Colombian striker Lionard Pajoy is expected to make his foray into Major League Soccer as a member of the Union, a source told the Daily News.According to the source, a pesky contract situation with Pajoy's current club Itagui Ditaires, of the Colombian first division, has stalled his move to Philly. The source said the deal should be completed in the "next couple of days" once his P-1 visa and other paperwork are approved by the league. The news of Pajoy's possible arrival to MLS was first released by Colombian soccer website FutbolRed.com.Members of the Union's technical staff declined comment, the norm when there are rumblings of potential player signings. The source said that through tireless efforts of Union chief scout and development coordinator Diego Guiterrez, the Union was able to help Pajoy 30, realize a desire to continue his career in America. It's too early to say if Pajoy will become a replacement if forward Sebastien Le Toux, currently on trial with Bolton, receives an offer from the English club, but based on his body of work, Pajoy can pick up where Le Toux left off. He is the current leading scorer in Colombia's first division with 10 goals in 18 matches.Pajoy would certainly bring a wealth of experience to a young Union attack corps that features Danny Mwanga, Jack McInerney, Josue Martinez, signed this offseason and top SuperDraft pick Chandler Hoffman; four players all under the age of 25.
