holy hell... US Soccer unlocked presale tickets for the Copa America.

cheapest ticket at Meadowlands is $370. this.
My buddy got a venue pass for Santa Clara on Monday. He said I can have an Argentina ticket for $125. I'm going to try to get AO tickets for the USA Santa Clara game. Those go on sale on the 3rd.

I got a Chicago venue pass for $300. Nosebleed seats but the Chicago lineup is real nice... 4 games including a U.S. game, an Argentina game and a semifinal.

My brother got two good seats for all four games at Levi's. $500/ticket I think. He's a 49ers season ticket holder.

I might see if I can get the Argentina game off of him.

I mentioned earlier that I (somewhat involuntarily) ended up with 4 club level venue passes for Chicago. Can these be separated and sold or given away? Its going to be hard for me to fill all 16 seats, particularly for the first game.

I think those Orlando prices listed are the max for each category.

I went out to the ticketmaster site and can see corner top of lower level for 375 and nosebleed corner for 285.

Sammy... you going to this?
Maybe...I mean I don't really want to spend what they're asking for a Jamaica-Peru match and then maybe a US-Brazil one.
I'm really not clear on how this is working.

I buy the tickets at $370 per... what is that getting me? 2 tickets for 1 game? or 2tickets for both games (and the opportunity to buy more for the final)?
Two tickets for all the games with the exception of the final.

Good question. If its venue does that mean you are getting tickets to all group matches for that price?

looks like the Rose Bowl is $150-$3000 depending.

I'm not sure on that either. I wasn't too worried about it since I just got 2 and I'll be able to find people to use them if I can't go.

Just saw this:

It's a centennial soccer celebration wrapped up in a once-in-a-lifetime event as the Copa America Centenario takes place throughout the United States June 3-26. The Rose Bowl will host first-round matches on June 4 (when Brazil plays), June 7 and June 9 (when Mexico plays).

A Pasadena Venue Pass includes a ticket in the same seat for all the matches in this venue.

The venue pass is all matches of any kind at that venue (except the NY one doesn't include the final). Looks like the Rose Bowl isn't being used beyond the group stage though.

Yeah the NY venue pass is kind of weak without the final.

Apparently by buying a venue pass I'm now entered in a lottery for final tickets. I wouldn't be able to use them, so if I win I'd be happy to let an NY-area FBG have the opportunity.

ah... thanks.

so it's 4 tickets for $790... not cheap, but not entirely unreasonable.

On a different note, the reports are that Chelsea wants to buy Vardy this week. Earlier it was United wanted him. True or not isnt the question, to me its if you are Vardy why would you leave Leicester? LC is in the title race and looking strong for a Champions League spot next season. Club legend and European football next season? Maybe do something very few teams have done and something no one thought possible and win the EPL

Why jump just because its Chelsea or United calling, neither of which look to win the league nor are locks for the top 4. Even if they are just made up rumors at least you can hope they make some sense.

ok, eta small venting over. Just hate the silly transfer rumor season.

Sure, but in a few years, Raheem could be pretty good

Absolutely. Guys like Vardy or Mahrez have to strike when they can. If LC wants to keep them, they have to pay them - assuming these offers are really out there.

I mean, we have no idea how much money the J**s have caused him to lose at that casino.

Just working on my racist Jamie Vardy shtick to complement my racist John Terry shtick in the event he goes to Chelsea.

I don't think there is much in this, but Vardy is almost 30. If someone offers him a big contract he has to take it.

agree.

I keep reading that LC is no way no how selling him or Mahrez... until they sell them.

Are the top players even gonna play in the copa? I saw a story a few weeks ago suggesting they won't play 3 summers in a row

Then a few days later an article came out that said the exact opposite.

I think they play. This is the 100yr tourney in a huge market. More eyes will be on this than any ordinary Copa ever.

It appears Spurs are going to have a Dembele kind of transfer window. Today they announced a contract extension for former Fulham player, Mousa Dembele through 2019, and this weekend, Spurs are expected to announce the signing of soon-to-be former Fulham player Moussa Dembele.

Yeah. I had to read it twice and I'm a Spurs fan. So Moussa is a Striker? Any more information on him?
Decent prospect - problem may be managing expectations. After signing Dele Alli last January, many players would pale in comparison - in terms of the ability to jump up a level (or two) and be successful.

Its a somewhat complicated deal. Dembele is out of contract in the summer, and really wants to leave Fulham. Monaco are interested in signing him on a free transfer - but that would require staying at Fulham for this season. (If he leaves for a foreign club this summer, it would be free, domestic clubs would still have to pay some compensation to Fulham). Fulham are currently under a transfer ban - I am not sure if that extends to the summer or not - so they are not keen to see a player leave, since they cannot sign any replacement players. But, they risk losing him for nothing if they do not sell now - and they cannot afford that financially.

So, it should come down to money - how much are Monaco willing to pay as wages v. Spurs, and who offers the clearer path to playing time. Poch has a good reputation for playing younger players, but Kane is not going anywhere.

He can play anywhere in the front three which is something that Pochettino values. He wants the players to be able to move freely while still maintaining discipline as a team. That means being versatile, aware, and having high endurance.

I really think the European Super League is an inevitability at this point. I don't know when. Maybe they'll tweak the Champions League, but eventually it just makes sense to let consumers see Bayern play Barcelona twice a season. I probably have too little respect for cherished traditions in the game, but I'd love that.

I hope this doesn't happen.

It would be a league that everyone would follow. And as long as it wasn't a closed league, I'd watch, too, but then I'm not a fan who would have to become accustomed to my club being in the bottom half of the table after enjoying routine success in my domestic league. In the college football pro/rel argument thread a year or two ago, a Ga. Tech fan said that going from a reasonable expectation of 8-4 every year to 6-6 would kill his school's program. I don't know if he was right but in a Super League somebody would have to finish last whose fan base isn't used to finishing last. What does that do? Personally, I don't care but lots of others might.

It absolutely would be a closed league (I suppose they could always do "expansion"). Yes, someone would finish last. Fans would have to learn to live with that. But it would be easier to live with because that team would not be relegated and face the prospect of a Leeds like fall into financial ruin. I mean, when was the last time the Raiders were good? But Raiders fans are Raiders fans.

I love seeing the best of each country pitted against the giants of the big 4.

what makes the WC so great, and what makes the CL so great. just seeing the same few teams trotting out and playing against each other over and over... not so interesting to me (outside of seeing them in the latter rounds of the current CL set-up).
