I just found this out, at least for the shoe part. The players can negotiate with any company they want for shoes. The Adidas deal does not cover shoes.

Comparison to other recent sponsorship deals for perspective.
NBA: Nike = $125 million/year for 8 seasons (30 teams in 2017-18)
MLS: Adidas = $117 million/year for 6 seasons (23 teams in 2018)
NHL: Adidas = $70 million/year for 7 seasons (31 teams in 2017-18)

FC Cincinnati beats Miami 1-0 & will host the NY Red Bulls in the semis on 8/15.
That is so cool they get to host again. I hope it is another huge crowd!

Real Madrid's roster has a combined salary of around $162 million and that is just to the players. The team I believe absorbs a higher cost because they cover some of the taxes.

The MLS bid for Charlotte suffered a big blow last night when the County backtracked and rejected to fund the stadium. Charlotte was always behind Raleigh in the race to bring a team to North Carolina and this could be the final blow. As much as I would love to see a team in my City this was a bad deal for Charlotte and I was no fan of having Bruton Smith (Nascar) as the owner.

Tough to get details through Twitter, but an NPSL team and Miami FC have filed a claim with the Court of Arbitration for Sport to try to force the USSF to implement pro/rel. I have no idea what the legal theory is.

I don't see how La Liga have any legal status to do what they are doing. But I do think they are just trying to bring as much attention as possible to the matter. FFP seems like more of a "back-end" rule than a front-end rule. Buying Neymar means that PSG now have to do some serious selling to avoid getting sanctioned, but it isn't something that should block the transfers.

La Liga, Serie A, and Ligue 1 I think are the three big Euro leagues they have plus a bunch of smaller properties (Russia, Ecuador, some various domestic cup tournaments etc)

It is a section of the country that needs some MLS coverage but I think even in the beginning both were considered long shots. They have hung around though because so many other bid are struggling with the stadium portion of their bids.

Yeah - ultimately I think la Liga loses here - but maybe shines a light on how Qatar is funding PSG in ways that circumvent FFP rules.
I still have this feeling that for all its money, Barça could be in a little bit of trouble here trying to replace Neymar. Too many clubs already digging in heals - and not needing the money. And, to the extent Barça does business - it will have a big impact moving forward in terms of setting market values, as I think they will have to pay inflated values.

I've seen some Barca fans claiming that La Liga is just trying to hold things up as long as they can just to screw Barca (I guess their conspiracy theory is that La Liga loves Real Madrid).
Charlotte would do well, but the MLS bid is astroturf from a NASCAR ######## and the current franchise (Independence) has the lowest draw of their league playing in the suburbs. Gold Cup and ICC games draw 50k though.

Yeah, I think Barcelona should certainly use some of this loot on a splash signing. But there isn't a real reason to get panicked. They have a better squad than the one that beat Real Madrid just 3 months ago without Neymar. I'm calm and willing to give the youth a go if it comes to it. The board probably isn't, but that is one reason a lot of fans have not liked them.

Do you guys feel Pulisic would get as much playing time at Liverpool as he does at Dortmund? I believe last year he was 4th in total minutes played across all competitions for Dortmund. Dortmund did heavily rotate though so it was not like he was a 90 minute guy every game.

Current team, no. If Coutinho left and Pulisic was the replacement, sure. But again...this is TOTAL speculation. I haven't seen a legitimate Liverpool source mention Pulisic in a long, long time.
