind Benitez's goatee. Did he suddenly think hmm, I'd look great with one of those? He does not.

....

As you may have guessed, after 34 decent minutes, there's been a little lull in proceedings.
