It will be interesting to see if he can break through or have to go out on loan.  The kid is loaded with talent

Kovac(Bayern's manager) spoke about #VWFC’s Alphonso Davies at the press conference today. Davies will join #Bayern after the international break “and train with the first team. One thing is certain when you spend that much money on a player then you don’t park him at the reserves.”

A focus group in Boston was convened tonight.  Most of the topic was focused on rebranding the Revs if they move to Boston.  Sounds like the poor moderator was taken a back at how the group hammered the Krafts for being so far behind the rest of the league.

One of the questions was a bit terrifying:

"Being asked about rebranding in a scenario where the Revs exited MLS and were replaced by a new Boston franchise 5 years down the road."

=======

This does not make too much sense considering the Krafts are spending $30m plus on a training facility they just broke ground on.

The bottom half of the Prem table is as bad as it looks. The end of season relegation fight will involve six clubs, none of whom may be anywhere near 30 points.

After 10 matches, Southampton and Newcastle may have 10 points between them, but they’re hardly the only ones struggling. In total, the bottom six have conjured up 30 points, easily the lowest total of recent seasons. This time last year, the cumulative figure was 46. In 2016 it was 43, in 2015 44, and in 2014 it was 50. The implication being: a lower points total might be enough to stay up. So not quite time to panic just yet then.

The Penalty Kick that defied physics

Portland v. KC

How an impossible penalty became legend in Portland..

On October 29th, 2015, the Portland Timbers hosted Sporting Kansas City in a knockout round that would ultimately become one of the most memorable games in MLS Playoff history.

Re-live the drama of the game, the hysteria of 11 rounds of penalty kicks, and the stories from those who lived it.

Playoff Moments is a new anthology series that will revisit the most memorable most in MLS Playoff History, told by the players, coaches, and individuals who shaped them into legends.

saw that, but haven't had the time to watch.

I watched that game live... completely nuts. (eta- live on tv, not live in person)

I guess this is the de facto Spurs thread...

Dele agrees to new deal worth £150k/week

Stadium might not open until next season, Manager might leave for Real Madrid or Manchester United at a moment's notice, but Spurs are changing their wage structure, slowly but surely.

kane, dele and erikson all on new long term deals, no?
No - Just Kane and Dele (and Son, Lamela and Davinson Sanchez).

Eriksen has been rumored to be "next" since this summer.  Also waiting to see if Vertonghen gets a small extension.  Toby is likely to be sold this January or next summer.

Yeah - puff of smoke in the beginning looks rather ominous.  I have no idea if that is normal or not - but I hope it gives clues to the investigators about what went wrong.
Puff of smoke is nothing really, just excess fuel being burned off  in combination with condensation.

Based on what I see the tail rotor experiences a failure. I don't know what could cause that, given the quality of the video, but it could have a ton of explanations. With enough altitude, loss of the tail rotor can be compensated for, but this was relatively shortly after take off, and it doesn't look like the pilot had enough time/altitude.

Good deal for Spurs, and not "too expensive" comparatively. I think Eriksen is the key though, they need him.

Last week, I drank a few beers in a pub in Austin with Anthony Precourt just a couple blocks away from the proposed future stadium site. The same week, the Austin City Council member representing the district was hanging out with Save the Crew in Columbus. Strange times we live in, friends.

FC Dallas will reportedly announce it is sending a team to USL League 1 (starting play next Spring). The announced goal was to have 10 charter members, growing to 24 by 2021.

If Dallas joins as rumored, it appears the 10 inaugural teams will be:

Madison (WI) Pro Soccer Club

Chattanooga Red Wolves

FC Dallas (II? B? - name TBA)

Greenville Triumph

Lansing Ignite

Orlando City B

Richmond Kickers

South Georgia Tormenta FC

Toronto FC II

FC Tucson

I was disappointed that LAFC lost last night even though that was a good result for Sporting. Por-Sea should be a lot of fun.

I guessed wrong on both games last night as to who would win.  I do think LA is likely going to be a power in coming years.

RSL and KC are an interesting matchup because they come from similar "smaller" markets with excellent support from their fans.   Something 3 of the 4 teams left in the East still struggle with from time to time.

Por Sea should be a blast.    Hopefully a ton of Portland fans travel for the second game.

MLS regular season games still leave a lot to be desired but you pretty much have to be the most obstinate person to not find some level of entertainment in the playoffs.  They seem to deliver interesting games and stories every year.

I am so sick of soccer being the only spot that has floppers......................

dear god, I actually think a suspension for bad acting is warranted here. :)    I am shocked he did not hurt himself in the process

I've been very vocal about the flopping in the nBA. I think it needs to be an automatic Technical 2 and ejection from the game plus fine for it and soccer an automatic red for decent. The good thing with soccer right now is it seems refs are realizing which guys do it and most of the time just telling the player to get up and play on but I'd like to see that player disciplined as well in some sort of fashion.

This was pretty terrible too and deserved a suspension for bad acting

Cam the Scam intentional flop on Eagles Offsides.

So about two weeks ago I was playing my Fifa 19 game. Well I decided to create a few prospects for AC Milan and the Union and possible one or two top guys on the bigger clubs that could play this year or be there by next season like I do every year, as well as create some of the Brazilians like Rodrigo Ciao, Lucas Paquetta and others from the Brazilian league. As you may or may not know PS4 lets you power down the system without quitting the game and keeps your progress where you left off next time you fire the bad boy up. Well I decided to go into the Union Campaign (Mostly to see who needed to be created as the menue rosters don't show which guys you have that are loaned out and like an idiot I reset all my rosters without saving. That was about 5 days of work completely gone. Really not looking forward to creating these guys again. I wish EA had a community creations for roster downloads like Madden and other sports games do. This is gonna be a chore. Probably start this now and save what I have. I'm off work Wednesday and Thursday this coming week so I'll probably get a bulk of it done then. It just really sucks because I think I did this a about 2-3 yrs ago as well.

I don't follow much transfer rumors, but I saw this on the espn site and thought it made a lot of sense:

Juan Mata to Juventus

The Serie A champions have made a habit of signing European stars on free transfers and are considering doing the same with Mata. The Manchester United midfielder is out of contract next summer and can discuss a potential move with foreign clubs in January. According to the Evening Standard, Jose Mourinho is keen to keep the Spaniard at Old Trafford but United are yet to begin talks with the 30-year-old.

Yeah I don't give a dam about it. Id rather player a career mode and grind to get better players. I'm glad they got the Serie A and UEFA Champions and Europa League Licensing finally but they need to do more. I get online mode with games is a huge thing but I see it no more then a greedy money grab. Most of the best players are either sponsored by these games and a guy who was a huge NBA2K guy who got the game for free to help sponsor the game admitted they intentionally gave him high graded trading card packs of players to make other people spend more money on the game and to get those packs. These youtube videos you see of guys in FIFA getting these 90 rated players and legends is all a fallacy to make you buy more and more. I'm not a huge multiplayer guy but some of that is because most of my friends are Xbox and I got a PS4 do to some old exclusives in series I really like. Either way I feel these games put too much in multiplayer and just #### on the people who want a story mode campaign better and play multiplayer just for fun.
