With the October FIFA rankings out, Pot 1 for the World Cup draw is set.
Pot 1 - Russia, Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina, Belgium, Poland, France

Pot 2 - Spain, England, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay.
*Right now Iceland, Costa Rica and Egypt are there. Egypt will not stay as the Italy/Sweden winner automatically bumps them to Pot 3.  The following countries rank higher than Iceland at 21 - 10-Peru, 11-Switzerland, 15-Italy, 18-Croatia, 19-Denmark.  Any two advancing would knock Cost Rica to Pot 3, and more than two would knock Iceland to Pot 3.

Pot 3 - too many scenarios

Pot 4 - I think Panama, South Korea and Saudi Arabia are secured for Pot 4.

JUST IN: Columbus Crew SC spokesman says the team will NOT be offering refunds to fans who purchased 2018 season tickets.

Someone might want to think of removing Precourt's internet access.

I really do feel for you Crew fans. Its an uncertain time I recognize, and I take full responsibility for the situation I have put us in.

Put you all in, not us

Is it even legal to take someone's money and then not provide them what they paid for?  Doesn't seem very nice.
This guy seems like a peach and every other owner in MLS is complicit in my opinion.  They all knew about the poison seed he planted in the purchase agreement and allowed it to happen.

Yeah, this isn't a great approach. He should just own it. Not like there's anything he can say/do that isn't going to infuriate Columbus people.

I am having a really hard time believing this one but it seems to be gaining some traction so who knows

My sources say that even if there was an offer on paper, there wasn't any real money behind it.

Not sure why, but its funny to imagine the Brighton & Hove manager calling out his first XI. It reads like the roll-call on pledge day at a frat house.

Brighton XI vs West Ham: Ryan, Bruno, Bong, Dunk, Duffy, Propper, Gross, Stephens, Knockaert, Izquierdo, Murray

RFK closes this weekend, and I'll tip one out for:

-----------Moreno---Diaz Arce

Harkes---Etcheverry---Williams---Olsen

---Agoos---Llamosa---Pope---Sanneh

---------------WhoCares?*

*It's like asking who pitched for the 1976 Big Red Machine.

**This lineup would never have actually played together.

Was looking for vids of Tony Sanneh at the 2002 World Cup, and this is all I could find.

I say with a completely straight face that he should have made the World Cup XI that year.  Figo never had a chance.

ETA:  fun fact... Sanneh and McBride played together in MIN before MLS started.  So when Sanneh fed McBride for the diving header vs Portugal both of them claimed they'd done that play a 1000 times together in practice in the NASL(?).  Always liked that story -- it's a long way from the NASL to scoring goals vs Portugal in a World Cup.

Also it it’s an all-RFK team, you could have Cruyuff.
My first match at RFK was a 1996 Olympic match.  Met a long-term girlfriend at that game too.  Then started going to MLS games about halfway through the inaugural season.  Then had season tix for four years.  Also saw my first Nats game there in 1997.  And was down on the field for a USWNT practice following a Project 2010 press conference.  (ETA:  Tisha Venturini  )  So many good times at that stadium.

My folks had Dips season tickets, then Team America tickets, then Dips tickets again.

But I’ll spare you my case for Paul Cannel and Jeff Durgan.

I also scored one of my 7 career youth soccer goals at halftime in a game in the last Dips season. Big game player.

They played together in 1994 on the old Milwaukee Rampage in the USISL.

¡BOLIVIA!

Heading into week 9 of the EPL, just some interesting little tidbits looking at the table now (I know, don't ever look before Thanksgiving, but....)

-- Man City has scored more than Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, Everton, Southampton, Swansea, and Huddersfield.....COMBINED.

--Brighton, Newcastle, Burnley, and Watford are 4 teams currently in the top 10.  Hmm.

--After 8 weeks, Man United has only allowed 2 goals (both in 1 game) and Crystal Palace has only scored 2 goals (both in 1 game)

--Burnley has 13 points on just 8 goals scored.  They've already beaten Chelsea and tied Tottenham and Liverpool

--Watford is sitting with a 0 goal differential....in 4th place.

ETA -- This was meant to be posted yesterday and I stepped away and forgot.
