Oxlade-Chamberlain proving that once you've played for Southampton you will still end up at Liverpool somehow. There is no escape.

So odd. He says he loves living in Spain and he gets to win trophies all the time playing in that great lineup. But his popularity with supporters seems lukewarm at best and now Asensio is rising.

He was awesome in the last Euro. I think he should go home and be the God of Swansea.
He needs a bigger challenge.

Start at Cardiff City, and lift them back into the PL....

It is true that very few top clubs develop their academy kids through to the senior team anymore in any significant numbers.  Just a few years ago (it seems) Barca was loaded with LaMasia products, but I don't think that is the case anymore. Same for Bayern, even with its incredible academy infrastructure and resources.  That said, the issue with Wenger is he's so celebrated for his focus on the cliche of "developing youth." This was just a few weeks ago - https://twitter.com/ArsenesChilean/status/895367566478245888

For me its sad more than anything because his heart is right and his intent is genuine, but he seems to be clinging to a strategy and principles that don't work any more.  Its very much under the microscope just in the past week or so, and will likely blow over and I'm sure Arsenal will be fine this season, but it just seems a bit sad to me right now.
Lineup is still about half La Masia products, but very few have come through recently.  Enrique did not really give young players a shot.

Football Manager legend - Renato Sanches to Swansea on loan... :oldunsure:
I was sad to Gyfli leave but this would be a nice way to soften the blow.

Clement's connections to get Abraham and Sanches on loan is really impressive. Hopefully this is enough to keep them mid-table this year as they secure permanent moves for more creative players for the future.  I'm psyched!!!!

for some reason I've seen Tammy play twice already this season... looks genuinely poised to be a dangerous dude in the EPL.

This is going to be a big help in the race to get the all time US league attendance record for a season.  Capacity is at 71,500 for this game I believe

Confirmed: Spurs are in for Fernando Llorente. More difficulty for Chelsea. Battle is on to convince him in final 24 hours. #CFC #THFC

Fascinating. After years of Chelsea trolling others during transfer season, Spurs will be the third team in a month to steal a player from right under our noses.

Purple Dildo Eve and the oddsmakers have van Dijk more likely than not to move north.

Coutinho/Lemar odds have tracked each other all day (PC in/Lemar out; Lemar in/PC out), but are both 50/50 to wear red 24 hours from now.

I'm never doing this again.

Last year a record 64 amateur teams entered the US Open Cup qualifying.  This year that number has skyrocketed up to 108.

Nothing like a Cinderella story(Maryland's Christos FC) to make every one want to be the bell of the ball...

Yeah you guys are crazy. It's not worth following. Just react when it's done.

And here's hoping Barça call pools bluff. He'll be cheapenin a year at this point.

Spurs getting things done... Foyth yesterday,  Aurier announced today, Llorente in for a medical (still time for Chelsea to get back in...)

Rumors are that Spurs still want one more in...but running out of time.

Hard to read Liverpool - can't tell if they are trying to get business done before announcing Coutinho, or if they are silly enough to keep an unhappy Coutinho and pass up all the money.  He will certainly be worth less next summer - probably significantly so.

Levy doing Levy things:

It’s August 31st and it’s Levy’s time to shine, but the Tottenham supremo has already been hard at work in preparation for the close of the window.

One of the deals Levy has been working on is Serge Aurier, with everything agreed pending a work permit for the PSG player. That finally came through on Wednesday, according to French reports, and Aurier is now free to join Tottenham.

Levy concluded the deal with PSG in a ‘large Parisien hotel’ before returning to England and crossing his fingers over the permit.

Chelsea, on Wednesday, aware of the work permit situation, were on the ‘brink of making a new offer’, report L’Equipe, however, they hadn’t bargained for Levy.

As part of the deal with PSG, Tottenham agreed an ‘exclusivity clause’, which meant PSG couldn’t talk with Chelsea on Wednesday.

Wow Llorente would be a great choice for Prince Harry cover.  Full props to Levy.  Still have no idea how they do it.  The deal Ox rejected from Chelsea would have paid him something like twice what Kane is getting. Even the bargain deal he signed with LFC will pay him something like 66% more than Ericksen. The world makes no sense.

Chelsea panicked into Mahrez bid - which means he is not going to Barça.

Meanwhile VVD looks to be headed to Liverpool.

Liverpool still claiming Coutinho not leaving, but its getting harder to believe...kind of like when Spurs said Bale was not leaving...

Sanchez - that Sanchez - still strongly rumored to City - but Arsenal having a tough time getting anyone in right now.
Just read a Twitter report saying that Arsenal have bid up to 90 million for Lemar, but that doesn't square with how the team was claiming poverty yesterday (they did say they couldn't bring anyone big in without selling someone, so there is some wiggle room).
