I get the impression Skrtel and Costa are like Sam Sheepdog and Ralph Wolf -- it's all in the job.

Oddschecker has Liverpool and Chelsea both at roughly 40% to take the last CL spot, with Tottenham around 20%.
Well if past history is any proof, Spurs will take 4th, and Chelsea will win the CL.

I just took a quick trip through the wiki.

The lowest place a champion finished the following season was 7th (Blackburn).

Every other champion finished at worst top 4 the following season.

Rooney is not very good right now
I don't want to oversimplify things but this seems to be the root of what is wrong with United right now. He gives the ball away, doesn't setup anyone up, free kicks are crap and he isn't taking his chances. Martial put him through on goal twice, one time with a chance that is probably a goal 50% of the time.

I'm kind of terrified to talk about it for fear of jinxing them, but I can't remember enjoying an upstart EPL team the way I love this Leicester team. A bit leaky in the back, but fearless, which means lots of fun games.

Scoob, how do you have time to watch all these games with a little one? I barely have time to watch Atlético flub a lead and squander two points.

I read some fun MLS attendance stats today comparing this season to 2005 (10 years ago).

Average Attendance:

2005: 15,112

2015: 21,550

Median Attendance:

2005: 12,619

2015: 20,018

% of games under 10,000:

2005: 27.1%

2015: 0%

% of games over 20,000:

2005: 17.7%

2015: 50.3%

The most important number to me is the median. Years ago, MLS used selling tactics/gimmicks to burst attendance typically related to concerts or huge double headers tie ins, where the real attraction was not the MLS game. This is why there was such a big gap between the median and attendance back in 2005.

Now a days, those tactics are no longer needed and as such the median and average are much closer in line % wise.

DC vs NYR is first up in the MLS quadruple header at 3:00pm on ESPN.

I think there is more history between these two teams than any other in US history sans Portland and Seattle.

Bas Dost with the game winning assist to Julian Draxler today.

Bas Dost is people, people.
Das Boot & Draxler had both just been subbed in too. I love watching Bundesliga; every game seems to have a tremendous atmosphere. The stadiums are exceptionally designed, allowing the impact of the Tifosi to be accentuated in all aspects. Watched Hamburg vs Hangover '96 also, & it was just as enjoyable from a "neutral's" perspective...

Winning.S' up.
Catenaccio wins out...I thought Mancini played his compact tactics perfectly again Roma's "run&shoot"; cynical, but effective. That being said, GARY MEDEL, from outside the box?!...Really?! Never would of thought; well-played, regardless. ROMA IN SERIE B!

DCU's pass completion percentage was a robust 54%. Even when they win, I hate watching this team, so I don't want to hear any whining about Zubar not getting red.

that was a pretty awful game. I hate first legs, no one wants to play.

Good old Dax though. Working his way to the front of the least appreciated US player ever.

Parkhurst is a pretty solid defender, aside from the two or three times a year when he plays like the battery in his controller just died.

I hope I'm wrong, but it seems it was never to be for this team. They won so many games they "shouldn't have".

Cool story bro: Good friend of mine is a big DC Untied and Fulham guy. He tweeted Ream this morning a bet proposition. DC wins, Ream sends hm a Fulham jersey, RB wins and Ream can call the bet. He didn't expect Ream to respond. He did. Ream said done deal and if RB wins he has to change his avatar to him wearing an RB jersey. Thought that was pretty awesome.

Seattle not looking sharp. Of all the teams that are playing on short rest, they seem the most out of it, at least so far in the first half.

If you faced Barca in 2009, there's a good chance this was the attacking team they rolled out against you.

Zlatan Henry

Messi

Iniesta Xavi

Yaya

Can you imagine?

The front three is better now, IMO. Henry was a tad past his born-on date. Zlatan had a bit of trouble fitting in (as most central strikers until Suarez did). Both had decent enough stats, but neither were as prolific as Suarez and Neymar are now. Toure's offensive qualities weren't really utilized in that team. Busquets is just a better fit as a holding mid (not surprising as he's the best holding mid in the world). Obviously a good thought experiment might be to wonder how good the current team would be with peak Xavi and Iniesta (and near peak Puyol/Pique) for that matter. I don't think any team, even Bayern, could put up a "team of the decade" that would really compete.

Native's post sent me to Wikipedia to look at CL winners again. If you were picking a year as a cutoff for the "modern" era... what would you choose?

1996/97 (post Bosman and roughly when English clubs became competitive again after the ban)?

1983 (year subsequent to the last time clubs from a single nation claimed 3 straight titles - happened a lot prior)

1956 (when England joined)?

1955 (when it started)?

Other?

You are absolutely correct here. Rooney seems very lost right now and his touch has almost gone full altidore. I wonder if having him play the 9, 10, 6, wide, etc rolls over the last year has mixed him up. He doesn't seem to know where to be and when to go. He had a perfect 1-2 set up to get Martial in on goal and instead ran into the space and missed the pass from Martial.

I also do not understand what LVG sees in practice and the games to not only continue to play Rooney but to believe that subbing in Fellaini when needing a goal is a good idea? Fellaini's minutes on the pitch consist of a chest trap, multiple fouls, several missed headers and an errant pass or two. 2 of CP's best chances late in the game occurred with Fellaini getting beat in the air. How the eff does that happen??

And both managers should be upset with the ref. He called no fouls on CP in the first 10 mins and several on United. Then CPs first and second fouls are then booked? But no bookings for United? Then you book United without there being any contact whatsoever? Ref established early he was going to let CP play rough and United not. Then switches it? Really poor showing and could really have ruined the game for either side.

LVG... its time.

Martial

Young Herrera Mata

Schenidi Schweini

Rojo Blind Smalling Darmian

or maybe get attacking with

Martial

Young Herrera Mata Lingard

Schenidi

Rojo Blind Smalling Darmian

in any case Rooney and Fellaini can play left out.
