***Official Super Bowl LII Thread*** - Eagles vs Patriots (1 Viewer)

With all of this confidence from eagles fans I'm going to enjoy rooting for the underdog patriots again.
I remember being underdogs last year, that was so exciting to overcome that Atlanta juggernaut.

One other thing I noticed looking at the Eagles box scores. They beat up and abused young QBs. But the established, multi-year starters at QB?

Alex Smith 251-1-0 with a 113.8 rating
Eli Manning 366-3-2 with a 100.1 rating
Philip Rivers 347-2-0 with a 105.9 rating
Carson Palmer 291-1-0 with a 90.2 rating
Russell Wilson 227-3-0 with a 118.6 rating
Eli Manning 434-3-1 with a 98.1 rating
Matt Ryan 210-1-0 with an 86.6 rating

Looking at NE in games not started by seasoned veterans (they saw plenty of those this year in Brees, Big Ben, Ryan, Cutler, Rivers, Smith, etc.) and against younger QBs:

Deshaun Watson 301-2-2 with a 90.6 rating
Jameis Winston 334-1-0 with an 86.7 rating
Brock Osweiler 221-1-1 with a 72.9 rating
Derek Carr 237-1-1 with a 68.2 rating
Tyrod Taylor 65-0-1 with a 35.6 rating knocked out and replaced by
Nathan Peterman 50-0-0 with a 49.3 rating
Tyrod Taylor 281-0-0 with a 78.9 rating
Byrce Petty 232-0-0 with a 72.9 rating
Marcus Mariota 254-2-0 with a 98.3 rating
Blake Bortles 293-1-0 with a 98.5 rating

NE did not allow a younger QB a rating of 100 plus or more than 2 TD's. Granted, some of those QB's are not ground breakers and their teams are not the Eagles.

But the overall point remains that NE fared way better against guys that weren't 10 year vets and the Eagles defense was nowhere near as good against long term starting QBs.

Who knows if that will play out the same in the SB . . .
Me thinking this Anarchy fella may be a Pats fan  :grad:  Stats seem tad bit biased at times.

We can pull all kinds of numbers, but looking at last week we can add to that Bortles line that he was 19 of 23, and averaged over 10 yards a pass. And all your stats kind of show is that Pats had a lot of inferior talent they played against this year. I wouldn't exactly be pumping up games against T-God, Peterman, and Petty.

You want some funny stats check out the stats of the Eagles DL and compare to Pats OL, or Pats DL to Eagles OL. God help the 2nd tier of your defense on screens and guard/center pulls, i can honestly see a few plays your LBs and DBs running from Kelce or Brooks as they hunt them down.

This eagles team is better and feels different than any of Reid's best teams

not trying to be a buzzkill, but i think comparing this team to the '04-'05 team isn't as convincing as you 2 think. I think that Pats team is better than this one, but i think we may have a bit of recent memory bias here. don't get me wrong, this team is talented too, but i am not sure we would be saying the same thing after 4 of the last 5 games

And the best part of this is, none of this over analysis matters. Pit threw for 868 yards against the #1 pass defense in the playoffs.  Nick Foles looked like Brett Favre against the #1 Vikings defense.  Weird things happen, these coaches are preparing game plans to take all this into account.  We could be looking at a game where NE rushes for 200 yards.

Anyone else find it very weird that Pederson has asked Favre to speak to the team?

I mean, is Favre going to explain to Foles how he should feel when he throws a pick-6 to lose the game or something?

Seriously...this is bugging the **** outta me.  Its like asking Bill Buckner to talk to the Patriots about how not to make plays when they matter most.
This guy is lucky he hasn't been Munsoned out in the middle of nowhere by now.

Hard to forget the time he was playing for MIN and Farved that great Vikings team in the playoffs.

Or any of these: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/470140-turnover-the-10-worst-interceptions-of-brett-favres-career

Just like no one would talk about Brady if he wasn’t playing?
Icon is hilarious. He hates the fact that his boys are playing a team at about 75% strength. He knows his team better win or he'll be the laughing stock of the board since he's been trolling for two weeks.  Although I doubt he'd even stick around.

Icon just be Iconing....... If he were a Philly guy, we'd all be egging him on.

Yep. I feel like we've discussed New England's unique defense a few times up thread when you started spewing snotbubbles over 538's analysis.  Lots of yards. Fewest points in the NFL over the last 3/4 of the season.... ring a bell?  Maybe 3rd times a charm.... ;)
By the way on those DVOA defensive metrics, the Eagles ranked:

vs. #1 WR (7th), vs. #2 WR (1st), vs. Other WR (22nd), vs. TE (17th), vs. RB (10th)

Patriots ranked:

vs. #1 WR (26th), vs. #2 WR (20th), vs. Other WR (21st), vs. TE (8th), vs. RB (22nd)

More evidence why that passer rating differential article was garbage.

When you guys quote that Niais my ignore filter doesn't work. TIA

75%? Excuuuuuses Excuuuuuuses. ProTip.. It's week 21. Everyone's playing at 75%. We're out our best defensive player and #1 WR, among plenty of others. Winners don't whine or make excuses. I understand Philly is new to this stage, so we'll cut you guys some slack. But as part of a fanbase who's VERY familiar with week 21, I'm just offering some friendly advice.

Laughing stock of the board? Won't stick around?    Son.... pleaaaaase...... Spoken like a true 5-digiter ;)  If Philly pulls it out, I'll take my money and congratulate you guys on a helluva game. I know some of you who haven't been here before, will act like you haven't been here before. It's expected and it's okay.

If Wentz holds up and you guys are able to string together even a fraction of the dominance New England has exhibited over the last couple decades... eventually the scratch-off, new-money fans like yourself and a couple others in here settle down feel as comfortable in this stage of the season as we do. :D

In the meantime... here's to 50ish more hours of smack talking :banned:

Thanks GB. I'm just having some fun. These are the two best teams in the NFL squaring off on the big stage, Sunday. It's going to be one hell of a football game, and I won't be surprised by either team winning. You guys definitely deserve to be here. Congrats to the good Philly fans, and wish you guys the best on Sunday

I've heard some callers on talk radio bring it up.  I think Pederson and Favre are still friends from their GB days.  He also had Kobe Bryant talk to the team when they were in LA.
Dougie must think asking dudes who do inappropriate stuff to women will motivate them...?

Favre beat the Patriots in Super Bowl 31.

Granted, it was pre-Brady/Bill... but I get the point here.
Oh...thought Favre was brought in to show Foles how to throw pick-6s at critical points in games.  Either that or how to embark on a pitchman career selling junk products when Foles is unemployed in a few years.

Check your phone.  Foles might be sending you a pic of his junk.

Total BS if Gronk doesn't play.   The guys a lovable idiot anyway.   What's some more brain damage.   I want to see that beast out there.

"Hello Philadelphia. I'm Nick Foles. You probably remember me for winning that game ...  and then almost winning the BIG game. Now YOU can win YOUR big game ... with Poo Trap for Dogs."

"Boy, if they only made a product like this for humans, ha, it wouldn't have been so obvious that I soiled my game pants that day."

"... and remember, Pootrap is a winner, just like me. Because that NFC Championship banner wouldn't be there without me."

Patriots have no one on their final injury report. Everyone good to go.

Eagles have several players with flu like symptoms.

Found a dummy willing to give me PHI +5

Made my largest wager of the year (roughly the median South Philly monthly Income).

Figured getting my car payment  covered this month would be a nice consolation prize if NE loses.   :D

Interesting note. This is only the 3rd Super Bowl where both teams are top 5 in offensive and defensive scoring. Might have been mentioned.

God I miss Blount.

James Palmer✔@JamesPalmerTV

I asked LeGarrette Blount if he has anything he wants to ask Brett Favre Saturday morning when he speaks to the #Eagles. He said, “How many Super Bowls has he won?” I said one. Blount laughed and said, “Na, there ain’t too much I want to ask him”

That is the one thing I fear...the Patriots lack of experience in big games...I hope they can handle the big stage...
I can't wait to see the Eagles knock the Pats of the top.

It's going to be a good game and may the best team win.
