Of course, this could be simply a ploy to get Cain Hoy's name in the press...
I'd be surprised if that was the case, the Guggenheim's tend to not mess around.
Hard to say - with one press release, they have the entire London Financial District in a tizzy - they have announced who they are, who backs them, and they are open for business. Hard to imagine a more effective PR campaign to launch a business - which launched yesterday.
Just my gut feeling, but I don't think I'd want my club owned by a private equity group.

Here's the announcement -- http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/news-releases/cain-hoy-enterprises-announces-launch-of-operations-274809291.html
Funny - I posted that same comment, and press release on the Spurs site I post on

I will say this, ENIC started as a private equity group - albeit they have consolidated their investment portfolio over the years and primarily focus on Spurs, with Levy having a vested interest in the team. And, I do like the general direction that Guggenheim Partners have taken with the Dodgers. If these guys complete a take-over, and operate in a similar fashion - that would be good for Spurs.

I think EPL franchises are a good investment - if you buy into the notion that playing regular CL schedule is important to the value of the franchise. So, if they approach this with the mindset of creating a top-4 caliber team every year, that would be good.

Plus, when they build the new stadium, Spurs will be playing in the Guggenheim!!

So, one of the key executives at Cain Hoy is a Spurs season-ticket holder...stay tuned.

Spurs have issued a denial of ongoing sale discussions on their website - but technically Cain Hoy have only expressed an interest in making an offer, and have until October 10 to make an offer, or publicly withdraw interest.

Sounds like a big brawl is brewing between Coy Hain and Cain Hoy.

Cain Hoy

COYS!!

Don Garber announced he was cancer free and has signed an extension to remain MLS commisioner through 2018 which should see the league through this next phase of expansion.

The guy is far from perfect but he has done more right than wrong for the league.

The grading curve for commissioners has been brought down recently.

I can't have an opinion on this until I know where Cory Haim stands on the issue.

It is probably not a coincidence this extension was announced right now.

He no longer stands on any issue...

here's my blind guess for United's lineup.....

DDG

Rojo - Evans - Blackett - Shaw

- Blind -

DiMaria Valencia

Mata

Rooney - Falcao

Yeah, I can't see United running out a 3-5-2 right now - they are simply too weak defensively, in particular centre back.

3-5-2 works great when you have 3 athletic and good centre backs.

United has zero.

I think they need to commit four to the back -they have DiMaria and maybe Herrera or Valencia available to do loads of work on the wings. Mata can play deep and having Rooney and Falcao up to. Looks good to me, but wtf do I know

City at Arsenal early tomorrow, then 1v2 at the Bridge, a Madrid derby in the afternoon, and then United's new Galacticos debuting on Sunday. I'm looking forward to spending some time on the couch this weekend. If I didn't have my son's U10 games both days, I'd be praying for rain.

Falcao RvP

DiMaria Mata Rooney

Blind Herrera

Blackett Evans Rojos

Just a guess - I agree with guru - I wish LvG would go 4-2-3-1 and put Shaw at LB and Rafael at RB. With 3-5-2 I'm not sure if or how Shaw and Rafael fit in the squad. I don't know much about Rojos but there's going to be a lot of pressure on him to help stabilize the back line.

Looks like this could be the last chance to hop on Spurs bandwagon before they become one of the rich clubs...if any of the noobs are still looking to pick a club.

I think Marcus Rojo is more LCB then RCB in a 3-man back line, but that is more based on him playing LB for Argentina at the WC - so I assume when he played CB, it is more on the left side of the field

Arsenal-Man City is on at 8:45 local time. My ex-wife scheduled a 9:00 tutoring session with my son (who I have this weekend) to precede his 10:30 soccer game.

This team would lose

Looks like we'll see how stubborn LVG is soon enough

There's no one more stubborn than he is. Not to say he's stupid, but he'll only give up the back-3 scheme if he and he alone is convinced it's not going to work.

A little turning point in US soccer history? http://t.co/U5bXJKzwVj:
We were talking about this in the US thread. It is kind of a bizarre story. It might make some sense if this kid was really good at soccer but it appears he is not on anyone radar.

Scooby mentioned TopDrawerSoccer.com does not even track the kid and they have files on hundreds of youth players. They say they can't find him listed on any club team.

There is so much to this story that does not make sense.

Yep, I want a face. Hell, I'd take Jerry Jones over a board of directors.

The problem he faces IMO is if he plans to stick with 3-5-2 then he might as well do it now. Don't put 4 at the back this week and then 3 next week.

Shaw and Rafael would be wingbacks in the 352. Any formation that uses only one wide player on each side needs that player to be able to defend as well as provide width.

He could do it Marcelo Bielsa style - 2 center backs vs. lone striker formations, 3 against two strikers. That way you've always got a spare man at the back.

Those of you talking FIFA in here...what system? I'm still on the 360 but loosely considering an upgrade soon.

Sebowski/Gator - get the team back together? My man Santos needs to rise from the grave.
In, still on the 360 here too

Thinking about nixing Welsh Xavi and going with Jordandroid Henderson
Still 360 here. Let's do it.

Though I hated the last version of Be a Pro because you could only upgrade your player through online play. Didn't even make one.

I thought it was cool of Klinsmann to refer to him as "our commissioner" in his tweet. I like that he considered the MLS a big part of the National team.

I'm out East right now. Arsenal at 8, Barca at 10, Liverpool (my brother's team) at 1230, and Madrid derby at 2 all on my bro's 40th BDay. We got a keg and catered BBQ. :banned:

I should have answered better - I don't see how those two fit in a side with the other options I expect to play. Most of the issues seem to go away with just about any formation with 4 at the back. Will be interesting to see.
