This is going to add to the behind the scenes fight in MLS between those owners that want to spend and those that want to limit the spending of others.

I don't know who there is more of but if I had to guess I think there are slightly more owners who want to limit compared to those that want to spend.   And to boot we are coming up on CBA year soon in which for the first time there is a chance the players may not cave.

The transfer of Pity Martínez from #River to #ATLUTD is now reportedly a done deal. Agreement was finalized yesterday in a meeting of club officials, at a sushi restaurant in Buenos Aires. Atlanta will pay his full €15M ($17.2M) release clause, and he'll join in January

he's a like-for-like replacement for Almiron, right?

I know he's young, but Carleton needs to step his game up to stop the influx. hopefully he's able to make the leap to adult soccer- such an amazing talent in the youth ranks. I just want to see him playing.

yes, Pity looks to be almost an identical attacking left foot midfielder.  He is well regarded in Argentina and has picked up his first 2 Argentine caps this year.

Carleton continues to be a conundrum.  He had an assist a couple of weeks ago that was mind bending.  Not only is there no other player in the US system who could have completed the pass, I don't think there are even a handful who could visualize and see it as fast as he did.

His highlights are fantastic but he continues to be dogged with comments that he just can't give a complete game yet in the  USL, whether he mentally turns off or not I don't know, but the gap between his highlights and his normal play appears to be WAY to high for most coaches comfort levels.

he's still young- and hopefully it'll click for him. glad he's getting USL time to work this stuff out in if he's not ready yet (sounds like he's not).

yeah- seeing him for the yutes, he was doing tab ramos type stuff with skills and vision... exactly the type of play I think this group of USMNTers needs from the central attacking MF spot. but not if he can't put in a 90 minute shift.

it is important that he develops.  Neither Swag nor Adams has this skill set and most of us agree that we would rather see Pulisic left out wide if possible.  Carelton should be an important part of the U20 team and with Amon, Weah, and Sargent all possible players he can pass to, he should have a lot of options if every one gets released for qualifying.

this is moving to wrong thread area... but what I saw from Keaton made me think he'd be a good fit for that ACM role. is he out, or hurt, at benefica? considering the the stature of the club, surprised we're not hearing or talking more about him after his run with the first team last season.

Parks is still stuck on Benefica B right now.

I like his skill set a lot in the middle but until he can get himself in a first division some where (or a very good second division like Bundie 2 or Championship) it is hard to make too much of an evaluation of him.

looks like he's started every game he's suited up for so far...  4/6.  but also getting subbed out around 60m in a few of them as well. and like you say- has that same kind of skill set (although not as eye-opening as Carleton) to help the team as that elusive ACM.

he's also 21yo, so while young, he's not exactly young.

Sure it is only 9 games into the year and only 4 points separate 1st from 7th, but the La Liga table is really bizarre:

Barcelona

Espanyol

Alaves

Sevilla

Atletico Madrid

Valladolid

Real Madrid

Some teams punching above their weight, some underperforming... I'm just glad to see some solid competition.  Keep getting more competitive too.

Reporters in Argentina are across the board saying the Schelotto will be the replacement for Tata when he goes to coach Mexico.   I think that is a very nice replacement and also doubles as giving Schelotto a good chance to be the US coach in the 2026 cycle if it all comes to pass.

Great move, if true. I was worrying that all those young SA players that were drawn by Tata might be discouraged to play in MLS, or for AU. Hopefully this continues the trend

if Almiron can make the big money move this winter as expected, that will help too.  Young players need to see MLS as two fold.  One where they can come and make good money, and two, for the better players, that MLS can be a stepping stone to a top league.

MLS has done a good job in the first part but not yet on the second.  Almiron (and Adams to a smaller extent for domestic players) could help change the dynamic.

Real Madrid (offense) and Barca (defense) are a big step beneath prior years it seems.  Messi missing the Clasico will be interesting.  Sevilla's offense is pretty scary this year.

Update: That was amazing. Had great seats. Holy #### what a bucket list mother ####er. Now drinking a Sangria at a bar called Obama. And yeah, on my phone because the rest of the crew is in bed and I'm still wired. Obama bar has really bad American rock and roll cover band, for your fyi.

Ask them to play some Nipsey covers

holy smokes... I didn't have time watch or pay attention to much this weekend.

figured Atlanta would wrap things up... I guess not. thanks, I guess, for helping the RBs out here. I'd be fine if you keep up the largesse in the playoffs.

I'm starting to feel a bit sorry for this Lopetegui fella, even though I know almost nothing about him and don't really care one way or anther about Real Madrid.  What a horrible run for him though - brazenly dismissed from Russia by Spain days before their first game, only to be ####-canned by Real Madrid after a couple months.

Didn’t feel like it mattered as most think it will be RB and Atl in the Conference finals but that was a deflating loss and now I question whether Tata can get them ready with his news that he’s leaving.  Nothing would surprise me at this point MLS champs or getting knocked out by NYCFC in the semis both seem like there’s a decent chance.

NYC and Philly both caught themselves at the right time and are playing really well right now (philly's mistakes aside vs nyc). neither of those teams are terribly appealing an opponent.

I forget how it works in the playoffs... east vs west? eastern teams are playing some good stuff right now- should make for some entertaining games, especially with LAs choke job eliminating the zlat from the playoffs.

and yeah- sure... losing the supporter's shield doesn't matter.
Unfortunately for the Red Bulls, this is the one year that winning the SS does not get you into the Champions League.

I believe that for NY to get in the Champions League next year they have to hope that either they themselves, KC or Atlanta win the MLS Cup.

I think that since KC and Atlanta have already qualified, the next spot goes to the team with the best aggregate record over the last two years which is Red Bull.
