Oh this is fabulous if it is shade :)

===========================

@soccermusings

Not sure if Chicharito meant some shade at Zlatan in his Galaxy press conference a minute ago, but...he said he wants titles, not just to score a bunch of goals and leave after a couple years.

More evidence as to why they paid Chich for his off the field impact.

=====================

@samstejskal

According to a club spokesman, in the days since Chicharito signed, the LA Galaxy has sold roughly twice as many season tickets as they did in the comparable time-frame after they announced Zlatan. Huge impact.

The lion doesn't concern himself with the opinion of sheep.

I think Liverpool's midfield is underrated considering the tactics that they play.  The team is set-up for the chance creation to come out of the press and then from the fullbacks.  They're able to do that precisely because Liverpool doesn't have to rely on a single ball winner in the middle of the pitch and is able to deploy a rotation of highly flexible all-around CMs (only Fabinho could say to be a pure 6).  Henderson and Milner, in particular, just go out there and win every second ball and play nearly mistake free in managing the transitions in phases of play.   Gigi and Keita now perform similar roles as late arriving box to box types who chip in goals.

I don't think Liverpool really miss a creative AM.  By any measure, they've been a better team without Coutinho than they were with him.
So Coutinho goes to Barcelona, then gets loaned to Bayern, and now is seemingly falling out of favor there and Bayern don't intend on picking up his contract which means he'll go back to Barcelona.  You wonder if he's regretting his move away at this point.  I remember feeling pretty disappointed that he left but certainly not anymore.

They can send him to Atletico.  Lord knows they need some spark.

and 3 days until the window closes and United will sign no one.  No Bruno, No striker, NO ONE

But hey guys Alexis Sanchez will be back in summer!  All that good he's doing in Italy will give you hope!

Yeah, Woodward is just brutal. How freaking hard could it possibly be to get a deal done when you're just buying a player in a sport with no salary cap?

Which reminds me. Explain again how a club makes room on its 25-man roster if it buys a new player. Can you de-activate one of your existing guys while still honoring the contractual agreements?

Have there been any big incoming deals for English clubs this window?  As far as I can tell from transfermarkt, the biggest acquisition by an english club this winter is Fulham buying Ivan Cavaleiro (19th highest transfer this window across all leagues).  Second highest is also Fulham, buying Bobby Reid (30th overall).  Third highest is Minamino - LFC.  Watford is next with Ignacio Pusetto, and Michael Hector to Fulham is 5th (45th overall).

Either I did this wrong (here), or Fulham is ruining football!

Jean-Kévin Augustin to Leeds would be up there, but it is a loan to buy type deal, so not sure how that counts on the list.

Yeah...it's strange. Considering all the big clubs other than Liverpool seem to need substantial help at one position or another, Liverpool make arguably the biggest move- bringing in a CP type player; quality guy, but also a regional brand-builder.

I guess its squeaky purple dildo time for the others... :popcorn:

I can understand ManCity staying pat if they don't see a deal they love.  They're not going to move up or drop to 5th this season.  For the next 5 or 6 clubs, the champions league money is there for the taking, and they all could use a bit of help in getting it.  That said, I have no idea who might be available on the market and what it would take to bring in a quality player at this point.  Last January, Chelsea brought in Higuain on a 6 month loan and he was worthless.  Its hard for a player to adjust to a new club, new league, and actually be a contributing player within a few weeks or so.

I'm not current with their trainers table, but seems like City could use some help in the back line.

Exactly.  6 points out of 4th, with 2-4 dropping points and inviting challengers... 2 central MFs and your main goalscorer injured and you arent doing anything to get into 4th?

Signal your intent by making a signing or 3.  Make a run at top 4, especially if you are targeting bigger names in summer who will be in CL and won't come if you arent.  PLUS if a certain enigmatic French midfielder is leaving in summer you are already have replacements inhouse and arent further behind.

:hot: :censored:  its not that difficult

Spurs have signed Bergwijn, a RW from Eredevisie.  Also still trying to get another stricker, Piatek.

I think they see a chance to get a top 4 'trophy'.  Plus need some Kane cover and more depth.

Saw they wrapped up lo celso too...so I guess he was temp or on loan?

Spurs give Milan the 30M and The Curva will pay for all of Paitek's travel expenses and chauffeur him from the airport in London to Spurs Training ground.

Milan vs Torino AC Milan paying tribute to Kobe Bryant who was a huge AC Milan supporter, spoke fluent Italian and came surprise to Milan Training 7 yrs ago and met his idol Paolo Maldini. Milan is wearing black armbands (At first Calcio denied this request) and had a video tribute before the game for him and Gianni. Also a moment of silence and the Supporters let out a huge cheer during the 24th min

I remembered he was a Milan supporter. Did his dad play in Milan, or did he just adopt the team?

And just as I mention him Piatek with some ####ery at the net handling the ball to cancel out a Rebic goal. Please take this guy already. Every time it seems he'll do something right he goes a makes a muck of it

I'm a little uncomfortable with how easily I brushed aside the fact that Mohammad Bin Salman is a murderous tyrant and eased right into "C'mon, buy the Magpies! 100 million pounds available in the summer window! Yaaaaaaaargh!"

His dad played in Florence but Kobe adopted the club and would visit the San Siro for matches. I started following them before I knew Kobe was a supporter. Kobe I adopted as my favorite player after MJ retired because like Pippen told MJ he reminded him so much like him. Kobe also grew up about 10-15 mins from me and we are almost 10 yrs exactly apart just missing by 2 months. Know a few guys in the area who played against him in the early 90s and 2 of his teammates from Lower Merion. When it happened I was at work. When word got around for someone who never played on a Philly team it just destroyed everyones day. I don't remember the last athlete or person that something like this happened that has effected this area so much. Kobe was also a huge Eagles fan and the IG video Vanessa posted of them winning the SB and his reaction was literally every Eagles fan reaction. He spoke to the team 2 months prior to the SB as well. Lower Merion Gymnasium that was named after Kobe I got to help manage my local HS team on. Same court and floor boards when he played had not been replaced. We ended up getting there early for shoot around and I got to go on the court which was pretty cool. There's a memorial outside the School where the Gym entrance is (maybe have seen it on the news) and I've already been there. I've met some people from Conn, Bos, NYC, Maryland, Virginia, etc coming to pay their respects when I went this morning. It was pretty surreal and all of this is while school is in session

I'm at the point I don't care who buys as long as they want to open their purse and Ashley is out. And when I mean out I just don't mean from the city but the Country. Send him that clown to China for all I care.

NYCFC are going full-on Nordic signing Gudmundur Thorarinsson to play LB which was their one big position of need.
ANd Philly raises you a Nordic themselves in a CB for those interested a 69 rating in Fifa Gudmmundur is also a 69

 Football@NORFtbl

@strmsgodset captain Jakob Glesnes on his way to @PhilaUnion!
Agreement between clubs.

The CB now travels to the United States to negotiate his personal terms
and conduct a medical test. He said goodbye to his Godset teammates and coaches at Marienlyst this morning.

I think part of the reason is that players are reluctant to sign for clubs when the manager they will be playing for is up in the air. Will Pep leave soon? How long will Ole and Lampard get?

ET at the San Siro 2 all Kessie in first touch to Hakan Goal 106 and then Ibra probably just ceals the match with his first San Siro goal in 9 yrs #SempreKobe

Damn, you didn’t have to go shoot fireworks at his house :bag:

I have no idea, just wondering if you'd rather have :fro: or Lingard
:censored:  Thats a tough one.  Lingard does have value as an English home grown player.  Worth keeping as an unused sub or not selected on matchday

:goodposting:  Lampard will get more time since they are 4th, hes English, and his first summer was under a transfer ban. Pochetino clouds everything though.

comment made me laugh but have to say despicable by those that did

Fernandes to United official.  Hopefully this will lend some spark.  Pogba as good as gone in the offseason.  Who knows wtf is going on with Sanchez.

Still stupid to move Lukaku having Rashford as your only senior striker.

Spurs really should have gotten Bruno in the summer or even this window.  I'm going to be really pissed when he turns out to be good.

Pending his medical, but looks like it.

Bruno should slot nicely into the 10 spot.  If/When Pogba and McT are healthy that has the looks of a decent MF.  And if they can get a guy like Graelish and/or Maddison, Bruno can play deeper and losing Pogba may not hurt. (I think Graelish is realistic, Maddison not.  But the way Woodward works he needs to start now since it will take until the end of the summer window to get it done).

Sanchez can go too.  Not like hes covered himself in glory in Italy to make anyone think hes back to his best.

Not upset that Lukaku is gone.  Mostly since Greenwood has got a chance.  But yes the board let them down not bringing more in.

Is it me or does Portugal have really outrageous release clauses and transfers for their players? There's players who have barely made a name for themselves with Euros 75M release clauses. Seems very excessive
