Nice job by Adam Johnson to, ahem, draw the penalty early against Fulham. 1-0.
It always amazes me that 90+% of the fan base can agree on something this basic and the people who run the sport continue to leave their heads buried in the sand.It could be set up very easily as well and if you make the punishment harsh enough (on both club/country and player) it might have an affect going forward. There needs to be some kind of after-game punishment for diving.
He was waiting for his 9 year old son's game which came next and was watching a 7 year old game and the ref gave a red card to some kid, and Becks told him off and the ref kicked Beckham off the field. lolEven more than Walcott? I think Walcott was more exciting for me, but The Ox looks like he could be very special.Whatever happens the rest of the year with Arsenal, I can't remember being more excited about a young player than I am for The Ox.
He's kind of like a combined Rooney/Walcott. Totally agree- very exciting young talent.Whatever happens the rest of the year with Arsenal, I can't remember being more excited about a young player than I am for The Ox.
Nice. But a red card for a 7yo? wtf.Wegner said that they may look into trying to extend Henry's loan by two weeks. If not, I believe he has likely played his last match ever at home for Arsenal.Beckham managed to pick up a red card while watching a youth soccer game that was not even his own kidsHe was waiting for his 9 year old son's game which came next and was watching a 7 year old game and the ref gave a red card to some kid, and Becks told him off and the ref kicked Beckham off the field. lol

that was exactly Beckham's point. I guess the 7 year old tripped someone in the penalty area and the ref gave him a red card and Becks saw it and started to scream at the ref that you can't give a red card to a 7 year old and then the ref gave Becks a red card. Must have been quite the site for the soccer momsNice. But a red card for a 7yo? wtf.Wegner said that they may look into trying to extend Henry's loan by two weeks. hello exactly. Not sure how it would be set up, but an after game review commitee that goes through all the games of the week and tags the players and teams who commit this crap. Johnson should be ashamed of himself for both of those displays... and he and his team should pay for it financially and with suspension since shame obviously doesn't work with these players any more.It always amazes me that 90+% of the fan base can agree on something this basic and the people who run the sport continue to leave their heads buried in the sand.It could be set up very easily as well and if you make the punishment harsh enough (on both club/country and player) it might have an affect going forward. There needs to be some kind of after-game punishment for diving.
guy shouldn't be allowed to ref kids. idiotic. it's not the freaking WC. first red card I remember seeing growing up was in u12- my team-mate went ballistic- punching/screaming- on an opposing player for calling him the n-word. both got reds- other kid shoould have gotten suspended from the league, but no.that was exactly Becks his point. I don't know what you were watching.Welbeck dives to earn another PK for ManU
Wait for the ManU plus 6 of extra timeHoward Webb authoring a fine comeback here.![]()
Gary Cahill in no man's land....not exactly the best way to endear yourself to the new fans....Luiz was :whoosh: as wellWhere was the marking? Incredible.
Neutral observer...I hope they both lose. But Howard's been terrible all game. He's got them all flopping like salmon now.Wow, Chicharito!I notice a lot ofin here over some perfectly acceptable calls.
The first penalty was deserved, the second was crap.Terrible defending, but it made for a fantastic game. What a game to televise nationally.Wow, Chicharito!I notice a lot ofin here over some perfectly acceptable calls.
I don't think you can call the second crap. Ivanovic's leg was outstretched. While his foot was planted, Welbeck did trip over it. It certainly wasn't a dive. The first penalty was deserved, the second was crap.Terrible defending, but it made for a fantastic game. Didn't realize how awesome that save was until the view from inside the goal.Da Howler! Great save.

Welbeck kicked Ivanovic, not the other way around. You can make a legitimate argument for another penalty earlier in the game against Welbeck, but the last one was a bad call.I don't think you can call the second crap. Hate to disagree with you, but it was a dive. It was a cheap call. Was the leg stretched out sure, but it was one that Welbeck could of avoided, and with his oscar award dive he got the call.I don't think you can call the second crap. It was pretty damn amazing. Certainly one of the best saves of the year.He kind of reminds me of Gomes. Incredible talent, but simply not consistent enough to be reliable day in and day out.Didn't realize how awesome that save was until the view from inside the goal.Da Howler! Great save.![]()

Welbeck doesn't have to avoid it to get the penalty. If Ivanovic hangs his leg out in front of Welbeck he is entitled to trip over it. The problem was Welbeck actively dragged his off leg back to snag Ivanovic. Ivanovic's leg really wasn't in his path to the ball.Anyway, we are overanalyzing it now. It wasn't a penalty, but he probably deserved one earlier so I guess it evens out.Hate to disagree with you, but it was a dive. It was a cheap call. Guess we will have to agree to disagree. Since we saw the same play, but see it different. I dont have a horse in the race, just calling as I see it. Agree 100% with everything Jones has said about this game and that play. What I've seen of him so far reminds me of a Man United Howard more than Gomes. Gomes makes so many inexplicable plays that are pure GK/psychotic mind-farts- but yeah, he can make some amazing reaction saves. Howard also made the great reaction saves getting down low and up into the corners sooo fast- but he was just terrible at those lofted crosses, particularly just off the six. I guess more of a positioning/experience thing, as Howard has gotten much better dealing with those type of crosses over time and with experience. From what I recall, De Gea's made a mess of crosses, but likewise is a great shot-blocker. Gomes just made a mess of everything. It was pretty damn amazing. Donovan has been DOMINANT for Everton. What's a Toffee anyway? The MLS loans seems to be working out ok for their EPL clubs. Henry and Keane have scored some goals (Keane had another today) and Landon has played pretty well for Everton, no goals but a handful of assists.
Toffee is a confection made by caramelizing sugar or molasses (creating inverted sugar) along with butter, and occasionally flour. My favorite is Thornton's.Donovan has been DOMINANT for Everton. De Gea also struggles with long shots and any kind of set piece where he has to deal with opposition in close proximity. Essentially, anything that isn't pure reaction. There has to be a mental component to that I would think.I see what you are saying with regard to Howard, but I think De Gea's problems are a lot more extensive than Howard's ever were. What I've seen of him so far reminds me of a Man United Howard more than Gomes. I think its a bad idea to splinter the thread. I dvr weekend matches too (when I remember). Just avoid the thread and then play catch-up. Some of my favorite posts are when people have been away for a while then they bump an old discussion. It can give a different perspective.'PIK95 said:I am one of the biggest footy fans on the board but can never enter this thread because of all yje spoilers on thr games. I DVR and watch every weekend match but cant usually get to them until a day later because I coach so much. I think it's too much to ask for everyone to spoiler tag match talk so I'm thinking of starting a non match talk footy thread because I'm a jealous hater and I need a fix. Thoughts? Liverpool-Spurs today on ESPN 2 should be a lot of fun today.
