This double talking on ESPN is pissing me off...they have the ESPN guys and the international guys talking over one another.

I love having La Liga on ESPN...I can finally watch some games!

Maybe I'll even pick a team to follow now...

and :lmao: at Iniesta chillin, reading the newspaper in the crowd

Can't believe they haven't fixed the audio yet. LOVE La Liga on ESPN. HD soccer is awesome. Sucks I don't have any Fox Sports in HD. Champions league in standard definition is wrong.

I was looking for games on ESPN the whole WE. Is this only a Monday evening thing? That would be the suck since I'm still at work on the west coast.

Oh and Bojan is going to be the real deal. He's shown some really great flashes.

If any of you guys are looking for a la Liga team that's a heart attack or Jekyl/Hyde every single week, then look no further than my boys los rojiblancos, los colchoneros, Atlético de Madrid! Bonus points because they play in CL and aren't Real and aren't Barça, plus you get to cheer against Chelsea TWICE this year!

Other good la Liga teams are Villarreal (a team from a small town of less than 50,000 population) with the 2nd best goalie in la Liga. Sevilla is also quality, and if you enjoy a Newcastle type atmosphere, perhaps Betis is right for you...

I believe there is supposed to be a game every Sunday at 3 PM.

Is anyone watching Fox Football Fone-in?

Eric Wynalda is making an ### of himself...seriously. If you get a chance to turn it on, take a look. I don't know what he's doing...he looks legitimately pissed at someone and he kinda comes off like a spoiled brat.

BTW, World Soccer Daily is being rebranded as World Football Daily, and they're taking it to Ustream and have a "membership" to listen to their show. Now I like the show, but there's no farking way I'll pay $10.00 a month to listen to it. Sorry.

Will there be a big sign on the front door saying "no Liverpool fans allowed"?

Probably.I think maybe I'd give them a one time $10 donation, but not monthly. Maybe $1 monthly.

Looks like Adu is officially on loan to Os Belenenses
lol... WTF? W= "where"
lower table first division Portuguese side
Oh- that's great. I figured it was Siberian 3rd division or something....
For the record, Os Belenenses is not a lower division team - they play in the top flight in Portugal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_Liga

The article below says as much....

Even I know that "lower table first division" means that they play in the top flight. They're just not very good.

No expert here, but for me, United needs Berbatov's creativity up front in a big way. Giggs is obviously a crafty vet, but Berbatov brings more playing behind Rooney at this point. giggs made things happen yesterday, but it took 25 mistakes to make 1 or 2 big plays.
Fergie has preferred the 4-5-1 in some of our tougher games of late (especially in CL) but it's not going to work any more with Giggs playing as the supporting striker. He doesn't have the legs or the creativity for it any more. Giggs was always at he best as a LW but he doesn't have the pace for that any more. I was in shock that he didn't come out and Berba come in for the 2nd half Saturday. Giggs gave away so many chances to break or put guys through on the goalie. Arsenal defitnitely outplayed us, but I think United is in "rebuillding" mode (to use a college FB/BB term) at least for the first half of the season. It will take time for Valencia and Owen to work their way in to the squad and someone is going to have to step up in the midfield. Fletcher has been great, but one of Anderson or Carrick is going to have to up their game to make up for what we've lost with CR and Tevez leaving.Ultimately, it's still too soon to say with any team - Spurs and City look good but do they have the depth and mental aspect to their game to last the full 38? I will say (to somewhat contradict myself) that when Pool went down 2-1 to Bolton I said if they managed to lose that game then their season (in the EPL at least) may be over after just 4 games.

yeah...I think the Monday afternoon slot is usually for the EPL game. I was actually pretty shocked/dissappointed when I turned on ESPN at 5:30 yesterday and realized they were showing the game and I'd missed most of it. I have a feeling they'll only be showing Barca/RM matches (and I saw a story that they will be showing both matched between the two) with the rest being on ESPNDesportes or GolTV. I do find it sort of ironic in this day and age, I can watch as many matches of the EPL or La Liga a week than I can for the NFL (much less the NBA/NHL/or MLB on any given night) on regular cable. Pretty amazing when you think about it.

Transfer window is set to close here tonight or so.....Spurs were hit a devastating blow with Modric out for 6 weeks. It was rumored they were after Van De Vaart from Real, but that seems to have fallen through now. Interestingly, they still have David Bentley on the bench - I don't believe he's played a game in the premier league yet this year, but I did see him in another competition (can't recall if it is a cup or UEFA action).I haven't seen any other "big" news, but, it would not surprise me in the least to see ManU address their issues in midfield. I heard they were looking after Modric, obviously that is now out. Not sure who else they may target, but an imaginative, fast, midfield player could offer a change of pace this team may be looking for. I know Ferguson has said he was done making transfer this year...but with all that money to spend, I dunno. They have sooo many young guys right now and quite a few old players, not much in between.
Well, it looks like United has once again squashed any rumors of late minute arrivals. I know for a fact Sir Alex reads this thread to see my thoughts, and has taken a public forum to address my concerns. Oh well.It appears that Bentley will be swapped to Man City for Martin Petrov. I think this is a shrewd move for Redknapp and Spurs, as Petrov is a similar player to Modric and may find a place to thrive in his absence. Bentley is buried deep on the bench, but I'm not sure moving to City is going to change things for him much at all. I've always liked Bentley (and Gareth Bale for that matter) and think he has a world of talent......but maybe he needs to be back on a lesser team like Blackburn for his talents to develop. Not much else going on of yet.

it was a lot easier to do this when Ronaldo was one of the 5 MF'ers. He was obviously a threat frm anywhere on the pitch. Giggs is not. (bone headed own goals by Arsenal aside)

couple hours to go - BBC Sport with the live blog covering all the last minute news and rumors: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/8227622.stmAs expected, it appears Chelsea will conclude another transfer season as net sellers, without a major signing (Zhirkov being their biggest signing this summer). The biggest success for the Blues was keeping JT from the lure of Man City riches and signing him and Drogba to multi-year contracts.

The Z Machine said:
I had a dream last night that el Kun and Heitinga got traded straight up for 2 guys on Spurs that I'd never heard of.I was livid.
From that BBC rumor feed:
1618: Rumours abound that Johnny Heitinga is signing on the dotted line for Everton from Atletico Madrid. It's not been 100% confirmed yet, but we'll let you know if/when it goes through.
Poor Z Machine.

Heitinga to Everton was being reported as a done deal over the weekend, but there is still no official confirmation. I noticed his wikipedia page (an unassaible source of truth) now lists his club as Everton.

Also, UEFA announces a two game ban for Eduardo for diving, and in a related story I have decided to cut Eduardo from my EPL fantasy team before the next gameday.

Well, I think that £6m is a fair value for a guy that Atleti brought in for £8.9m last year and proceeded to #### himself repeatedly in matches. He wasn't adding anything to an already shoddy defense other than another player who looked liked he was mailing it in at times.

I wasn't upset in the dream about losing Heitinga, but rather el Kun leaving for a pittance. In the dream these Spurs players were one second rate striker and one "up and coming" youngster that was bound not to pan out. Obviously I had read something yesterday about Heitinga that had sparked the dream. Crazy, stupid unconscious brain...

Did the Bentley swap end up happening, or did they just get Kranjar instead?

yeah the transfer news I get is spotty and hard to confirm sometimes.

It looks like the Bentley deal didn't go through - but Kranjcar to Spurs did. That's an awesome deal for Spurs, imho, Kranjcar was toiling away in Portsmouth and will be a great addition. I don't know why Spurs didn't move Bentley to be honest, there had to be some buyers and if Redknapp isn't going to play him, why keep him?

Also, the Dunne to Villa deal doesn't look finalized yet, but I thought that was a done deal.

That's right. So suck it, guru.

Anybody else catch Fulham v Aston Villa? Thought Dempsey played fairly well (compared to how he's been playing lately)- had that swagger in his step- but Fulham looked pretty toothless. They really need a MF capable of freeing up his team-mates dangerously and not just knocking the ball around the mid-stripe. Greening and Etuhu in the middle were on the level of Beckerman and Pause, leaving Demspey and Duff uselessly served.
Losing Andy Johnson didn't help. But their MF hasn't been the same since Bullard went to Hull.

LinkZ will be happy to know that they've added the 09-10 Atletico shirt.

One other thing to note is that the available sizes with fluctuate. For example, my Liverpool shirt is a Large. Right now, they only have S, M and XL availabl.

Vennegoor of Hesselink (quite possibly the coolest soccer name out there) signs with Hull. Probably not what Altidore was expecting when he signed there.

Oh My...Chelsea banned from transfering anone in until Jan 2011

Link
 Awesome.
ManU up next?
I would imagine Chelsea appeal it down to one window. ManU will probably get nothing for this. The whole transfer program is starting to look shady though. I would imagine some new group in UEFA formed to sort this out. Is the Tevez issue finally sorted out? There were at least 3 clubs involved in that fiasco.
