Twellman's scoring rate is the most impressive of the top scorers. Broke a 100 in significantly less games (career cut short by concussions sadly)

I think that's based on the UEFA club coefficients which are based on Europeans competition results over the last 5 years. Currently they are ranked 66th there.

That just seems ridiculous to me. Why not use a seeding committee like the NCAA tournament? They goof up sometimes too, but you don't ever see them make a Top 10 team a 12 seed.

There aren't enough competitive games against common opponents to have a viable seeding system. Even if there was, the minnow federations of UEFA wouldn't agree with it.Ultimately, Dortmund has only themselves to blame for their place in Pot D. They finished bottom of a winnable group last year and I don't believe they made it out of the group stage in their last Europa League appearance.

I don't think league coefficient makes much sense either. Maybe factor it in if you use a team's league performance to gauge how good they are, but what if you have a great team from a top-heavy league?

That press release was an obvious mistake. It got taken down almost immediately. Fulham has been very vocal saying that they never received an offer and even put in a formal complaint against Liverpool.

Maybe I haven't watched him close enough but I really liked what Carrol had been doing toward the end of last season and with the national club. I know he's not cheap but seems like it would be smart to keep him around with Suarez. I liked the chemistry of those two together. If they can bring in Walcott and Clint, then I'll be pleased.

All of it's been second-hand reports. The only official news we really know is that Liverpool has never made an offer.

Maybe I haven't watched him close enough but I really liked what Carrol had been doing toward the end of last season and with the national club. I know he's not cheap but seems like it would be smart to keep him around with Suarez. I liked the chemistry of those two together. If they can bring in Walcott and Clint, then I'll be pleased.

I'll state an incredibly unpopular opinion. Since about March of last year, Liverpool has played better with Carrol than with Suarez. This is not to say that Suarez is not a better player. He is. But Suarez demands the ball so much that he can really do mischief to the team's attack on the days when he doesn't have his finishing boots (which have become increasingly common). Far too often, IMO, Liverpool's offense revolves around Suarez making a bunch of awesome one on one moves that ultimately amount to nothing.

It's based on your league's UEFA ranking and last season's results. If your league is ranked 1-3 in Europe (currently England, Spain, Germany) the top 3 teams in last season's standings go right into the 32-team group stage and one team goes into qualifying. Smaller countries can only get 1 team in and even then it takes a lot of qualifying.The Champions League plays on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and moves very slowly. The group stage will run from September to December, then they'll take a winter break before the knockout rounds start in late February.
